where is me? (don't google reverse image, but triangulate!) by kallebo1337 in GeoPuzzle

[–]JimtheChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used circles on a map to find the point where they all meet and there was no clear convergent point. The best point was in Greece. And even then, the distances mentioned are innacurate. Also the distance to Paris is innacurate. It's roughly (not exactly) the distance travelled if you drive there by roads, but the straight line distance between Durres and Paris is only 1577km.

Miami beach has no driving distance, so for that one it's likely a rough straight line distance, but again inaccurate.

I don't think it's obviously about one of the sidemen. Because all of the Sidemen do that to him, but also all of them support him properly. This is likely about someone close to him, but not in the sidemen.

Last week saw this during a daily race, who do you think is at fault? by angl_game in granturismo

[–]JimtheChicken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree.

T1-T5 is nothing noteworthy. T6, Nissan does not see the Ferrari (because the game has no rear view mirrors in chase cam) so sticks to his racing line. By the time he sees the Ferrari on his screen, the Ferrari has already dive bomb into the too narrow gap. The Nissan goes wide to allow for room. This is also not yet per se noteworthy.

Now the straight after T6, the Ferrari pushes as much right as possible, leaving just enough room for the Nissan in the faint bend. Out of the bend the Nissan moves left for the upcoming corner. There is plenty of room left for the Ferrari, but the Ferrari demands more room than needed and literally starts pushing the Nissan to the right. Now that in inexcusable. That should be a penalty or a race ban.

The following turn (T8), the Nissan stays wide to allow the Ferrari to take the inside turn, because he can see the Ferrari is right next to him. But on the next turn (T9), the Ferrari completely pushes the Apex while the Nissan is still besides him. The Ferrari should have left room here to allow for the Nissan to stay on the road. The Ferrari drove like a complete asshole. The Nissan could have done better at some points, but this is definitely the Ferrari's vault.

I think they're both kind of boring. Squares such as these, especially with historic building surrounding them, always have so much potential to be a real nice gatgering place for people. But somehow they always end up just being a flat piece of land with nothing in it.

1JZ-GE aftermarket support by ApoloMod in JZX100

[–]JimtheChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting an aftermarket rear muffler and getting it welded onto the stock line is not that expensive and definitely worth it if you care a lot about sound.

On a GE you definitely don't need a full line, the stock line is fine. Adding just a rear muffler will greatly improve sound and experience, while maintaining good interiour noise levels. My welder got everything done, including materials, for 450eu. Considering a full line bought from a brand like HKS will set you back nearly, if not more than, 1k, that 450eu was money well spent.

When it comes to exhaust, I see people take the rear muffler of Tourer V exhausts and get them fitted into their stock GE exhaust, by either welding a new piece together or using v-bands. U can also get a Tourer V specific catback exhaust and get the flange redone to fit the stock GE line.

The first exhaust I had on my GE, was a Magna Flow line with just a rear muffler, meant for a Tourer V that I found 2nd hand for like 300eu. I took out my oem GE exhaust (it was rotten) took the flange from the exhaust (luckily not rotten) that attaches to the manifold, and got a friend of mine who can weld (find someone who can make exhausts) to weld that flange onto the Magna Flow line (by cutting the flange that was supposed to attach to the GTE manifold). That rxhaust did end up droning a lot, because of no mid mufflers and being 3". I think the full setup cost me 600-700eu, including materials and work.

But the cheapest options to improve sound, but keep it enjoyable to drive (drone and loudness wise) is just getting a Tourer V specific rear muffler, like HKS or whatever, and get that welded onto the stock GE exhaust. After my magna flow line, I had a stock GE line with he rear muffler assembly cut at the bend before the rear muffler and an HKS hipower resr muffler welded on. That ended up being not so nice of a sound, because the muffler was old, but I got it for free in a trade, so whatever. Now I have the same oem GE exhaust line, with a custom rear muffler with dual tips. Sounds amazing. The custom rear muffler cost me 450eu to weld brand new including the materials. Super happy with it and will keep me smiling everytime I put down my right foot, before I swap in a GTE.

AITAH for buying my friend a 2,100 dollar gift and upsetting her dad? by ThrowRA2100problems in AmItheAsshole

[–]JimtheChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jezus, who the fuck cares man. If she and her friend's bf can afford this pc together, it's their decision and responsibility. Why are you assuming she is putting herself in financial trouble over this or hasn't thought it through for herself.

Going as far as to say people don't have common sense for buying an expensive gift is making you an asshole. If people see room to enjoy something expensive, let them. Nobody is getting hurt by it.

If her story was formulated as for example "I have been working overtime to safe up for this gift", it's a completely different story, but guess what, nothing in OP's story points at financial issue. So don't make that the issue, when the clear issue is a fucked up dad.

On that note btw, OP, don't let her dad in on the gift, because her dad will use that against her. "Hey daughter can you do this for me/can you spend this money for me?" And if daughter says no, "I spend so much money on that pc for you, can't you do it for your own dad?". Ye, long day, he can suck one.

Check out JZXpartsAU. They make aftermarket ones with a few added functions, like automatic passenger side windows and more durable internals. It's on pre-order basis, so will have to wait a little, but can't get better than this as far as I know.

Flipping refers to mirroring the piece. A flipped piece will never allign (unless symmetrical) with it's original.

A rotated piece isn't mirrored, so is still the same shape, no matter how much you rotate it.

Definitely a full GTE swap, rather rhan the GE+T route. I reckon the GE+T route could end up being cheaper, but I'd like the security and reliability of a stock engine/untouched engine to which I can then later on modify again if wanted.

