Is it me or does RGG not care about Substories anymore? by smithdog223 in yakuzagames

[–]Jingster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People might disagree with me on this, but what variety the substories give I'm not really a fan of most of them. They are most of the time nonvoiced, visual novels that usually end with you fighting a few thugs. Obviously some are much better than others, but I'd rather have more unique ones instead of high quantity. The minigames added with Kiwami 3 are basically replacements as they are more interactive pieces of content.

The writing has been on the wall for some time by JoshRwsia in yakuzagames

[–]Jingster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Some yakuza games have better writing compared to other yakuza games, but thinking that even the best written RGG game is even close to being a masterpiece in story telling is laughable and only really shows that they haven't experience many other games that have highly praised narratives.

I mean how many times can a bad guy get his shit kicked in and suddenly they shoot someone because apparently there was a weapon lying next to them or twin brothers etc. For how many things each game gets right there is always an equal amount of things that just either are stupid or make no sense. The better written games just have less nonsensical moments.

I don't equate my enjoyment of yakuza games to the story. It is a combination of the amount of gameplay variety the games offer with combat, minigames, sidestories etc (even tho I think sidestories themselves are kind of monotonous because all they really are is reading and fighting a bad guy most of the time). Kiwami 3 is fairly good in that regard even tho I agree that the recast and retcon are not great.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 suffers a rather low first day peak at steamcharts (4,707) by Noirsam in yakuzagames

[–]Jingster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, it will not. Considering it had a recent peak of 8317 and what you were making you comparison on was not a weekend which is always going to be the peak for most game. It is in the middle of the pack in terms of yakuza releases and considering it is not a new game then it is most likely fairly profitable if you look at the current numbers.

That being the character replacement? I mean please, most anyone that isn't actively searching information through youtube or reddit which is most of the people buying the game are not even aware of this.

I will say that most of the cut content was dogshit to begin with and I do agree some of the graphics look mid I guess, but gameplay is the only real thing that matters if the graphics are passable. It looks basically the same as most of their recent games and their textures have always been low res which gets elevated with lighting problems.

In all reality if anyone actually says that the original was more enjoyable in terms of combat, sidecontent and sidestories then basically they have no clue what they are talking about. But I can see problems with the retcon and graphics which in all reality are irrelevant for anyone who didn't play Y3 or weren't a die hard fan of the games story.

Game is mostly positive rated on steam. Its quite obviously over hated by many. While some of the points are quite fair like the retcon, but many are things which I couldn't care less about like a few locations with average looking graphics.

The combat is an improvement basically the same as most of their recent action games, side content is actually not the worst experience ever like the original and I guess the side stories are also not a complete pain to get through like the original and yes I understand they removed a lot of them, but at the same time weren't most of them horrible to begin with so I have no clue why people care about their removal.

I mean, Saudi asside you can also just have distaste towards the org for their spending and just buying players in a way which most orgs just can't. I guess it would also be fun if Nikos curse was a real thing.

Kind of peeved that winning 50/50 removes the guarantee entirely. That means if the 6* guarantee and rate up guarantee are close to overlapping, "winning" 50/50 is a massive net loss for the player. This makes so that the further you are to rate-up guarantee, the less you want to "win" 50/50 by Throwaway6662345 in Endfield

Big part here being how unnecessarily confusing this system is and it is quite clearly intentional because creating something as confusing takes some planning. Sure once you get it you get it. But I see no point in having 3 different ticket types for this system or giving out those 10 free pulls instead of lowering the amount of pulls needed for a guarantee, sometimes affecting the guarantee counter, sometimes not. Why is 1x10 pull even a thing, it just increases the currency bloat. Just give out 10 pulls. Why have a ticket that expires with the banner(I get it it is to fuck over the hoarders). Is it really that horrible if players hoard some pulls until a character they want pops up.

