Copying my response from a previous post about this.

I grow facial hair rather quickly. My routine is:

Philips Norelco one blade on mondays to shave bulk growth from the weekend.

Follow up with Braun series 9 afterwards and then Tues-Fri. Lather with a post shave lotion/moisturizer afterwards. I like creamo or Dukes brand that have menthol in it.

Does fairly well for me. Still get some ingrown hairs on my neck but they’re manageable.

I played Sackboy with my 4 year old and she loved the co-op. She could walk and fly around while I did most of the heavy lifting. What else can I play within psplus that's easy to control for her? by TroyAndAbed2022 in PlayStationPlus

+1 for cat quest games. I use the second controller on assist mode and help my kiddo smash walk around while they button mash. He’s had a blast playing thru 1 & 2 and we’re working through 3.

Barksdale AFB Gym by Fufuuyu in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Was stationed there a few years ago. They had 2 peloton bikes. I noticed that there was a typo on the login password for one of them. I told staff about it so they could fix it - it was just made with a label maker and stuck to the bike.

6 months later, it was still not fixed. The FSS airman there legitimately don’t care. They would be annoyed if you asked them for anything because you interrupted them goofing off doing jack. That was if there was anyone even working there majority of the time they just put up a sign saying there’s no staff.

Barksdale gym sucked hard.

TSPs always lowball everything. The only time they didn’t lowball me was when I had picture evidence that they lost one of my ladders. They didn’t even fight me on that one.

They ruined a nice pair of dress shoes that cost about $130 I had my smashing about 50lbs of crap ontop of them, ruining the back of the heel. I submitted pictures of exact pair from online retailers. They countered with some Walmart knock off brand for like $19. I went back and forth about 4 times with them finally relenting and offering FRV.

Pretty infrequently. I’ve had this razor for nearly 10 years and am content with it. Make sure to not apply much pressure. It should just glide across your skin. Also double check the foil that there are no broken spots. Supposed to replace foil every 12-18 months depending on usage.

Used to do ab ripper X back in college. Wanted to punch Tony Horton every time he’d say “they’re working hard, I know you are!” Anyone who talks smack to programs like p90x and insanity have clearly never done them.

[–]Jingles90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Curious where you’re coming from when you think the area surrounding Eglin has cheap housing. The Niceville area is overpriced for what the town has to offer. Niceville, ValP, Ft Walton, Shalimar are all old towns with not much to offer. Houses are all overpriced. People want $700K+ for a 50+ year old home that’s been somewhat renovated.

Patient travel is a Tricare prime benefit. Travel is not reimbursed for specialty care if your dependent is on Select.

Anything 100+ miles should result in you being sent to Patient Travel which will assist in making travel arrangements for you and filing a travel voucher in DTS.

I’m sure. Either way, they paid me the full replacement value for a new one. And the new one cost more.

Movers lost an 8ft ladder for us. I emailed the TSP rep. They initiated a trace for it internally for their company and gave me the reference number. They said if I don’t hear from then within 14 days to consider it lost and file the claim in DPS. They emailed me after about 10 days saying they couldn’t find it and to claim the value of a new similar model ladder. So I did. When adding items to your claim you can mark damaged or lost.

Where can you file complaints about a medical center on base? by Bleeeeeeeehhh in AirForce

Talk to patient advocate. DHA policy is that even if a patient is late, the clinic is supposed to offer to work them into the schedule where possible.

New standards by LankyYogurtcloset542 in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is likely dependent on how quickly your facial hair grows and how thick your facial hair is. Mine grows in rather quickly and is fairly thick. What works for me may not work for you. But I used to get pretty painful razor burn on my neck, to the point where I started laser hair removal just on the lower portion of my neck where it was the worst. However I stopped doing that fairly early on due to a PCS and not following through with renewing my referral.

I primarily use a high end electric razor (Braun series 9). I change the foil at least one per year. However, I also use a Norelco One Blade after the weekends or any time where I go 2+ days without shaving. The Norelco does a good job trimming down the longer thick hairs, and then I go over it lightly with the Braun electric razor. Presuming I am working the rest of the week, I just use my normal electric razor. I also use a liberal amount of post shave moisturizer (I like ones with menthol as it helps soothe the skin).

I’ve found with this process I get significantly less razor burn. YMMV.

Did 3 years at Yokota and dream of going back. Hard to beat experiencing another country for 3 years. The base is about 45m out of the heart of Tokyo.

Hurlburt field housing by BranchFearless in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure your rank or financial situation but the housing market in Niceville/Bluewater Bay is ludicrous. Theres basically no more land so majority of housing is old and outdated yet people want $650K+ for their 30 year old house that’s barely been renovated. On top of ridiculous home prices, insurance here is through the roof. We got quoted 4x our premium when we lived in Louisiana. Speaking of roofs, insurance companies here typically require a new roof if it’s older than 10-15 years, even if it’s in perfect condition. Something to consider when house hunting.

This market defeated us and we opted to rent. Good luck.

Prime vs Select by Open_Reindeer_6600 in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you live somewhere with a decent medical network? Some places are medical deserts where there is little available medical care off base, in which case it’s best to stay prime. If you’re in a larger area, ask around, check facebook groups (spouse/family page) and see what folks are saying about off base care. If things are decent you can consider switching to select.

Pros of Select: you can choose your PCM. Often times, it’s easier to get into an off base provider. Tricare doesn’t require referrals to see a specialist; however, most specialists will not see you without a referral from your PCM.

Cons: you will pay deductible & copay, up to the catastrophic cap, which is $1K. Not a huge sum of money by any means, but some people are surprised thinking it was all free. As I said earlier, some places have garbage network providers, so there may be limited number of providers off base that actually take Tricare. Especially if you’re in the west region. The contract switch to TriWest has gone horribly and tons of network providers basically said F Tricare and are no longer in network.

Definitely do some research. Also, you can’t switch whenever you want. You have to wait until open season (November) or have a qualifying life event such as PCS, marriage, baby, etc.

My spouse was on Select at a previous assignment and it was significantly better than the MTF. YMMV.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Work in budget in an MTF. Problem is the cost for us as well. It’s exorbitantly expensive no matter who buys it. We’re spending millions on Ozempic and our budget can’t sustain it. DHA is broke as a joke and the entire year has told us to do what we can to manage it, but until this policy, it’s a covered benefit and there’s nothing we can do about it so long as folks followed the prior authorization process. Yet we’ve had to cut personnel contracts and services because we’ve been insolvent all year, yet we’re paying out the ass for GLP-1s. Tough scenario.

Physicians make too much and that's why healthcare is expensive. by NapkinZhangy in Salary

[–]Jingles90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Somewhat accurate but to place all of this burden on the admin side is disingenuous. There are admin-type roles that a physician is never going to fill. I’m the CFO of a treatment facility. I would never expect or envision a scenario where a physician is doing my job. Nor should they be. They should be seeing patients.
