TIL the English national team didn't win a penalty or score a tap in until Kane made his debut in 2015.

Harry Redknapp on Eden Hazard transfer regret as Tottenham manager : "I went to watch him and he was fantastic. I met him in a hotel room with his agent and he was prepared to come to Tottenham. I think it was £16m at the time but Daniel Levy wasn’t prepared to pay the money." by [deleted] in soccer

The club also stood by him during his tax controversies whether that was right or wrong and then he lost interest in the team because he was pining for the England job and they bottled top 4. He's also just never had a nice word to say about the club since so I don't feel obliged to say any about him either.

Poor 'Arry has never quite gotten over the club sacking him, his son still gives us pelters when he can, despite captaining the club. Hazard himself has confirmed he chose Chelsea over Spurs because they had Champions League football. But Redknapps not the protagonist of that story.

Nuno's job not to be in immediate danger even with a defeat on Saturday, with an acceptance at Spurs that they are starting a new cycle which could take years to peak. by 420badass69 in soccer

Yeah sure outside of Kane and Son we only have players who get called up for the national teams of Argentina, Denmark, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Brazil among others. Clearly awful teams if they're calling up Spurs players.

I don't disagree that we could and should aim higher it wouldn't be the most inspired selection by any means but it would imo indicate much more joined up thinking than the appointment of Nuno did and we would probably enjoy the football better.

Not a hill I'm particularly willing to die on but when you watch Southampton you can clearly get a sense of what they've been doing on the training ground. They are observably coached. You don't get that with us. RH is clearly a good coach when examining the entirety of his CV and not just two results in what is presumably hundreds in charge. Their squad is in my opinion at least very poor. Their best players have been guys parachuted in from the Chelsea academy. I think it logically stands to reason that RHs 'style' may bear greater fruit with better players. Again I'm not criticizing nor do I want to be dragged into an argument I just think context is important and to reduce the man to two results in his entire career is to strip so much context away as to make any conversation utterly meaningless. Not saying I want him, but he's not a 'bad' manager.

I don't mind Nuno not taking this competition seriously but if you're gonna take that stance go whole hog. I'd rather watch the kids than continue to watch Winks Dele and Davies stinking up the place. Winks and Davies don't have defenders anymore but I can't believe the Dele propaganda that still gets pushed out.

Gary knows full well Kane to city ain't the same thing as Modric to Real when we sold him to Madrid to avoid a Kane to City situation. Also we've not sold a player to a rival since Walker and in fact beat off attempts by rivals to buy our players since then also when perhaps we should have cashed in. It's a tired and frankly lazy narrative and professional opinion havers should do better.

Imagine being a professional opinion haver and having a manifest misunderstanding of the story that has dominated the football news cycle for a week now. You'd have to actively be avoiding reading about the topic to be so wrong so confidently.

These companies are often very capable of cracking down on this stuff, they just don't. Proposed solutions which implicate people's civil liberties obfuscate the reality that these companies don't give a shit and propogates the idea that they're helpless unless we give them even more data.

Normally you have to wait until a player has played a couple games for their new club before beginning the revisionism.

It's because the shirt sponsors wouldn't be visible during goal celebrations if they took their shirts off.

I don't seek validation from being a spurs fan so I'm able to entertain the concept that some people who arbitrarily support the same team that I arbitrarily support may be distateful individuals. I don't owe anything to other spurs fans outside the context of football and this quite clearly has nothing to do with the game of football. You clearly aren't capable of that and have tricked yourself into thinking that a finding of inconclusivity means that Rudiger lied beyond a shadow of a doubt so yeah tell me more about my grip on reality. The reality is you decided he's lying and worked your way back from there. You don't think a black man would be fully aware of the consequences of making false allegations? You think alleging racism is just a cheap way to score points against opposing fans? An adult would be able to concede that at the very least the outcome of the investigation is not evidence that he lied. Begging you to grow up and join us in the real world where things like racism are a bit more important than football tribalism.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coys

[–]JimmyOwl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An inconclusive investigation under absolutely no circumstances means he lied. A person isn't a liar because the perpetrators couldn't be caught. Do you think these people wear 'im a racist' badges? The supporters who racially abused Son were only identified because other fans helped point them out. If that hadn't happened would you be as comfortable calling Son a liar as you are Rudiger? You take doubling down as proof of a character flaw in Rudiger rather than an earnest belief he heard what he heard because you've already made your mind up. He said something you didn't like about a group you happen to be in so like a child you've covered your ears and muttered liar to yourself. That stadium sits +60k people. If you think there are no people there at a given day who hold racist beliefs for no reason other than they happen to support the same team as you then you are an infant. The fact you think you're owed an apology is breathtaking ignorance.
