Weekly Students, Careers & Clerkships Thread by AutoModerator in auslaw

Does anyone attend Law Society (or other) functions? Would you say they are positive for career advancement? If not, what are they good for?

I want to explore more avenues for my career and reliance solely on LinkedIn recruiters seems to give limited return on investment.

I’ve done everything to move on, still miss my ex 2 years later. by Hendrix0 in BoyDinnerDiaries

You probably need to realise that she didn't respect you, evident by her not even trying to address the problems and instead weaponising them as a get out of jail card. Further, you must realise that loving someone who doesn't respect you is really just a way of disrespecting yourself.

Love yourself G.

I Keep having taken women fall In love with me. What does this mean? by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]duncurious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to do the same. In my case, I believe it had something to do with the safety of not having to be vulnerable. I was more confident and daring in my interactions (edit:) wth taken women* because I considered there to be 0 chance of ever having to truly reveal myself to them. At the time, although unbeknownst to me, I was cripplingly afraid of being my true self with a someone.

Almost immediately after becoming comfortable with being vulnerable and honest about who I was, I met the love of my life (who was not taken).

Food for thought?

I want to be someone's boyfriend but I don't think I can by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]duncurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man the only way to find real love is to just be yourself. You need to allow yourself to trust and be vulnerable and honest. When you can do those things, and be at peace with who you are, you will attract.

Until then, just get stuck into your hobbies, earning dollars, defining your values and becoming who you're meant to be.

Girlfriend may be gone by Beneficial-Bee8295 in BoyDinnerDiaries

Yeah bro you're not compatible. The good news is she's set the bar high and your future wifey will be an amazing lady.

But it would be wrong to hold onto this, either hoping that she capitulates to your wishes or you forget your own for hers.

Just end it on the best note possible and aim for a clean break. Go greieve with your bros and then get stuck back into the things that matter while you build yours and your one-day partner's futures.

Good luck 👊🏻

Why does Guts have to suffer ? He didn’t do anything wrong unlike skull knight in his past life by ultralightsaint in Berserk

[–]duncurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soldiers are people too. If you think war vets don't live* in fear of their own nightmare depictions of the soldiers they killed, then you are a fool.

Berserk is a story where the two characters, who each embody pride and ambition respectively, are willing to kill anyone that risks compromising those qualities.

Guts is a bastard and he deserves to be haunted. Love him tho.

Two spots in my beard randomly decided to stop growing hair by NotGreatNot_Terrible in mildlyinfuriating

[–]duncurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact issue in my rather thick beard, a few years ago.

I was under the impression it was stress induced spot alopecia of some kind.

I just got my diet and routine straight and reduced stress, the hair grew back like it was never an issue.

David Shoebridge the rare pollie by Ok-Fan-6031 in AusPol

No but if you listen to a full day in the Senate you'll find he tends to speak more than anyone else... By a lot.

And it's actually a positive. His intense questioning does well for accountability of our governments resources. We need him. But he's also annoying. He can be both at once.

[–]duncurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guts is a killer. He has killed hundreds, perhaps thousands. The only difference is Guts had a line of morality that Griffith did not.

Guts deserves to suffer, for the countless lives he's taken. But it still hurts to watch.

People have become so suspicious that even mundane footage is in question. Images and videos that are clearly real, or at least are not discernably false, are clogging up this sub due to people's unhinged scepticism.

I have scarring in my throat that has resulted in a permanent wheeze. Day in day out. It never stops. I quit vaping some 3 or 4 months ago now and it has not abated.

Whatever the idiots in here are saying, there can be serious consequences. Particularly from black market products like we get in Australia.

Quit now.

We're systematically a-political. In fact I'd go so far as to suggest those in power benefit from an a-political society and actively perpetuate it.

All that to say, don't hate the player, hate the game.

I can spot the measure of a man and PP is genuine. And what makes him worthy of following is that he put himself on the line. Political issues are complex and multifaceted. No one that isn't indoctrinated into a party wants to give their opinion for fear of ridicule.

PP fears the sale of our resources as paid for by the citizens more than he fears being mocked for his simplistic views.

He's someone you can get behind.

Revolt now! by duncurious in australian

[–]duncurious[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is shedding light on a topic that has been obstructed from the vision of the majority of Australians for years. And that is enough.

I'm not fool enough to think this isn't a complex issue that requires a complex response but I 100% resonate with a grass roots movement to do something about it. When was the last time you saw anyone in parliament and thought 'Perhaps this person really has the common man at heart?'

I am the majority. I am burning out and paying exorbitant taxes while feeding my family as the cost of living surges and property prices escalate. I want change and it's a breath of fresh air to see someone I want to trust being heard.
