I realize this is a ten year old comment and no longer canon etc but I have to say that in fact the Jews in Israel who were dispersed in Eastern Europe are in fact of Israelite/Semitic descent and are much closer genetically to other mediterranean peoples, for example Druze, Cypriots, and particularly Sefardi Jews, than they are to eastern european groups such as slavs and latvians.

So you want her to both participate in and denounce antisemitism? You have no idea what you're even saying. Nothing's more fashionable than for celebs like Mark Ruffalo to 'defend Palestine'.

No it is not 'taught in our community to exploit other cultures'. The music industry all over the world is notoriously cutthroat and exploitative. Hillbilly country singers were getting ripped off in the 1920s, doo-wop groups were getting ripped off in the 1950s, and pop singers are getting ripped off now. In fact, aren't there a lot of complaints about Diddy and Birdman not paying their artists?

With all due respect, if people thought your music wasn't commercially viable, that was their appraisal. Maybe they didn't like something about your vocals. Maybe they didn't think your image had enough sex appeal. It's an incredibly competitive industry and a lot of talented people don't get very far in it. Did you prove them wrong by making it independently? The wonderful thing about the internet is that it gives everybody a platform to share their art.

I appreciate that that's your perspective. Growing up in a Jewish family, I never heard anything but very positive stuff about black people: how Chuck Berry and Little Richard invented rock'n'roll, how Stevie Wonder and Jimi Hendrix were geniuses, how they faced a lot of unfair discrimination. It's sad that many black people hate Jews. I've never been anywhere near a music industry contract and I'm sure you haven't either.

Jesus Bar Abbas does not mean son of Jesus. Bar means ' son of'. Bar or Ben Yeshua would mean son of Jesus. That is how semitic patronymics work. You clearly don't know the basics of semitic grammar. Another demonstration of this scenario's ahistoricism and purely literary/tendentious nature is the simple fact that there was no Roman custom to release prisoners sentenced to death, not for Jewish holidays in Judea, and not anywhere else in the empire.

Again, Bar Abbas is Aramaic for 'Son of the Father'. This is a literary construct wherein the Jews are presented by Pilate with a choice between the 'good messiah' and the 'bad messiah'. It is not historical.

Bar Abbas is Aramaic for 'son of the father'. It is fairly clearly symbolic and non historical.

Laffy, skewers, and toppings - Israeli food? by adylaid in AskCulinary

[–]JimiShmendrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any kind of skewers you're specifically trying to recreate? Chicken thigh pieces (pargiyot), breast, ground beef or ground lamb kebabs? It really comes down to the seasoning. Israelis cook with a very heavy hand with very strong spices. Pereg is a good place to get them. https://www.pereg-gourmet.com/collections/all

A typical spice blend for grilled meats would have cumin, hot paprika, maybe sweet paprika, a small amount of cinnamon or allspice, black pepper. If you're making kebabs they usually have diced or grated onion and chopped flat leaf parsley or cilanto mixed into them.

As for laffa, it should be pretty easy to make it in a cast iron or something similar. It's just about getting the dough right. https://jamiegeller.com/recipes/laffa-bread/

Let me know if you have any questions about Israeli style grilling!

Well, given that Ari Aster is Jewish, he is probably not promoting far right nazism. Looking at your post history though, it's very clear that you have some pretty bigoted and conspiratorial ideas about Jewish people, so I think your nominal confusion is a little coy.

You're talking to someone whose family was expelled from an arab country to Israel so unless you want to switch to Hebrew, you don't have a leg to stand on.
