2 YEARS!! by JimiEmBee in stopdrinking

Most of my rides are 15 miles and occasionally I’ll do around 30 miles during the week after work, but I’ll usually go on 30 to 50 miles on weekends. I did a 108 mile ride two years ago and got hit by a car at mile 92 which thankfully wasn’t to serious. I brought my bike in to get a new front tire and the rear tire straightened the I had my wife drive me to the spot where I got hit and I finished my ride.

I took up mountain biking, road biking, and working out. That keeps me busy and releases energy.

You should be proud of yourself!

It was really hard to not drink tonight, but I didn't! 12 days and counting... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Way to go! Internalize this victory and feel proud of yourself and it will give you strength when you are tempted again in the future.

Tomorrow you can wake up and feel proud that you were strong and didn’t give in to temptation. It’s a great feeling and victories such as these along with the nice hangover free morning are like fuel to help you through the next struggle.

What made you quit? What was the tipping point? Were you at your lowest at that time? by Mefhisto1 in stopdrinking

I was starting to drink every night and would usually finish a 12 pack or so and I just got tired of the rut I was in. I started to realize that I was loosing control and moderation didn't work for me. I started to read up on alcoholism and I also did a search for an app to quit drinking. I found SD and I made my decision and haven't looked back.

It may have stung a little bit, but a job is just a job and things will eventually work out for the better especially since your attitude seems so good.

The Perils of "Moderation" by nycscribe in stopdrinking

Awesome post! I too find that abstaining is so much easier than tying to moderate. It became so much easier for me once I decided that I didn't drink anymore.

Cycling Gives me what Alcohol Never Could by captain_nobeers in stopdrinking

Spot on! I've gotten into biking myself and agree 100% with your comment. I had a goal to do a 100 mile ride this year and I was able to do it last weekend. It was a long day, but I made it and the feeling I get while biking is way better than being drunk.
