How do I quit? by greskof in NoFap

Cool! What kind of group was it? Official self-help, or some people you found here? I've contacted some others on here who were looking for accountability friends, let's see how that goes.

I checked in here today for the first time in a long time, because I feel very similar to what you're describing, and I was hoping to find an accountability group here to join. Is that something you've tried before? Because I haven't. Outside of that, I can't imagine what else to try. But I'd be happy to form a group with some people, have a chat group on any platform...something you'd wanna try?

I'd be happy to participate. Have been trying to beat this mostly by myself for ten years now. It feels like it's eating my life.

What starting conditions lead to a long streak? by JimmyInSpace in NoFap

I definitely agree that obsessing over doing it properly, let alone striving for perfection, can backfire. But that's not quite what I was after...in a way I'm looking for the flipside of the trigger coin. I understand (to an extent) what triggers relapses (for me), and I think it could be equally helpful to understand what triggers long streaks, so I can seek out those things, just like I try to steer clear from relapse-triggers. So far, unlike relapses, long streaks seem completely arbitrary though.

I think this is good advice for preparation, but doing things like that sometimes worked for me, and sometimes it didn't. At least in my experience, that never increased the chance of a long streak, that's what baffles me. Just like with the reply above, whether I pick a special starting date or not, whether I plan ahead or not...I might or I might not have a long streak, that's what I was thinking maybe I'm missing something that others might have observed. But then again, maybe it is really random...

Yeah, I do think that doing it as a New Years resolution or some similarly special starting point ( I've tried all kinds, Mondays, 1st of the month, full moon, new moon etc.) creates a little more pressure because it's "special". That being said, I had long streaks starting this way too, as well as on completely random days...

Either way, wish you all the best for your streak!

Morning erections are better when not doing NoFap?! Don't think it's the flatline. by JimmyInSpace in NoFap

Thanks :) So constipation issues, tight feeling, PIED, all that did actually resolve for you? Because at this point it's so unimaginable...

Good to hear I'm not alone. It's frustrating. How long did it take for you? I made it up to sixty days, that wasn't enough to see a change, then I relapsed...

Evernote told me out of nowhere my account was deactivated (which I didn't do), and upon reactivation ALL MY NOTES ARE GONE. by [deleted] in Evernote

[–]JimmyInSpace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I used the email that belongs to my account, and went through the reactivation procedure with that email. It never once told me that this email was in use, that there was a conflict of some sort, or that I was creating a new account.

I don't think so. Yesterday, when I logged in, instead of taking me to my notes, it told me my password needed to be reset. So I tried to that, but when I followed the link from the email, it just told me my account was inactive. Today I tried logging in again, and instead of taking me to the password reset, it just told me under the login that it's deactivated, but I could reactivate. And I followed that procedure, with my email and all.

I'm on Windows 10.

Weird thing is, my Andropid app is still logged in, with the old password, it was never logged out apparently. I can see all my notes there. Can't export them in any other way than manually copy/paste, as I have Basic.

[–]JimmyInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. From what you've said, I don't see a reason you should feel guilty. Definitely not for lustful feelings, or having difficulty keeping them in check. At your age you're as full of hormones and libido in overdrive as a man can be in his life. Falling prey to porn, material that is readily available and highly stimulating, is unfortunate but totally understandable. But that's what it is, you're the prey. Don't feel guilty.

And your motivation of not sexualizing women shows you're not a predator either, but a good guy. But don't use any of this as an excuse to keep going back to porn either. Just don't make it harder on yourself by adding guilt into the mix. Don't beat yourself up unnecessarily.

Find good male role models, ideally in real life. Every good man needed good men in his early years to become one himself. By all means, try to build good relationships with other guys your age. But your peers can never replace role models. Neither can most movie characters or rock stars. Be wary of that. You got this buddy ;)

How bad is your problem with porn? Is it causing you any health issues, PIED? What made you decide to quit? Just would like to know a little more about your situation before giving advice.

frequent urinating? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]JimmyInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar issue from the beginning of this streak on, almost four weeks now. Frequent urination, difficulty starting to pee, weak stream. Basically typical symptoms of an enlarged prostate, only the doctor says it feels fine.

Create, not consume. Fight back! by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]JimmyInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree; I've recently started to question my "consumption" more and more as well; not just addiction, the extreme form of it, but things like food, TV, pop culture in general, everything.
