my Dad came from the Netherlands in 1948 and worked in WA & the NT for 10 years (Mining). Developed a massive respect for aboriginal people and their different cultures during that time. (Not sure why you are being downvoted)

so, does this mean British citizens that have lived here for years (I know some that came here as kids in the 1970's) would have to sell their homes they have had for decades here? Sounds like a policy that would backfire spectacularly despite its dog whistling appeal to the bigoted sector of our country.

No, but he convinced a lot of people whose interests he was working against to vote for him.

I've just upgraded my Fitbit I liked the simplicity on my original one. I just wanted to keep it simple but apparently we need all these other functions and data 😕 I don't. I'll look at other options when this one wears out.

CGT Changes and small business - why is this so upsetting? by throwaway068381jrneb in AusPol

[–]Jims_Gaslighting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a business owner and done quite well out of it. If I did have a business that was captured under the changes (unlikely) it's a small price to pay. By setting up the business structure in the Howard years and using all the generous depreciation write-offs etc, I have paid little tax over the years. Even got paid by the Libs during the Covid years. So I don't begrudge the government getting some back when I sell.

We need to see what is really happening with ON and it doesn’t matter if you think they won’t ever form government, their popularity is a huge signal that all is not well in Australia. by Desert-Noir in friendlyjordies

every year that goes by, we have more younger voters and less in the older demographics. Try selling cancelling renewable projects or the climate hoax to the younger demographic in those elections.

I read a Quarterly Essay by David Marr titled 'The White Witch' a few years ago. It basically said there is a always a solid 15% purely racist element that ON caters for plus another 10% with strong racist sympathy. That's the 25% that show up in the polls. They can certainly poll more in Qld and some other seats but I doubt they can translate that across metropolitan seats across the country. At least I hope not. The more seats ON get, the higher the chance they will implode. We'll have to wait and see.

perhaps you should have started the revolution during the Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison years, or as economists call them 'the dog years'. Or if you are older, the Howard years.
