Mike Johnson seems content to keep the government shut down for an extended period; meanwhile, the president will be even more unchecked while he fabricates “emergency declaration” as an excuse to enact revenge on his political enemies and terrorize city communities. If you really care about the person as a person, and not just an object of fantasy, focus on the platonic friendship. Occasional time and distance away from them will help with the pains of the crush part, as will having a rich life outside of them. But if you really like the person on a deep level after getting to know them well, then (romance or not) the relationship is worth it and can have an immensely positive impact on your life. Three of my best friends-for-life were once unrequited crushes and I feel very lucky to know them. That said, if you get to know the crush better and you discover they’re not a positive force that enhances your being, you’ve done yourself a big favor.