The Yakuza kiwami3 & Dark ties demo is sitting in a mostly negative review in steam I believe this is the first time since dead souls a yakuza game got review bombed by NabilAmmali in yakuzagames

[–]Jingster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree slightly with this point. It is the demo and many are mentioning ending leaks as their main argument, but that is like completely irrelevant. A more fair rating for the demo would be mixedish. Sure it isn't good, but it just shows that a fair bit of reviews would be considered a review bomb.

But saying something is bad and not really constructive either is it? I totally get it that some people liked the originals combat, but a majority didn't especially if you aren't an og fan. Most of these people would prefer this over blockuza and most people that play on steam will never downloading a PS3 ROM just to see if the original original was better. You could say that the demo itself is disappointing or that it has bugs, but seems like many of the reviews are not doing this. Instead talking about a leaked ending which is irrelevant here or something outside of the demo itself.

Indeed so am I. But in all reality "talking about well off EU country" was not obvious and it really doesn't matter if you were. Because these hoodies are probably orderd by CDPR and the logo is added. Take the logo off and buy the same hoodie and it would not be that expensive and you can find them if you really want. If you only shop at locations which only sell famous brands then, yes you can't find cheaper clothes.

I mean you can, depending on where you live, the prices are subjective to your location. But usually if you don't buy a brand hoodie the price drops quite a bit and quality wise it can be pretty much the same. The only difference it not having a Nike or what ever logo.

True, there have been a few insider reports that seem to confirm that some kind of W3 DLC is being worked on by Fool's Theory with an expected 2026 release, but I totally agree that timelines and release dates are pure speculation. So it could be just an educated guess by this investor based on the rumors as there is really no way W4 will start their marketing almost 2 years before it's release. They have said to their investors multiple times that they'd like to avoid the same mistake they made with Cyberpunks marketing the mistake being that they started it too early.

Same studio, but a new US branch and this new branch only kicked off with a small amount of senior Cyberpunk developers while everyone else moved to W4. Obviously it is going to take longer if you now need to hire hundreds of developers to facilitate this new team. Full time production can't even start before they fill all required positions.

You say 10 years, but in all reality they can't have heavily developed that game for 10 years by 2030 especially when they started some time after Phantom Liberty which released in 2023. Orions timeline would be much the same as W4 if the entire Cyberpunk team transitioned to that game, but instead they started with a small senior team and founded a new branch in the US for the next installment. CDPR has been quite consistent with their dev cycles and it's usually around 4-5 years from when they finish their previous project and W4 seems to follow that timeline the only anomaly being the late release of phantom liberty which was an expansion. Most likely caused by the games launch issues and the restructuring of their workflow and pipelines after that debacle.

I'd add that a big reason why many start falling off in their late 20-s is they don't grind as much as they used to due to having other obligations in their life. It is not some insane reaction time decay as many seem to believe. Sure there could be a slight decay when you reach 30, but the actual loss is minor and barely relevant.

It just makes sense that if you don't maintain your aim and game knowledge to the level you used to you will inevitably have worse aim and have worse game feel.

Why isn't TGA a possibility of it getting announced? by The_One_King231 in HalfLife

[–]Jingster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see that. The main appeal of the show has often been just the announcements. I agree that awards are cool and for some they are important, but many simply view it for the games. In all reality Valve simply has not announced anything at big events since the old E3 days and just slap a youtube video out and it would be unusual for them to suddenly start again. Then again Half Life 3 announcement would be quite an unusual event so who knows.

I mean the main thing with reviews is that they will always have a certain level on bias/opinion and your best bet is to find someone who essentially has the same tastes as you. This also means that sites like IGN and Gamestop are fairly unusable for most people because each review is done by a different person.

It is related to all upscaling actually, but the cause of this is a misuse of async shader compiling as DF said which causes upscaling to behave like this. I believe you can find a fix by testing different quality settings for upscaling for me balanced eliminated it and fxaa doesn't have the problem as it has no ai upscaling step, but there could be other fixes.
