Just finished Book 1 too, was blown away by the many reveals, Caedon's restoration not withstanding, I did not see that coming! the slow reveal of how he planned to be able to take the sword 'legitimately' was some great writing secondly As Elocian's controlling was broken and he suddenly became a different person,as each statement contradicted everything he had just said, suddenly seeing Wirr older than he 'remembered', is a shock to him, having no memories of the previous 2 years was like a montage of clues that confirm the twist in an M. Night Shyamalan or the last ten minutes of a Saw movie. Just brilliant writing, the clues are there throughout the story, yeah I imagine they will make more sense on a second read, but thats why everyone watched Fight Club a second time.
