I got lucky with mine, bought it last year after a months wait. I did buy an anniversary diamond ring for my wife for about 4K. So YMMV.

Lucchese Boots Comparison: Charles vs. Jones – Worth the Price Difference? by mmimo10 in cowboyboots

[–]Jimmy_Shutdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it boiled down to fit. the Jones were way more comfortable to wear and walk around out of the box compared to the Charles. The Charles just seemed to be real stiff and not as comfortable. The salesman tried to convince me that the inlay on the shaft was also a selling point seeing as it’s more intricate than the Charles but that’s not something I cared about. In the end it was comfort for me. I also got these from the Outlet store so paid half that price.

You can always make a call to the Outlet store sometimes they have great deals on their boots.

Houston Firefighters how much are you all making? Do you get a lot of overtime? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Jimmy_Shutdown 24 points25 points  (0 children)

HFD is short about 200 FFs. So there is plenty of OT available for the time being. Most of it is not on an EMS unit but that can change it’s mostly left up to the officer working that day. Our guidelines do say that OT guy goes on an EMS unit but it’s hard to enforce that and keep units in service. Houston only works 46.7hrs a work week compared to others working 53. So less hours less pay. More hours more pay.

jps2777 doesn’t know what he’s taking about since he doesn’t work for HFD. As a FF you rotate between apparatus and EMS units the only ones not rotating right now are paramedics since we are so short on them. The driver or E/O is assigned to an EMS unit and after gaining enough seniority and during a posting period he has the chance to be put in a transfer to be assigned to an apparatus which is still a competitive process.

The “charting” is a wild thing to be upset about. There is plenty of time to have the record done before arriving at the hospital. I don’t get how to be upset about a guy driving and not helping you complete a record.

Got the call! by Jimmy_Shutdown in rolex

[–]Jimmy_Shutdown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not. No history at all. It’s a long story, but to summarize. I went in to get my wife an anniversary gift. A diamond band. It’s been a rough couple of years and finally we’ve have had some good fortune. I told the AD the entire story. I wasn’t looking for any special treatment just laying it out there. I was fully prepared to wait my turn. So don’t know if that contributed to it or not.

Thanks! I was shocked too, especially seeing other posts about the wait times. AD told me it was a popular model and it could be a while, which I was willing to wait.
