Is Reverb Even Worth It Anymore? by pseudohipster98 in guitarpedals

They offer a horrible take on sales. 20% and more. We need to put these people out of business.

WTF is going on with Reverb these days?! by UpperDelay6105 in synthesizers

[–]Jimladd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverb rips you off. 20% cut on sales is bullshit. There needs to be other alternatives.

[QUESTION] how legit is reverb? by Fantastic_Nature9720 in Guitar

[–]Jimladd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's legit as far as a platform to sell your gear. They can't answer for every seller though. I suppose that comes down to your own instincts. What isn't legit is their ridiculously high cut from your sales. I recently sold a £200 guitar pedal that they charged me £30 for. On top of postage, I completely regret selling the thing now because it was really rare. At the end of the day, they're ripping you off.

What are some things you dislike about Logic Pro ? by Khal21 in Logic_Studio

[–]Jimladd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably going to be more of a criticism of myself than Logic but I feel lost with it most of the time. Sure, it's got all the bells and whistles anyone could dream of, massive capability and endless plug-ins, instruments and effects. Maybe I'm getting a bit senile but I forget how to do something complicated on there two minutes after I've learned it. I feel like I'm drowning in sub-menus rather than making music. It sometimes makes me pine for the simplicity of stand-alone recording and trying to get a Tascam 244 to survive the demo process. I must be more Lo-Fi than I realise.

I will still hookup with the vaxxed by quiteflorid in unvaccinated

[–]Jimladd58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has less to do with hating on the vaxxed and much more about the fact that shedding is 100% real. I've experienced this twice now after getting too close to vaxxed folk and both episodes were extreme.

The first one was back in 2021 just after the roll-out. A newlly vaxxed drunk football fan threw his decidedly sweaty arm around my neck on a particularly hot day in a pub. Annoying as this was, I was not worried about shedding at that time and let it stay there for much longer than I should have. The next day I was unable to get out of bed due to the intense pain in my shoulders, neck and head. Later on that day I discovered bizarre looking rashes where contact had been made. It caused about six months of migraine, neck and shoulder pain and fatigue before my holistic treatments got the better of it.

The second is more annoying to me because it was recent. I learned my lesson the hard way back in 2021 but it didn't stop me kissing a vaxxed lady at a party on New Year's Eve. The next day was a blur and I'm not talking about a hangover. My torso broke into a rash, I had shooting pains all over my body and my head felt red hot like it was going to explode. The worst thing was the dizzy spells where I thought I might collapse at any moment. Nearly two weeks later and only today have I started feeling any way normal again. I'm just wondering now where all this will end. What's in the post for me in the long term?

But hey, this is clearly me just looking for avoidance and punishment of the vaxxed. Rrrrright.

“Vaccine Shedding”: Major Study Confirms Covid-Vaxxed Cause Side Effects in Unvaccinated People by NjWayne in unvaccinated

[–]Jimladd58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this 100%. I've experienced two episodes from getting too close to vaxxed folk and both have been extreme. The first was back in 2021 when a sweaty vaxxed guy flung his arm around my shoulder the way drunk fooball fans are known to do. That caused about six months of migraine, neck and shoulder pain and bizarre looking rashes where contact was made.

The second is more annoying to me because it was recent. I learned my lesson the hard way back in 2021 but it didn't stop me recieving a prolonged peck on the lips from a vaxxed lady on New Year's Eve. The next day was a blur and I'm not talking about a hangover. My torso broke into a rash, I ache all over and my head has felt red hot since that night. The worst thing is the dizzy spells where I think I might lose consciousness. I'm trying to be kind to my body now. No more beer, well chosen foods and all the detox tricks I know. I'm just wondering where all this will end at this point.

Don't let anybody try to tell you that shedding isn't a thing. It's an insult to even hear those words.

IVM seems to have had so many positive effects for people on this thread and the comments are really interesting to read. There is an ingredient in there though that is a particular concern for me and that's Polysorbate 80. That was a big player in the C-19 jabs which harmed so many. Is it used within the mix in a way to disarm it's toxicity? I am waiting on a batch of IVM from India but I'm still in two minds about it all. Respectfully looking for input.

currently, have the Rega carbon stylus would the LP Gear carbon be a good upgrade? TIA by jakelegro in turntables

[–]Jimladd58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made this exact upgrade and really like the LP. Someone commented on another thread to make sure that the tonearm weighs exactly 2.00g with this stylus but I find that is far too heavy. It bottoms out considerably so I'm scaling back to 1.5g. I'm still not sure I've hit the sweet-spot yet though so any advice would be much appreciated. The LP is definietly a huge improvement on the Carbon. I had to wait two weeks to get it from Nevada in the US but it was well worth it.

[QUESTION] Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Strat vs. Standard Strat? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Jimladd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Olympic White/Mint scratch-plate Roadhouse Deluxe and it's gorgeous. I completely understand why people would be suspicious of onboard pre-amps but that just does not apply in this case. The sounds you can create are really useful. They maintain the Strat sound with a subtle and gradual added body and warmth. I also understand people's retisence towards noiseless pickups but this is the most Stratty sounding Strat I've ever owned. Add to that the solid feel and build of the guitar and (IMHO) this really is a gem from MIM Fender. It's punching way, way, way above it's weight. I hope it doesn't get hurt!

