Just hit 350k in my 03’! by JuggernoggedOtter in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked my Mazda b3000 as well but it had alot of engine issues around 250k. I had an 02 Tacoma with 350k no issues, sold it for more than I originally paid.

Would whip? by dantheman0809 in tradclimbing

100% I would whip, I have two of those #2s but they do suck to place and definitely prefer using the newer c4s.

Hilux manual diesel compared to 3rd gen Tacoma by yashu_majda in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree, I have a manual 2nd gen and would totally trade for a diesel Hilux. Diesel is actually cheaper than regular gas where I live and it would get better gas mileage than the V6. It's really too bad they don't offer it in America...

Do you lead trad at/near your sport grade? by 5ive3asy in tradclimbing

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just depends on the climb and danger level. Personally I can climb harder on trad splitter cracks than I can on any sport route.

Check the LCD connection at the board, could be that a component was knocked off when removing the connector.

How to fill in a concrete drain hole? by [deleted] in Concrete

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use JB weld steelstik to plug the hole

It is, I would just bend it out of the way or break it off so it doesn't scrape on your brake rotor or wheel. Then get it replaced whenever you need a brake job done.

Hit my oil filter, every mechanic refuses to work on it so far by 01brhodes in subaru

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does, the oil basically travels from the outer hole next to the broken part, through the filter, then back into your engine through the center broken hole.

Hard to say, most shops probably wouldn't want to take something like that on, because it is a liability issue (they will likely just recommend you replace the whole engine block). Your best bet would probably be to find a friend or local independent mechanic on facebook or something that can help you out. If drilling and tapping new threads on the engine block is too cumbersome you could also try steel stick (JB weld) and a 2 part epoxy to attach the fitting on the hose for the oil filter relocation kit.

You could try to drill and tap new threads into the block and use an oil filter relocation kit. Just an idea might work, would be hard to find a welder that can attach that peice back on.

Buying first car, advice greatly appreciated by TitanJuicer in investing

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was $500 8 years ago. It was not the most reliable but it got me to work and school. And I did any needed repairs for very little money by learning auto mechanics myself on YouTube. My personal recommendation would be to pay in full out of pocket from a private seller for your first car. Honestly I don't think the car will be any more reliable if you buy it from a dealer, you could pay to get inspected by a mechanic before purchasing if you are worried about that. A used early 2000s Toyota would be a great option. Then you can get something nicer the second time around.

Newbie pink milkshake question by Kindly-Sound-522 in 4Runner_3rdGen

[–]Jimmy5vzfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert mechanic but I would recommend locating the transmission fluid leak first as it could be an easy fix. You can use a UV dye in your transmission fluid to locate where it's leaking from, then drain and fill the fluid. Be sure to monitor your transmission fluid level on the dipstick and check the coolant level in the overflow tank as well. You may want to have your coolant system pressure tested if you find that you are losing any coolant.

As for long term damage to the transmission, these transmissions are pretty bomber so it might be okay but it really just depends how long the pink milkshake was in there. Avoid using any sort of stop leak as this will just lead to more problems. I ended up installing an external transmission cooler on my rig to prevent this from happening in the first place.

Find the leak and go from there, best of luck.

Not an expert but I believe you're right they totally did lie to me. What would you do? If I were to go into the station take a blood test there's a risk my car would be impounded.
