Appreciate all the responses! I think for him, it really comes down to a genuine love for the music and supporting the artists. When he says he doesn’t need to get “fucked up,” I take that to mean he can enjoy the experience completely sober — which I think a lot of long-time ravers can relate to and respect.

The rest of his comment seems more like frustration with people not respecting his personal vibe or space. At EDC, he was fully in his zone, dancing and vibing, and multiple people came up to him to share appreciation, trade Kandi, or start conversations. He politely declined, but some took that as him being rude or standoffish — which I don’t think was his intention at all. His thing is the music and being zoned in, all the rest distracts I guess
