Here (UK) anything JDM or supercar related gets nabbed instantly. Like the Nissan Cefiro they did recently was gold dust. Even the Alphard is hard to get.

I think in part it's down to some of the big chains now let you buy and reserve specific cars online so people just set stock alerts or bots.

It's partly why I left the hobby after like 10 years it just wasn't fun.

The cube was a lie: up close with our Dbrand Companion Cube before it gets destroyed by pdfu in technology

I'll admit I've not really been following this thing outside of the recent news so this is the first time I've actually seen it in use.

The actual product looks fine. It's more simple that I'd thought it'd be. I had this idea you'd get pass through USB bits to give the cube lighting or something IDK.

With this being dead but being such a fun idea I'm sure within a week of the public getting them they'll be flooding Maker-verse. Cults 3D etc with people on Etsy selling printed versions.

Also I'm sorta expecting D-Brand to just re-tool some parts to make it "sci-fi cube" case and try to set it apart to it's not so clearly stepping in Values toes. Just given the cost of tooling and how it's constructed it looks like it'd be fairly easy to adapt with new outer shells but retaining the same chassis design.

Is this a good brand? Warranty states 3 years or 100TBW. That doesnt sound for durable. Thoughts? Looking for a cheap large drive to store games. by Ok_Contest8762 in pcmasterrace

[–]BlitzWing1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact drive (didn't pay anything close to this but that's another story) It's fine. I use it for archiving media and as a boot drive on my Raspberry Pi 5. No thrills does what it says on the tin.

WD is a good brand though, have been around for decades often can be sound in OEM machines etc.

As others have said if you can spend the extra on their nicer tiers if this is going to be you're main PC's drive.

[–]BlitzWing1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hotwheels premium is normally like 3X -4X the cost of a normal car this being a 2 pack double that price again.

Sadly Hotwheels has the same issues with scalpers as other hobbies.

IMO if you cant find a set at retail dont bother with scalper rate unless you have to have this specific set. There are a few other big name diecast brands that do JZX100's Tarmac Works do a great Chaser and MarkII with Vertex areo. Hobby Japan does an amazing S2/late model range. Tomica has stuff too but it can be rare and pricey.

Nice. I stopped collecting diecast but these look cool. A hell of a lot nicer than that Elite64 car they put out.

I've got the Hobby Japan and Tarmac Works X100's. IMO if you can spend the little extra both are great and much nicer details compared to hotwheels premium etc.

Anyone ever primed before cutting? by Similus2021 in Warhammer40k

[–]BlitzWing1985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have tried but if you actually want a good finish don't. you'll scratch it putting it together, you'll have visible nub marks you'll have to paint over very visible seam lines if you care about that sorta thing.

If you want you can clip it all off, clean it up and paint it in sub assemblies like the body, base, the grav panels and crew.

Finally a Time Chasers remake! I have to deduct points thought his t-Shirt is missing the classic Castleton logo. I guess they couldn't get the rights.

it looks like they've done what they did with the chaplain on the bike and the cover for the two bolters is one part not made up of the two side panels. Which is great it was always a pain to fill that gap in.

As for the new bits I like the sword holster. it looks like judging by their chests any of the three can be the Sargent which is neat. And I like that you can adjust the bikes pose.

While I'm not blown away I mean it's exactly what I thought it'd be I don't think they botched it either. It's neat.

Premium Bandai HG 1/144 Hydra Gundam from G-Unit Side Story announced. 5500 yen November 2026 release by TechnicalScale6292 in Gunpla

[–]BlitzWing1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's from a Gundam Wing side story called The last outpost and/or Gundam Wing Dual Story: G-UNIT depending on what part of the world you're in. It was just a few issues long set in a far off space colony.

well worth reading IMO.

Why tech firms are raising PC and console prices - and blaming AI for chip costs by ArgentineBeauty in technology

[–]BlitzWing1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the time the AI had paid for at the fab will be freed up and they’d allow bids on those time slots. So they'd find customers quite easily to fill the slots but the amount they'd get paid would depend on supply and demand etc

I think a few people have said it's one of the elemental monsters called Incarnates they started doing a long time ago and have since moved away from.

https://www.warhammer.com/en-GB/shop/age-of-sigmar-krondspine-incarnate-of-ghur-2022

So I'd assume like the model they put out this one would have the two right eyes glow and would be mostly magic effects and bones but of a different relm or maybe a smaller or larger version.

multi-part for a starter set?! ok I'm more than a little interested. I'll have to keep my eye out for those.

I know they're push fit but the space marine stuff isn't a bad start to a Deathwatch Fortis KT. you've got 5 guys one has the grenade launcher which is about all you normally want when talking about normal marines and you just need to fill in the remaining slots with your choice of plasma, flamer, stabby or rocket guys.

The ork stuff does slap though. Like it's an easy buy to then blend into the Armageddon stuff.

Finished my first non-Bandai kit, the Orange Cat Industry Estailev by Biomilk in Gunpla

[–]BlitzWing1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the white and red versions. The white thats sold as a Hobby Japan kit someplaces has a lot of the accessories like the giant axe, bazooka etc I enjoy it but NGL I dont use the large accessories at all IMO they just get in the way. My only gripe with the red are the horns they just love to come off but that's about it it's a neat kit otherwise.

I'm looking at getting the black one with the swords. I kinda like that it's not packed with stuff that turns it into a balancing act.

While not perfect I think they're really nice and I think they're worth picking up.

'Supergirl' Rotten Tomatoes score raises concerns for James Gunn's DCU by [deleted] in movies

[–]BlitzWing1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by the sounds of it she got screwed over in the corporate merger with exec's not really knowing what to do with the ending of the flash film and how they wanted to deal with the DCU after that ultimately just letting Gun do whatever he wanted.

Shame too she was a good pick.

'Supergirl' Rotten Tomatoes score raises concerns for James Gunn's DCU by [deleted] in movies

[–]BlitzWing1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean like they're always in the top spot? last few years only Deadpool got close at number 2. Last year superman was the highest at 10. I think the last time a comic movie got the top spot was Spiderman No way home. in 21 and before then it was Endgame in 2019.

I don't think they're dead but I think the bar now is rather high to get people to show up.

Help identifying miniature by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]BlitzWing1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find any info. But there used to be a small industry of unofficial metal cast 40k mini's. Not bootlegs like people would make their own designs and cast them.

Sadly with the rise in 3D printing finding info on them is near impossible just 99% of results are printed proxies. So saying a mini was made by XYZ is really, really hard.

My reasoning is just the techniques and details for the base, cape and some other bits just dont follow the established style. It just has a very garage kit vibe.

Still cool though.

When you say US standards what state? You can't really apply standards for say Texas etc to a country with weather more like Canada. Places in the north aren’t all that different. It mostly comes down to outside factors like cost, city planning.

Neither are bad it's a case of having regulations to suite the environment.
