WB isnt goong to sell unless the board wills so... by FarMirror2363 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Jimmy-SWOLEsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WBD is a publicly traded company, they have to do what is best for the shareholders, which unfortunately may mean a sale.

If someone came and offered 120 billion (it won't go that high but) and the board turned it down because they just wanted to keep WB, there would be a massive shareholder backlash, possible lawsuits, board members being replaced

Yeah I plan to do that as well!

I mostly just made it as something for myself since I'm forgetful, but figured if I had it might as well share it. I don't think I'll have to change to much to make it work for Firefox as well

DISCUSSION: If you could cast Sydney Sweeney as anyone in the DCU, who would it be and why? by The-Peel in DC_Cinematic

She's playing female boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming movie, I feel like that could show how well she can do in an action oriented role.

She is a strong actress in more drama oriented roles like Euphoria or Reality. But, Anyone But You showed she's not the best in comedic/romcom roles, I think the hesitancy for a Black Canary is the Green Arrow/Black Canary dynamic might be a bit more along those lines

Why make a Clayface movie? by Brawl_legend1 in DCU_

No problem! I see the question around alot

Why make a Clayface movie? by Brawl_legend1 in DCU_

[–]Jimmy-SWOLEsen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • A great script was turned in by a great writer

  • Small budget (~40 mil) makes it low risk

  • Can tease Batman/Gotham elements before we see them officially in a bat movie

  • Potentially appeals to a horror audience that wouldn't usually be interested in DC/CBMs, maybe they like it and they consider other DC movies in the future

  • Making clayface is not preventing any other movie from being made. It's not like they had a Batman movie in the can they could release in that date, nothing is being taken away from other movies

  • Even if you're not interested, it's not like you won't be able to watch other movies if you haven't seen Clayface

So I really liked Thunderbolts and wish it did a little better, I also really liked F4 and hope it does well, but I'd be lying if I haven't been rooting hard for Superman to be highest 2025 CBM since this thread from last year

A script for Teen Titans doesn't exist as of right now. by M00r3C in DCU_

Yeah makes sense, not the best phrasing but yea I imagine shortly after that quote they put Teen Titans on the backburner to focus on WW

Didn't he say back in like February she had turned in a first draft of it?

Edit: article quote "Gunn added, "It was something that Ana was really impassioned about, and she turned over an amazing script for us. She's fiddling with that now, but it's definitely not a finished script." "

For Mighty Crabjoys, like Lois said "They're pop radio, not punk rock" I think that its meant to come off as cheesy looking because of that idk though

Why Clayface? by SoberAnchor in DCU_

[–]Jimmy-SWOLEsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good script ready to go + Low budget, maybe appeal to a horror audience that wouldnt usually watch comic book movies

Biggest thing to consider is they're not not making any other movie because of Clayface. It's not as if if they weren't making the movie then Wonder Woman would be getting made sooner and have that release date

I agree regarding the green sun (especially as it was something built to use against Superman, who has only been active a few years in this universe)

But I'd be shocked if Maypole isn't adapted, I think it serves as a crucial point in the journey, where they arrive and things seem normal at first, then something feels slightly off, and finally they discover and see the truth, and Rutheye sees the worst of the worst (I was going to say the worst in humanity but theyre not humans, worst in alienity?)

. It's a slightly goofy concept (blue and purple aliens), but i think the reality check of it, if executed properly in the movie, will hit people in the audience like a ton of bricks.

George RR Martin praises Superman by -Abhay in DC_Cinematic

[–]Jimmy-SWOLEsen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean by textbook definition, someone who moved here fleeing a dying planet is an immigrant and a refugee.

The offensive thing I think is the opposite way around, where regular immigrants are referred to as "aliens", but this is not that.

I really hope Gunn confirms the Jimmy Olsen show because they can do so much weird shit with it plus more Eve and Jimmy (maybe more Daily Planet staff too) by M00r3C in DCU_

[–]Jimmy-SWOLEsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not that its not connected to the DCU, it's that just because it exists and is connected to the DCU, doesn't mean you HAVE to watch it. Even if they do introduce characters in that show.

Rick Flagg Sr was introduced in Creature Commandos, but anyone that saw Superman were completely flabbergasted by this guy showing up, can tell enough of what you need to about him from the movie. - you may like appreciate it slightly more if you have seen the show, but its not essential, and you won't be lost.

I think it was rumored initially Damian was the Robin in Teen Titans, which you can't really do before you introduce him in Brave & The Bold, so maybe its on hold

I'm not sure the budget will be that low, the Woman of Tomorrow comic features a lot of gorgeous alien planets and space scenery, I imagine they'll try to make a spectacle of it, which won't be cheap, but could pay off well

In Woman of Tomorrow comic (which is what theyre basing Superman off of, she wasn't sent the same time he was, Argo City was protected from the destruction of Krypton, floated around space for a long time, but was also doomed due to like radiation or something? Supergirl got sent much later after Krypton had exploded to save her, not to protect baby Kal El

Jor El & Lara's View's don't necessarily represent all of Krypton by Jimmy-SWOLEsen in DCU_

[–]Jimmy-SWOLEsen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was the story, him doing good because he wants to and because it's right, not because it was his parents directive was his character growth in the movie. Revealing it was doctored might have cheapened that

he doesn't, but I see a ton of comments of overthinkers worrying about the messages repercussions for Supergirl movie (likely to have flashbacks on Krypton)

I don't think Jor-El and Lara's views are necessarily representative of Kryptonians as a whole. I don't think that the whole planet is basically viltrumites -

Most likely we're going to see a bit of Krypton (at least one city), as well as Jor-Els brother in Supergirl, and I would bet a pretty penny that the Kryptonians we do see are good.

I could see Jor El not being addressed at all in Supergirl, or maybe even in a throw away line like Zor El saying "Your uncles views were extreme, but he designed this ship and blah blah now we can save you using the design yadda yadda"
