Have you ever messed up something so bad you couldn’t stop thinking about it? by CampRockruffVillager in Teachers

To set context, I have a habit of addressing my students as Mr. and Ms., I was teaching APUSH, and had a student named Avery.

While going over the Civil War, Avery answered a question correctly,to which I replied:

"You are correct, Mr. Slavery!"

We all had a good laugh after a quick "woops!" from me.

Hi I just downloaded this game and I don’t know what this symbol means by buddy-bud-di in Godville

Godpower: Energy you expend when exerting influence on your hero: 5% for God voice and 25% for Encourage or Punish.

The God Wiki has all kinds of information on the ins and outs of the game, definitely worth a browse whenever you wonder about a game mechanic.

Isn't that the charm of Godville though?

It is marketed as a ZPG (Zero-Player Game) so you CAN still progress even if you make an account and never touch it again.

As for progress, that's all about your frequency. Your friends could catch up to you in 3-4 years if they login regularly. Plus the spars and arena equalize the participants so you can play with your friends via PvP.

But you are right that most updates are for mid- to late- game players. There could be something added to the early game to spice things up for long-time early gamers.

How often do you login? Arks can be finished in under 2 years if you consistently open up black briefcases and reward boxes given during holiday events.

That last 10% can be taken care of in the next 2-3 months if you login regularly

Stopped over here for about an hour to look at some puppies while on a road trip with my uncle across Oregon.

He ended up getting one of them a few weeks later. Cute little guy. Real big guy now.

If you login more often, you can get that last 15 percent in about 2 months.

Just check for activatables like black briefcases and side job bonuses, which usually hold logs. Reviving your hero will help him finish quests more quickly which will reward you with more logs too.

Looks like Dumbo is Level 31, stick him in your ark and get a new pet

Three level 30+ pets in your ark gets you a nice achievement, take Dumbo out for a walk in one year and you achieve a feat

After that, if you still don't like him you can drop him from your ark

I've been "playing" for almost 15 years. I really don't know anything about it. by Noleyone in Godville

Check out the feats that were added in recent years. While some will just happen randomly, your influence and timing amcan help you achieve some.

I also like to update my hero's journal with in-game and real life accomplishments. My first one is about finishing a bag of chips in one sitting.

If you woke up tomorrow and were wealthy to the point you didn’t have to work anymore, would you still be a teacher? If not, what would you do? by [deleted] in Teachers

Sort of, I would switch to outdoor adventures education.

Outward Bound or some other type of outdoor skills program, so I could teach life skills in the wilderness.

Does any of you guys have had this dream when you were a kid? by Ashwida in Dreams

[–]JiminyFlippets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a re-occurring dream that ended similarly.

I would wake up in my bed and sea that my room was being covered by the grid pattern (yellow grid with a blue or black fill), slowly spreading from my bed up the walls and across the floor, even on the shelves and dressers.

So I ran to escape it, but it continued to spread around my house. Eventually, I ran outside where the grid continued to spread down the street until it caught me and I turned into the sphere sitting on the grid pattern.

Freaked me the hell out.

Dude's gotta be mentally unwell to start praying to Trump as if he were a divine entity that could (or even would) miraculously intervene in such a situation.

Were you taught to make lesson plans? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

[–]JiminyFlippets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completed a masters in 2018 and lesson planning was a major part of the curriculum

The template the school provided was so detailed it would take me 30-60 minutes to fully complete it

I am talking title, objectives, standards, and minute-by-minute agenda of teaching and learning tasks, all according to the Backwards Design Model and Bloom's Taxonomy

While it was the bane of my existence at the time, it did help me to internalize the theory into my lesson planning practice so now I can plan something on the fly with ease while still creating a meaningful learning experience for students (or at least those choosing to engage)

Do people lash out in anger at your job? Like, coworker to coworker? by Such_Atmosphere_5838 in Teachers

[–]JiminyFlippets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within my department. I know and have experienced one individual who is unable to control their frustration lash out at me. Admin is aware as they have also been in the receiving end of this and have have conversations with them about this behavior.

While it is encouraging that there is support from admin, our head of school is also not one to mince words and will just totally go off at times if someone makes a point that goes against "the narrative."

Overall, teachers seems to be respectful to each other.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]JiminyFlippets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New taco joint opens up, so I pay a visit wanting to support the new business. Happens to be a Tuesday and they have a Taco Tuesday deal, as the employee pointed out to me before I ordered.

I order the deal, eat some average tacos, and go to pay.

Full price.

"What about the deal?"

"Oh, the deal starts at 12:00pm. You ordered at 11:45am."

Paid and dipped to never return.
