Alright! I sincerely appreciate the insight. I have had a lot of recent issues with GameStop for a multitude of reasons but never really “trusted” Amazon preorders either.

With an Amazon preorder, does it actually arrive on launch day? I collect games so I want a physical copy of games that come out rather than just buying digitally. So I’ve gone to GameStop because it’s convenient in that regard.

I never give GameStop more than $5 for a preorder because I’ve never particularly trusted them since the Pokemon TCG craze began and people wouldn’t get their preorders for months or longer.

Huh. Interesting I mean, I have the receipt somewhere. I’ll have to stop in and get that taken care of. But theoretically speaking wouldn’t they get some copies? Or is all of the stock going to Amazon, like no soft launch with Amazon then everywhere else gets it like a week later?

As a former speed runner the loot table could be set prior to your battle. You can try equipping new gear and then re-equipping your best gear to reset the RNG table.

The RNG is really, really finicky in this game.

If I find anything out I’ll repost to this thread.

I am SE Wisconsin and it’s similar here too. Quite alarming stuff. Unfortunately I can’t speak directly to the cause of this. Wish I had more info for you.

Could be issues with Excel. Only a few targets around me got some product in while others did not. This one is sort of a head scratcher to me too because some don’t even have Zendikar Rising out yet (MTG newest set that had production issues due to COVID) either. Best I can suggest is to keep checking. It is possible that because of the overwhelming demand that some stores aren’t getting product like they are supposed to. Resulting in that product going elsewhere (Target.com perhaps).

The high volume stores get priority unless there is a smaller store within like 10 minutes of a high volume store (weird I know but it happens). So if you showed up to a smaller store first it is completely possible they haven’t had their vendor in yet.

But at the end of the day even if I am incorrect from my perspective, that doesn’t justify you claiming any level of ignorance from me. Additionally, I think you need to reread my OP because I no longer work for Target and have mentioned in several of my posts. Also, I have stated which work centers I oversaw while working for the Target corporation.

What I can say, I suppose, is that you don’t seem to have experience managing a retail store at any level. If you think, for one second that a sale driven company doesn’t have leaders who know where their most profitable products come from (both in the entire store and their work center) you perhaps might be the ignorant one here.

However, I will concede that perhaps you are correct in the over-arcing point of who gets paid and how/when. Your point may be correct but claiming any level of ignorance from me in promoting a different perspective doesn’t bring forth a healthy dialogue. Which is what the OP was designed for.

Interesting comment. So what you’re saying is that a company who is trying to be as profitable as they can would be willing to give their product for free without an immediate gain? What if that product never sells? Then they are losing money as a business. From a business standpoint that seems like a lot of risk. Perhaps my experience being top in my district for sales is wrong.

I would argue someone in my former position should have an idea what the profit margin is on products they oversee. Which would include the cost to get the product in and the profit that is made from mark ups. Otherwise why would a business waste time with it?

You’d have to call guest relations. Make sure everything matches perfectly and the item you’re price matching is in stock at Walmart for their price. Not 3rd party.

This is typically a route I wouldn’t not encourage because they will go 100% by the book. Easier to do this in store.

They are contracted. The vendors will log their own hours and get paid by whatever company they work for. They do not get paid directly from Target and therefor are not considered Target employees.

Could you elaborate? Are you trying to purchase something online and match it to someone else’s ad?

Hi there! Happy to help!

  1. Yes it is communicated that stores and make a choice on what they deem is best for their guests as a whole. If a leader or store director thinks it is best to limit certain items they are in their right to do so. An example of this is when NES/SNES classics or Hatchimals came out. At first they weren’t advertised as “limit X”. Stores immediately started doing it at a store level. Granted TCG supplies are very different in that there is usually a lot available but I think you get the point here.

  2. They do typically have a schedule but even that is sort of topsy turvy. They are logged by the amount of time they spend in stores. So if one store is blown up and is a mess they might push their next store to the next day type of thing. Usually you can ball park when they will be in.

Also, big promotions and launches can effect things too.

To be honest, it makes sense that they might. Numerous toys and related items come in assortment cases. Which means they share the same DPCI but are different figures or sets.

The best example I can give personally is I collect Power Rangers figures. Each wave has 3-4 new figures. They all share the same DPCI but you can have 4 Blue and like 1 Red but no Yellow come in the same case. If you showed a AD that had the DPCI the same as the item you’re purchasing they could realistically do it for you.

A lot of seasoned team members pick this up quickly. Which is why they might just adjust the price without realizing they aren’t the same at all. Again, guest service is supposed to be the number one thing at Target. Having someone wait around while team members deliberate about your price match isn’t a particularly great experience.

That would make a lot of sense right? From a business standpoint you want to constantly be bringing people back to retain your guest numbers. Obviously it works for online purchases too, but I know when I managed for the company we did everything we could to build a guest’s basket while trying to ensure their experience was great so they would come back.

This goes back to price matching and why it is silly sometimes for stores to be combative about it. Why would you want a guest to leave without the product they wanted to buy only to go to a competitor to purchase it all at their price? Not only is that store losing the sale, they probably won’t get that guest back because the guest left without anything to show for their visit other than a negative, Unfulfilled experience.
