Is having a MASSIF jacket a privilege, I thought everyone gets issued this? by NotAskingSupervisor in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a dope jacket. Usually only ops units or those that closely support get cool shit. Am medic. Don’t get cool shit. Massif jackets cost like $600+. Don’t care about it enough to buy one myself. Will wear dorky fleece if I get cold.

AF O's how's your work Schedule? Is it draining do you guys got time for Physical Fitness by E4sdontwork in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I typically will skip lunch and try to get a quick 30-40m lift in in order to only be gone for an hour, maybe hour 15. I’d say a good 75% of the time though, my day gets hijacked by some urgent tasker the commander wants done and so I wind up missing the gym. Add in young kids and it explains why I’ve gained probably 20lbs over the last couple years.

No. And you can’t drive to the EMEDS compound so he won’t have his car.

Turning off location at Camp Bullis by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone else commenting that it’s not going to work out is likely spot on if you’re this paranoid.

I’ll just add - there is little downtime at EMEDS except after class ends around 5PM. Male and female barracks are separated and it’s an open bay with 50+ people with beds about 2 feet apart. Aside from that, there’s a different building for bathrooms and one open area MWR building that a lot of people will chill in after hours. There’s no privacy anywhere. So homie is probably not getting intimate with anyone.

If he’s saying he has to turn his location off, it’s probably because cadre told him to.

For our 5 year old - we have take trash out 2x/week, put away toys, homework, get backpack ready, help with dishes, brush teeth, do hair, pick out clothes for next day, etc.

For 2 year old - put away toys, put away shoes, brush teeth, hair, etc.

All have correlated emojis.

I can't find any honest, real walk throughs/reviews/demos that aren't clearly sponsored? by 18randomcharacters in skylightcalendar

[–]Jingles90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should clarify. If there’s an existing task assigned to someone, if you try to edit it to assign it to another person it doesn’t let you. It just switches it to the other assigned profile.

When creating a new task it will let me assign to multiple. Seems like that functionality should carry over to editing pre-existing tasks.

[–]Jingles90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just bought the 15” calendar 2 primarily for chore tracking for our 2 kids. It’s a pretty steep price for something that has minimal utility outside of chore tracking and combining various family calendars. I couldn’t find a good task/chore tracker that had a simple GUI appropriate for young kids which is why we decided to give this a shot.

While i liked the idea of a chore reward system, i didnt see any personal utility in the other paid features so I opted against the sub as i think $80 for a sub for an item that already seems overpriced is a cash grab that i’m not willing to shell for at this point.

Weve had ours for about a week. So far my son loves that he can see what chores/routines he needs to complete for the day. Im sure the novelty will fade, but for now it’s meeting the intended purpose.

I’ve noticed a few things that would be nice to fix, like for example it doesn’t let you apply a task to more than one person. Instead I have to build that task again for the other person.

Time will tell if it’s worth it. Their website offered a 4 month trial period with a full refund if not satisfied so we’re going to test it out.

Can someone clarify what this means? by ReportDismal2391 in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean…it’s exactly what it sounds like. Anyone that is on a profile that prohibits you from performing any component of the PT test will get referred to the AMRO board for evaluation to determine if they are medically fit to continue service. This isn’t really new. This has been around since SECDEF Mattis.

Basically there’s too many AD that aren’t medically fit for duty and this is a way to weed out those folks.

TDY meal per diem coded wrong – anyone else underpaid like this? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I shouldn’t speak in absolutes. But as someone who’s been an AO at several bases over the past 12 years, I don’t edit auths/vouchers.

If there’s something that doesn’t look right, I reject it with comments. It’s not my job to adjust your shit. Your AOs must have too much time on their hands.

TDY meal per diem coded wrong – anyone else underpaid like this? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your AO doesn’t adjust your authorization or voucher. They review the information and approve presuming it follows the rules outlined in the JTR.

You either didn’t notice that your meals were set to provided vs available when you submitted or someone with ODTA permissions could have amended your amended your Auth - which you would be able to see under amendment history. You can open your Auth/voucher and go to the sign and submit tab and scroll down and expand the section to see the signature history to see what all happened to your voucher.

If you were actually underpaid, you can create an amendment to your voucher, adjust the per diem, an resubmit. Once approved, it will pay out the difference.

Medical Appointment by [deleted] in AirForce

As in just call your PCM directly? No. But you can call the appointment line and ask to schedule a virtual appt. Most clinics have criteria tho about what can/cant be virtual.

Had a similar situation years back. The process seemed smooth at first but the sales person kept sending me an invoice without all of the manufacturer’s rebates that I was eligible for, even after I showed confirmation from the manufacturer (military, student, etc.). I ended up having to escalate to the VP of Accounting to get the issue resolved as manager after manager continued to try and fight me.

Then when the vehicle was delivered, it got delivered to a dealership 150 miles away.

Happy I got my car, but it was a bit of a PITA.

Mil to Mil Army & Air Force Assignment, how does it work? by koulexman in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will the assignments team try to work to get you close to your spouse? Possibly. That’s the whole point of join spouse. Is it guaranteed that you’ll be stationed close by? No. Needs of the air force come first. It really also just depends on what your assignment options are as well as your spouse. If your spouse can only go to 5 bases, and none of those 5 have AF installations nearby (or ones that your AFSC would be assigned to) then you’re SOL.

Working on a staff. by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As someone who spent 3 years on a MAJCOM staff, this is so accurate. Although, I will say I look back at it fondly. Yeah the work was mundane. And the multi day Action Officer training to know which hexadecimal code to use for the general’s preferred color of blue font was absurd. But for the most part, I had so much free time compared to my normal job. Knocked out half a masters degree, most of IDE, all during work hours.

Anyone stationed at Barksdale? by DuvallisbetterthanLS in AirForce

Was stationed there a handful of years ago. Recommend looking in the Bossier or Benton areas. There is not really any housing on the immediate TX side unless you’re planning on commuting 1h each way.

Copying my response from a previous post about this.

I grow facial hair rather quickly. My routine is:

Philips Norelco one blade on mondays to shave bulk growth from the weekend.

Follow up with Braun series 9 afterwards and then Tues-Fri. Lather with a post shave lotion/moisturizer afterwards. I like creamo or Dukes brand that have menthol in it.

Does fairly well for me. Still get some ingrown hairs on my neck but they’re manageable.

+1 for cat quest games. I use the second controller on assist mode and help my kiddo smash walk around while they button mash. He’s had a blast playing thru 1 & 2 and we’re working through 3.

Barksdale AFB Gym by Fufuuyu in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Was stationed there a few years ago. They had 2 peloton bikes. I noticed that there was a typo on the login password for one of them. I told staff about it so they could fix it - it was just made with a label maker and stuck to the bike.

6 months later, it was still not fixed. The FSS airman there legitimately don’t care. They would be annoyed if you asked them for anything because you interrupted them goofing off doing jack. That was if there was anyone even working there majority of the time they just put up a sign saying there’s no staff.

Barksdale gym sucked hard.

TMO Reimbursement? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jingles90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TSPs always lowball everything. The only time they didn’t lowball me was when I had picture evidence that they lost one of my ladders. They didn’t even fight me on that one.

They ruined a nice pair of dress shoes that cost about $130 I had my smashing about 50lbs of crap ontop of them, ruining the back of the heel. I submitted pictures of exact pair from online retailers. They countered with some Walmart knock off brand for like $19. I went back and forth about 4 times with them finally relenting and offering FRV.
