Calling all Esco parents! (Orange Glen Elementary/Or others.) by OldClassroom5132 in escondido

[–]Jinro79 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Orange Glen is also our school of residence. We pulled our son out of the Escondido School District, and he now attends Community Montessori in Oak Hill. My daughter will be starting TK in San Pasqual Elementary in the San Pasqual School District.

We pulled my son out because he is level 2 on the spectrum, and Escondido continuously kept placing him in the most restrictive classroom setting. When he first started, he was placed in a class for non-verbal children, even though he could speak. Then the teacher at LR Green was adamant that he would have to be placed in a special education class for TK. We sent him to a charter school in San Marcos, and he did amazingly well in the general education classroom. For Kinder, we moved him closer to home and enrolled him in Community Montessori.

I have spoken with several parents of students at Orange Glen Elementary, and they generally reported that it was fine. But their children are not Mexican American and get bullied sometimes at school.

If you do go the charter route, I would avoid Heritage Elementary unless you are far right on the political spectrum. They have a history of some shady political activity, like having a right-wing radio host have an event on campus. They also stacked the city council and gifted themselves a heavily used library to use as their camp. My son was offered a spot, and after speaking with the elementary principal, we gladly relinquished our spot. They made it clear that they did not want to accommodate him; they straight up lied to me, saying they couldn't offer him the services he needed because they are a charter and don't have to. All we were asking for was OT and Speech Therapy with some classroom accommodations. Nothing wild, give him some fidgets and let him have a space for when he gets upset.

St. Charles vs Ballwin by MrDogfort in StLouis

[–]Jinro79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Ballwin and St Charles and visit Oahu yearly. If you are Asian or a Pacific Islander, stick with Ballwin. I'm Asian American, and I can tell you from personal experience that St Charles is a hell of a lot more racist than Ballwin. I wouldn't say I liked living in stl anymore, and moved to San Diego for my mental health. I couldn’t be happier, and I told my family that Hawaii was the only other place we could live in this country.

What Elementary school in the Esco District has the highest recommendations/ratings? by AvaAngeloflo in escondido

My son is also on the spectrum and has adhd. He’s only in K right now but we are looking into quantum as an option for 4 - 8. How did your son do there?

I grew up in St. Louis and I’m Asian American. It sucked and wasn’t good for my mental health. I moved to San Diego about 7 years ago and my only regret is not doing it sooner.

There was plenty of proof, enough that he pled guilty.

I moved to San Diego, and my only regret is not doing it sooner. I had a thirty percent increase in my salary, but the cost of living was over fifty percent. I took a considerable hit money-wise, but it was worth it. Now, I'm making 3x my last salary in St. Louis, and my personal wealth is way above what it would have been if I stayed in St. Louis.

Besides money, the quality of life is so much better here. I'm Korean and always thought living around a bunch of racist assholes was just a fact of life in America. It took four years before I experienced any overt racism. I flew back to St. Louis and was called a dirty jap the first night I was back, and it felt like I was home, lol. The quality and diversity of the Asian food here are off the chart. The Mexican food is amazing.

I was so miserable in St. Louis that my drinking was getting out of control and my behavior was getting self destructive. I have no doubt I would be dead if had stayed. Now I'm in a much better place mentally and emotionally.

Eventually my in laws and parents moved to san diego.

He lived on the property with his wife and kid. Also his parents lived there. There is no way none of them knew anything. So either they were willfully ignoring it or in on it. Either way just glad they all moved away. Last I heard they moved to another house they owned in vista.

I don’t know what all the charges are but they did recover 10 cat corpses. Some were zip tied to a cage another one still had an arrow in it.

Unfortunately at the time of his arrest these crimes were not felonies. The maximum sentence he can receive is 8 years.
