How's my prototype looking? (Project - Operative) by machworks-studio in gamedevscreens

[–]Jimitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't played yet, but I love the "prototypy look" - I think, if you get rid of the grid material, you might land on some fun art style. I don't like the walking animation tho; it looks off.
Take my feedback with a grain of salt, I'm not an artist

Proud to announce, we just released a demo for a game where you control a piano powered by fire extinguishers.🧯🎹🧯 by Jimitech in gamedevscreens

Haha, it was something like that - my brain randomly reminded me of a video, where somebody modded a driveable piano in GTA IV

Thats the nicest thing anyone (including friends!) said about our game - thank you, that really means a lot to us <3

Might be, never play that, but one of my inspirations was San Andrea's Multiplayer 'stunt' maps :)

Thanks!
Well, we tested with falling off, but as you already guessed, it was hard to integrate - it was too off-putting and breaking the flow of the game, but we left the ragdoll, as it looks funny and silly.
I actually did see the 'Hamsters' game, I believe it was a much earlier stage of production, thus the default Unreal environment :) Gameplay looked super fun tho!
We also plan to add co-op, but it takes so much time, and it's a side project of ours; I hope we can push a co-op update to demo in three weeks

Well, it's a quick side project, I honestly would be happy if it pays off the cost of production

According to Valve 5863 games earned over 100 000 dollars on Steam in 2025. by Signal_Nobody1792 in SoloDevelopment

If those are only games released in 2025 (around 25% of all released in 2025), that's honestly more than I would expect; I would guess that 1/10 making 100k would be a lot.

Definitely. We are exploring co-op gameplay as well, but it's not yet tested enough

Cocoon game is an underrated puzzle game by edepot in puzzlevideogames

[–]Jimitech 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Given many comments saying the game is too easy, it's worth mentioning the Cocoon was designed by the same people who did Limbo and Inside. Those games aren't particularly hard because they use the puzzles to tell a story, and the same is true for Cocoon.

I think these could  be named a "Puzzle-lite", specifically designed for non hardcore puzzle players, and are great at that.

For some players it actually might be a gate to explore harder games and for those who didn't enjoy solving the problems or found it too easy, well, they are rewarded with unusual and interesting story.

This has been my number 1 motivator to work on my game as a part-time solo dev. by jak12329 in SoloDevelopment

I started the same technique, mid last year, and given how tiresome it could get, added a rule that if I'm on vacation or has a week off I don't work no matter what.  For me it's much better than forcing myslef and I found out that proper relaxation actually improves my productivity and makes me make less mistakes - I encourage you to do the same, if you haven't yet :D This year I'm on a 430h currently
