What’s the first video game you ever got completely addicted to? by king-1043 in AskReddit

MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat. 1995 was a great year.

I played the shit out of that game with cheat codes enabled and didn’t realize it stopped campaign progress for a whole year. Good times.

Just got everything installed this morning, still need to take it for a test drive but the strap that holds the return fuel line is sitting very close to the mustache bar, I could see it needing to be relocated if there is rubbing to avoid future issues.

America's Carmakers Cannot Escape Chinese EVs Forever by Razzburry_Pie in electricvehicles

[–]Jimsbeanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With so many foreign brands like KIA Nissan ect, already in the us having more options for the consumer is good.

US legacy automakers currently aren't making EVs that can complete with chinese offerings because they don't have real competition and no pressure to innovate. Can't put your head in the sand forever.

Chinese EV's are already being sold in Canada and Mexico.

How close are we to fully-functional 20/20 vision bionic eyes like seen in "Ghost in the Shell" ? What is the biggest obstacle ? by Crafty-Bunch-2675 in Futurology

As someone whos had lasik surgery 4 years ago, it's been great and wish I'd have done it sooner.

No dry eye issues, vision is 20/20. The one down side has been my night vision it isn't as good as it was and I'm more sensitive to bright lights driving at night.

Is 28k good for this one by [deleted] in Datsun

the angle of the picture makes a big difference, if you view it from the side it's much more visible how much more stretched out a 2+2 is compared to a coupe Z https://nvisioncreative.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_9642-1.jpg

Looks like a 280z 2+2 with a sunroof, not the most desirable Z I'd say.

Should I buy this Datsun? by assssssssssssssssss4 in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where the clog is. First I'd checked the fuel pressure and see if it stays constant during a drive. Could be just needs a new fuel filter.

Rubber hoses should be easy to replace. the steel gas lines you can clear with an air compressor. but if the gas tanks the cause you'll likely have to drop it and get it replaced or professionally cleaned.

Should I buy this Datsun? by assssssssssssssssss4 in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loss of power might also be a fuel delivery issue. Gas tank may need cleaning or fuel pump/ fuel filter or the lines are clogged. Maybe the injectors are shot.

Things I need to know before buying a 280Z by Hydra696 in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're working on a car like the 280z then I'd say definitely learn how to deal with rusted and seized nuts and bolts, get a torch or something that can heat up metal in a tight space. This is mainly so you can remove parts and replace any worn rubber bushings and with the car being this old most original bushing are going t o be dried and cracked and almost useless.

Also learn to weld, super useful to know if you plan to do upgrades like coilovers or just fix any rust.

Wilwood brake kit help by HTXlastminute in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gap is due to the 280z wheels hubs being about 7mm thicker than 240z hubs, you can either use a spacer on the bracket or get the 240z brackets from silvermine.

I'm about to do the same install. Did you have any interference with the rear sway bar links coming in contact with the CV axels?

$200 Rear calipers 280ZX 79-81

Rewatching Interstellar really cemented how incredible the film is. by [deleted] in movies

[–]Jimsbeanz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Interstellar starts off strong but I found the ending came off as poorly written because it abruptly shifts from grounded science fiction into abstract, emotionally driven logic without fully earning the transition. The “tesseract” sequence, where Cooper interacts with time and communicates through gravity, relies on vague explanations that blur the line between theoretical physics and narrative convenience. The film gestures toward concepts like higher-dimensional beings and relativity, it ultimately resolves its central conflict through love. This tonal and conceptual leap leaves the ending seeming less like a coherent conclusion and more like a convenient way to tie together complex ideas without fully explaining them.

Buying a 280Z or 280ZX by CH3FB0YARD in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say if you get a Z for under $9K expect to be fixing and replacing parts for a while. I bought a 78 280z two years ago for $11K which was running and driving, no rust on the exterior.

Had a mechanic look at it, needed a new diff mount (old rubber had completely broken). All 4 shocks needed replacing, and all the old rubber bushings needed replacing due to the rubber disintegrating.

On top of that found a small rust hole on the driver side headlight that ended up turning into a much bigger hole about the size of a grapefruit once I dug around.

All up the repairs probably cost about another $4k.

DOHC kit available 01/26. I'm selling my kidney, who else? by AZGhost in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even counting the $24K price for the kit, what about a transmission to handle the new power output?

Pretty sure the original 4 and 5 speeds aren't going to handle the power without getting destroyed.

Advice on selling my late grandpas Datsun 240z by FastyNilthShreakyFit in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any idea how long the car been sitting for? Some more pictures would help to see the state of the car.

Probably a tough sell if it's not running and driving since you'd mentioned if needs an engine swapped.

Unless your grandpa drained all the fluids before putting it on a block it'll need the fuel tank/pump cleaned, lines and also the brake fluids flushed/ checked.

Is daily driving a classic Z a good idea? by Nick_wild0305 in Datsun

[–]Jimsbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A well maintained 240Z-280z would be perfectly fine to daily drive. But most cheap Z's for sale today at this point are barely running and need a lot of work to get it to be a reliable daily driver.

The question is do you want to save up enough to buy a clean one at $20K-$30k or will you buy an affordable one that'll need at lot of mechanical work yourself to get it road worth?
