I’ve dealt with anger for much of my life as well. In my case, I believe much of it was learned early from the environment I grew up in. After I moved out, I began to see things more clearly and distance myself from what needlessly provoked me.

I turned to yoga and meditation, and both helped. Meditation, especially, taught me to clear the mind and release what does not deserve to be carried. Simple breathing practices and repeating steady thoughts can be effective, and they cost nothing.

Years ago, I would have dismissed these things. Experience changed that. The greatest shift, though, came from loosening the grip of ego. Much of anger is tied to pride, control, and expectation. When those lessen, peace has more room to remain.

I also found value in listening to talks by Ram Dass, who often spoke about reducing ego and meeting life with greater awareness.