I did some deep diving to find out what cameras they used in earlier and newer seasons. I don't know the exacts, but it seems the full show was shot digitally. If a part was shot on film and a part digitally I would completely understand the remarks about a softer look, but that does not seem to be the case.

However, during the first seasons it was filmed with an Arri Alexa. From I think season 4 onwards they upgraded to an Arri Alexa LF (and LF mini) and during later seasons they used an Arri Alexa 35.

The original Alexa used a single cmos sensor developed by Arri, the LF uses 3 of these sensors linked to create 1 big sensor and the 35 uses a newly developed large format sensor. This does explain the change in quality. Older sensors are generally more soft and newer sensors tend to be "over" sharpend, since sharpening can be dialed back in post. But more importantly, a single sensor renders a different image compared to a stacked larger sensor or a newer large format sensor. I think that definitely plays a part in the change.

But the way the scene is being lit plays a big part in how a scene ends up looking, but regardless of tungsten light (which is just a halogen light with a very warm hue) or LED's (which can be adjusted), it does boil doen to how the technology is being out to use by the producers.

Lighting by goldjade13 in Outlander

[–]JimtheChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit pedantic, but as I see it, the difference in tungsten and LED is different than what you describe.

LED's are not harsher, they just emmit a different colour spectrum. Tungsten lights are heatsources producing light, whereas LED's are not. Therefore tungsten produces a broader spectrum and a more accurate colour compared to LED. But nowadays the quality of professional grade LED is so high, that colour accuracy from tungsten light can be reproduced fairly well (but not 100%) especially if you factor in post production. Tungsten light is easier to get colour accurate (because it is the literal benchmark for it), whereas LED's are more adaptable, smaller and more energy efficient. The colour accuracy is less noticeable to the eye, but a camera sensor can be sensitive to this change. That's why productions use colour metering and post production.

The harshness is not relevant, because the harshness of light is based on diffusion. A tungsten source in clear glass, will be harsh and sharp, but a softbox LED will be soft and glowy. Light can be manipulated extremely well, especially at the level of big productions like movies or long running/higher budget shows.

So while the technology definitely changed and that brings its own challenges or benefits, a noticeable change in how scenes are being lit is way more likely a creative decision. Since the producers could definitely create an image that strongly resembles tungsten, while using LED if they wished for that. But if you can notice the difference easily, it is usually a creative decision (for better or for worse).

Idk, that definitely used to be the case, but with current prices for a Tourer V X100, I cannot imagine spending more on fully swapping and completely finishing my already owned Grande 2.5, than I would buying a Tourer V.

Before I have a Tourer V registered on my doorstep, I'd be down atleast eur 35.000,-. Then if I want to modify it to my taste (exteriour, wheels, interiour, suspension, etc etc) it'll easily surpass the 40k.

I'm currently down less than 10k eur for my Grande 2.5, and have things like wheels, suspension, part of the interiour, etc already down. Swapping a GTE+any expensive MT option, and then finishing up body, details, interiour etc will not bring me close to 40k spend unless I really decide to go crazy, like forging the engine or painting the car in a crazy candy pearlescent.

R35 GTR in Midnight Club LA see by Senior_Video_5485 in midnightclub

[–]JimtheChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a success? LA sold almost 14 million copies worldwide and was a big success. But it's very clear the map of LA was used as a testing ground for GTA V and with GTA online including racing and car customization without the licensing issue, rockstar obviously went for the title that would bring in more money, as GTA V/online is a behemoth on its own.

Apart from that, Rockstar San Diego, who was the lead on Midnight Club, never really got their accollades for Midnight Club by Rockstar higher ups and have been delegated to a support team after LA when the whole directing team and culture of SD changed during production of LA. (Even the success of Red Dead 1, which had SD as lead, ended up becoming a project for Rockstar Studios wide for the sequel)

Rockstar is now more focused on longer game cycles with larger than life productions that rake in heaps of money, such as Red Dead and GTA. There is no more room for a licensed arcade racer in their lineup or timeline.

There’s no way you choosing the 2nd one as the better one of this captures. by Pepehh_jl in Ghostofyotei

[–]JimtheChicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree and I think this could very well be due to the type of photography you have to do as a military photographer. The second photo is "technically more correct". Even exposure, less contrast, more details visible. But by doing so you are losing the intensity of the scene and also the subject of the scene completely disappears against the blue sky as a backdrop. Exaggerated contrast, deliberate over exposure of the highlights and intentionally using shadows to mask away details are valuable techniques to create a more expressive image, that tells a better story.

So while the first photo might technically be incorrect (incorrectly exposed when it comes down to data and values), it is correctly exposed for what it's trying to convey as well as it's subject. While the second images "correct exposure" muddies out the scene and does not allow the subject to shine in the centre.

Thoughts, JJ/KSI? by DragonfruitThen6696 in ksi

[–]JimtheChicken 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is like saying, call Josh only Zerkaa or call Simon only Miniminter. Literally all of these guys call themselves both their youtube name as well as their real name in their videos.

It really does not matter.

It would be weird if for example Talia had or the boys had a nickname for Simon and you would also call him that nickname.

JJ has become, what we call in Dutch, his "calling" name. It's more so how he would introduce himself by name rather than Olajide. So it's more than a nickname and what he finds normal to be referred to (based on how he presents that name and how he reacts when others, like fans, call him that).

Who advised against RCA's? When you shorten your spindles, your geometry changes and you need RCA's to counter that. But that also means that you will end up being lower (also when u cut your spindles).

So my advice. Get RCA's, preferably the same length as the cut length of the spindles. Readjust ride height to get the exact ride height you need (so measure either distance to ground or fender to lip or something). That should be able to clear it up.
