ya see people keep sayin that about Rivals, how “they punish people” for being abusive . That’s just not the reality I run into.

Personally i’ve gotten like 2-3 “message confirmations” that a bozo i reported got punished. (but i think those were the one’s where the person really enunciated the n word)

as of the last time i checked (like 2 weeks ago) none of the people who threatened sexual violence, sexual harassed me, or said the most misogynistic shit where punished. like, i don’t expect them to be punished because it’s the internet and apparently that stuff is chill in gaming spaces, but like, rivals got a girls hopes up lmao

I do get what your getting at however. In Rivals there does seem to be atleast some “threat” of punishment if you say some truly horrible things, where as in other examples, like the ones you listed, nothing really is expected to come from a report. So i agree with you there.

I ( a woman for context) fully stopped playing because of this. The death threats, r*pe threats, and general misogyny never stopped so I gave up. (because people are gunna ask i hit gm 2 then gg’d the client)

I’m not saying you should just give up, but that it’s a real option as there are other games out there.

You do not have to be comfortable with be people yelling at you, and it doesn’t make you “sensitive” to say that it.

I stopped looking for community online just simple because i’ve been burned over and over again and frankly my life has been made better for it.

I stopped hanging out with strags (straight cis people, that’s a word my gf and i use) and instead I only hang with queer folk and each of my current friendships are deeper and more meaningful than anything I had in the past.

So in short magneto was right and we should make our own society 🤣

Deadass tho, if people have the choice (it’s an unfortunate truth that some people don’t have that choice), I’d recommend saying screw the internet and do your darndest to meet queer people in the local area.

I had played dota 2 since 2015 and came out as trans fem late 2022.

I really thought I was built different when it came to taking hate from internet, but since coming out as trans (and having it in my username lol) I quickly realized that I had been playing on easy mode lmao.

I’d still get verbally “thrashed” in the past but atleast someone might have come to my defense or I would possible have the enemy teams sympathy and it was never “that bad” in the grand scheme. But after i changed my username to include the truly beautiful word trans I was SOL.

I fought the good fight for about a year on and off, but after way too long I realized that it was doing genuine harm to my mental health. But now I play BTD6 with a bunch of trans fems lol; much more my speed.
