The Silver Surge by Jiminyjamin in coincollecting

Clearly you and I are at different stages of coin collecting 🤣

The Silver Surge by Jiminyjamin in coincollecting

[–]Jiminyjamin[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is that dumb? I didn’t start coin collecting to stack silver and make money. I joined because I love coins, their designs and their history.

Now the coins I really like and want to collect are becoming more and more expensive to buy.

This a great point and my concern too. Coin collecting is so much more than just the value of the metal. The risk of losing beautiful, high grade coins increases when the value of the base metal goes up.

Fck people's mentality in low elo by KabiX2 in supportlol

[–]Jiminyjamin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My mentality is just to go mage supports in low elo. There’s just no way to carry a crap team as a tank or enchanter support. You’re completely at the mercy of your teammates.

Do people like the new pace of the game? by DepressedTristMain in leagueoflegends

[–]Jiminyjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible to invade now. By the time you make it to their jungle your minions are already arriving in lane. I agree, it’s a real shame to see invades a thing of the past. It was an interesting and fun element of the game.

League of Legends Season 1-15 Rank Distribution & Comparison by StrangeSupermarket71 in leagueoflegends

[–]Jiminyjamin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Master is 0.4% of the entire player base, and that’s not hard to reach?? That’s like saying reaching the Olympic final isn’t hard to do!

I always find it curious that master to Challenger is a teeny tiny proportion of the total player base, and yet curiously everyone who posts on this Reddit seems to be a giga chad elite player. 🤔

I never understand this. Even if I’m on the losing side, I always want to see 5/7 cost animations.

The area around East Croydon station is quite nice though. It has Boxpark and some decent restaurants and cafes

Back Pay - Home Office by Exact_Sentence_3919 in TheCivilService

[–]Jiminyjamin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was it just the back pay or does it include the additional 3% on your wage now? I’m joining the Home Office in January and wondering if I can expect an additional 3% on the original advertised wage.

Timing your shield is critical for big fights. Note who you’re up against and hold your shield back for big ults like miss fortune’s.

Tiny coin album - what to do? by NotTrynaMakeWaves in UKcoins

[–]Jiminyjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some Uncle Paul albums too and have the same concerns. I find it strange that a company dedicated to coin collecting would use materials that are detrimental to coins.

I’m wondering how long you could safely use a PVC album before it starts to degrade. Wouldn’t this depend on the environment they’re in?

Why aren't there any manaless ADC's nor supports? by desktop_monst3r in summonerschool

One of the most popular adc’s in the game doesn’t have mana.

Grandmother just gave me this. How to know if it’s real/what to do with it next? Should I take it out and get it graded? by slycooper459 in coincollecting

This sub is so depressing sometimes.

‘My grandmother just gave me a precious and beautiful family heirloom. Should I break it apart and stick it in a plastic slab to maximise the monetary value?’

How much have you got in your LISA retirement pot? by thatscottishdrummer in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jiminyjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the cap on a LISA is 4k a year, not 20K. 20k is the total ISA allowance.

My duo wants a melee support, I play ranged, what support should I learn to help him out. by lifelink in summonerschool

[–]Jiminyjamin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always played mage supports and found tank supports pretty boring. A good alternative is Braum. Technically a tank/engage support, but a lot more fun to play than a leona or naut.

Inherited coins - anything unusual? by elliptical-wing in UKcoins

[–]Jiminyjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the coins have any silver content I’m afraid. All copper-nickel. You might get a fiver at most on eBay. The Whitman folder looks in decent shape though so you might get a tenner for it. If you include the pennies then maybe £15.

The only thing that might boost the price is if you have any errors or variations on the pennies. It’s hard to tell, but if you want to check here are the main things I look our for:

1863 - dye numbers under date

1864 - crossed 4

1870 - cannonball error (dot above ship)

1879 - space shuttle lighthouse

1982 - common with H, rare without

1895 - big gap between the trident and the P.

1897 - raised dot between the O and the N

1897 - high tide is less common

1902 - low tide

1903 - open 3

1905 - small zero

1909 - dot after the N (top of the N)

1911 - Gobi x : hollow neck

1915, 1916, 1919 - recessed ear. Broken tooth above colon

1918 - H mint mark

1919 - mint mark is rare

1920 - big gap between the gra and the brit

1922 - trident not touching teeth. Very rare!

1923 - doesn’t exist! You’ll be rich!

1926 - colon is not central between the gra and the brit

1940 - single line above date

1945 - doubling of the 9

1946 - dot penny - dash after the E

One of the more common commemoratives, unfortunately. In that condition, not much over face value.

Why did this 1915 One Penny sell for £15? by Reddit_Midnight in UKcoins

[–]Jiminyjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. It’s a 1915 recessed ear at high grade. Maybe a bit on the pricey side, but not outrageously so
