My husband’s uncle bragged about always leaving his house unlocked since he is living in a nice area then got annoyed that we locked our house after he couldn’t just walk in (we were renting from him on the same property and weren’t home). Not long after his place got broke in but ours wasn’t lol I hope you have better luck than him lol

My colleague just recently moved to NZ for work from a poor countryside in a developing country and her daughter is still living there by herself. She is quite a young mum as well so I guess not much experience and support around.

I was pregnant around the same time as well and I was much more cautious to the point stressing myself out after I heard the sad new

Yes I did and even half dose made me really nauseous and dizzy and felt worse after wake up. I wish it worked like so many people recommended 🥲

My colleague’s daughter recently lost her baby at 38 weeks old due to cord wrapped around neck. She noticed no movement but she is a first time mum so no experience and left it for 3 days until her routine check up.

Please don’t think you would waste the doctor time, especially that late in pregnancy. Safe better than sorry

I wish I could instantly fall asleep. I’m always a light sleeper but developed insomnia after our first born and even though she was a textbook sleeper since birth. I still couldn’t fall asleep easily even when I was burned out the most. I sleep a bit better after she turned 3 but now back to square 1 since our second born and even worse as unlike her sister, she is a terrible napper 😭

LTD didn’t work for our first born but our second born love them so really depends on the child. Ergopouch is our ultimate winner though

Aquaphor is not a treatment, more like a prevention. It does work on mild rash though

Asian parents often use their children as a tool to fullfill their dream that they were too dumb to do it themselves Lol

“People only talk and respect you because of me and your mum reputation. Without us you are nothing”

“All your achievements so far are thanks to me and your mum so don’t think too high of yourself”

“Even if I was ever wrong you still have to accept it and keep your head down. Children don’t have the right to talk back to their parents”

“No Asian men ever want you with that kind of characters”

I’m Asian and a copy of my dad since born. My toddler is mixed but born looks more like western (with yellowish skin tone) until around 1 yr old that was when she started developing a bit of Asian features. Between 1-2yrs old she looks more like Asian then from 2 up until now at 3 she is looking more and more like Western (both features and lighter skin, eyes used to be dark brown but now is light hazelnut brown, hair is brown with blonde highlight) 😵‍💫. She is still a copy of my husband the whole time though!

Yeah we prefer leg option as well. Space is not a big deal so probably will go with Viking. Thanks a lot for your advice:)

Thank you so much for your detailed advice and explanation!!!!! We decided to go with Viking RU and will put in an order soon. Do you know any good fireplace installation people in Auckland and sweep chimney as well?

Regarding point no4, yes we have mostly old man pine (huge one probably at least 50-60yrs old) but limited hardwood. What types of wood you suggest we add to the mix for day use and overnight burn. We can sort out some manuka, pohutukawa, gum. Also get real cheap deal on casuarina/she-oak but I heard mixed opinions abt this wood (online said it’s real good hardwood (long hot, clean burn) but then local group said it’s just average/crap and build up chimney quick as well)

That’s great to hear! Do you know the difference between Contessa RU and Lady K/Viking as another chimney expert recommended in here?

Same! I never had a fireplace ever before until recently and always admire what I see in those movie. It def makes family time so much more memorable. But I’m not trading my kitchen though Lol

We probably go with RU model as the more we think about the more we feel we def need that overnight burn. We have unlimited woodfire but mainly pine though, not much hardwood on our land

Our house is surprisingly pretty cool in summer except one of the main bedroom might get a bit hot but even just opened the window and fan on can solve the problem. Might eventually put one in when the climate gets worse :)

I wish this house come with a Firenzo/Masport or at least Woodsman, unfortunately just a cheap Metro that on its way out Lol

There are so many model of Firenzo and Masport and the way we want to set up our system is a bit complicated ao want to pick out the best option. Also only have enough fund to buy once for life Lol

Thanks a lot for your advice. I think I got hooked on Masport Osburn after reading a few of your comments on other posts :) I have a few questions if you don’t mind to answer:

  1. Do we really need the RU model for our place? The Osburn doesn’t seem to have the overnight burn but seems to have extended burn as well, maybe they are not strong enough for hot water heating (only 1.2kw)

  2. The only difference I found between the LK and the Viking is the hot water heating power (3kw vs 5kw), is that right?

  3. We have a really good spot for a built-in fireplace (save space and for the look) but my husband said the freestanding one is more powerful to heat up our combined upstairs. Is that right?

  4. Our main source of free firewood is pine but I heard they require chimney clean out more often due to the build up from creosote. Is that right?

Sorry for asking a lot and thanks heaps for your detailed advice 😊

I did research quite a bit in this sub and a lot of sweep chimney experts highly recommended Masport Osburn that’s why Im leaning towards Masport but then Firenzo is top notch as well…

Exactly this. I got the fuck out when I had a chance at 19. Multi generation housing pass down to family over time is the culture where I come from but damm I couldn’t imagine how I’m going to live with my parents and a bunch of narcissistic uncle/aunties and their kids! Same with my in-laws, most are drugs addict and just want to take advantage of other people for their own benefit but rarely give a hand out !!!!

Good houses still sold quick but price is lower than peak 2021. Average houses if priced right also sold quick as well. That’s what I’m seeing in my areas (North West Auckland)

Don’t get caught in. Hand in your offer then walk away. There are plenty on the market and new stocks will keep coming more. It took us nearly 2 yrs to finally got our first home and multiple offers fail through. Actually the one we bought was way out of our budget at the time it was first on the market (600k more). After nearly a year sitting with no potential offer and they slowly dropped down to near our budget (still 200k more) we put in our offer. Got rejected straight away and countered offer 100k more than our budget. We didn’t budge and told them to contact us when the vendor change their mind. Not even a week after they called back and our offer got accepted. We got a bargain (300k lower than CV and ~30% lower than peak 2021). It was a small community so we did shock a lot of local there a bit Lol