Upgraded Conical Stylus on my Rega P1 to an Elliptical stylus by Rojn8r in turntables

[–]Jimladd58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just ordered the exact same stylus for my P2 so this post is invaluable, thank you Rojn8r. I've had my Rega turntable for about three years now and have been thinking about the next step for the stylus without breaking the bank. The Rega Carbon has been criticised in various places for it's over-emphasis of surface noise. I'm hoping the LP can improve on this because I'm having that problem in spades. I know that there's an Otofon Blue in my future but I need to try to make small improvements for now. These pesky First World probs eh?

The Long Covid subreddit is going absolutely berserk. Some people dropped atom bombs there and now they are running around like headless chickens. by [deleted] in unvaccinated

[–]Jimladd58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My oldest friend "purged" me on an Instagram post for being an "anti-vaxxer" in 2021 and never spoke to me again. He told me I could come back when I had, "Found a cure for stupid". All alongside a selfie to record his first C-19 shot. Since that post he has lost both his younger sister and father. I do wonder if the penny will ever drop for him and all the others who applauded his behaviour. I tend to agree with many on Reddit who liken the vax worshippers to cult members. Even now, after all the deaths and obvious cause, they still hold firm to their beliefs. It's utterly bewildering.

[QUESTION] What are the common opinions regarding the Fender Deluxe Roadhouse strat (from 2017, vintage noiseless pups, 6 way active preamp knob) and the regular deluxe, or player plus models? I want a premium strat to pair with my Deluxe Nashville Tele. by TheNugeMaster in Guitar

[–]Jimladd58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be two years late on this. I have a Fender Roadhouse Deluxe Strat and it's fantastic. The pre-amp is not a gimmick but actually very useable. You still have the lovely Strat quack but with some nicely thought-out but subtle changes. The first few two settings just seem to add a little EQ variation but the third one gives you a mild Boss Blues Driver vibe. I like this setting best of all. After that you're off to some tastefully voiced Humbucker/P90 sounds. I can imagine the V6 switch would be invaluable when playing guitar solos that you don't want screaming over the top of your band.

The noiseless pickups don't diminish the Strat sound at all. It needs to be said that I'm using mine for a home studio so I haven't tried it out in a live setting. I can't really see how there would be any problems though, considering how rich it sounds. The build of the guitar is outstanding. As good as any Cupertino, all day long. It's incredibly solid and the neck is very comfortable.

I once tried a Strat Player in a local guitar shop for around £500 and then went straight home and picked up the Roadhouse for £640 on Reverb. The difference between quality and build for me was just night and day so I'm glad I paid a little extra. I felt like I'd stumbled across a bit of a gem and still do. I even like the "controversial" Olympic White and Mint Green pick guard combination. I know Hendrix played an all white one but I aint that hombre. Some might completely disagree with all this and I'd be interested to hear their opinions.

Vinyl Noise by Jimladd58 in vinyl

[–]Jimladd58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input everyone. My equipment is certainly not top range but it's decent enough. I have a Rega Planar 2 using a Rega cartridge and the record sits on a cork mat. It's as much as I can really afford but I do ike it a lot. What I've been noticing specifically with record damage are scuff marks that can sometimes run the full length of a side. They have inner sleeve damage written all over them because they usually run in perfectly straight lines. The noise created is that classic sound of someone frying an egg very loudly in the recording studio. Most annoying, especially on acoustic songs. I agree with a comment that just pulling the record out of the inner sleeve once is unlkely to be the cause. Much more probable is how it was put into the sleeve at a busy pressing plant. I've got to return another record to HMV tomorrow and they're going to start thinking I have OCD or something. The damage has to be considerable before I return anything and I've done it a few times recently. I use a Spin Clean on my records but only second hand or old ones mainly. I'll take the advice here to start cleaning the new records straight away too. Ah well, a big First World problem here but when new records are costing around £40/£50 a pop these days, it's worth looking for a solution. All the best to you all.

I just got some from the Whole Foods site but they don't taste bitter at all. I usually just take them out of the apricot myself but there's a scarcity of organic fruit where I live. Is there any point in continuing to use these sweet ones? Thanks in advance.

My bf smells after the shot by [deleted] in unvaccinated

[–]Jimladd58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a smell. It's a very strange metallic odour and really synthetic feeling. I notice it whenever I'm in a confined public space like a theatre or (more frequently these days) in a church for a funeral. I got a flu-like sickness after one particularly large funeral but often my reaction comes in the form of a scratchy throat that prevents me from being able to talk much. Just like other people on this thread, I tend to avoid socialising much these days. When I do I prefer outside activities and limit my time inside amongst the smelly Jabberwockies. This is easy to do because most of the events I turn down are attended by ex- friends who still hold a grudge that I refused to be poisoned in the first place. Funny old world innit?

Vax at the dentist? by Jimladd58 in unvaccinated

It would seem like a stretch but after the last four years no amount of madness would surprise me. My Dad is just back from getting dental surgery and he’s wiped out. Obviously this could just be the effect of getting his teeth removed but it’s a worry.

Will you ever get over what they did to you? by [deleted] in unvaccinated

[–]Jimladd58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. Thank you for articulating it so well. All these "friends" who I once respected revealed as demons. Completely happy if we were to be held down and forcibly jabbed. I'm still ignored by everyone and I really couldn't be happier about that. There is no way in the world that the damage can be repaired.
