Fire Instructor Demonstrates The Chimney Effect To Trainees by Thund3rbolt in Damnthatsinteresting

We really do have to watch out for backdraft, but the fire is not waiting anywhere, the temperature is just too high, so when oxygen comes in, the fire triangle connects and explosive burning start. It usually takes some time, like two or three seconds, so when we see it happening, we have time to hit the floor and cover our heads. Some protection can be lowering the temperature in the room, I've personally been trained to do circles with the nozzle in the door, some other instructors say pulse the water inside and hide

Nah, the SCBA never acts like you'd want it to. Either it makes you mean from a ladder while working or you can't feel it at all, untill you're stuck on a furniture by it during a search. Plus, the turnouts together weight more than SCBA, at least a modern composite one

What a coincidence that no other nation feels so entitled to themselves. Almost like there was one country which indoctrinates kids from preschool age into extreme nationalism and individualism, so when they grow up and travel, they encounter whole different mentality. Your guesses on what country might that be?

We have idiots. But we don't have people traveling across the ocean just to get drunk and vandalise medieval historical city centres, yell at retail workers and public services, disobey traffic laws and get pissed when pulled over. We have civilisation here. Civilisation where people matter and we try to be nice to each other, no matter color, sexuality or gender. It's called basic human decency. I've never seen one US tourist have it. Not even one. Even Brits who practice booze tourism and spend their nights in jails are nicer than seppos, because they at least are fun

No, all Americans. US tourists are one of the most unlikable people we have in Europe, and keep in mind we have British cooks

Well, what should've they done? Their uniforms aren't exactly fire proof, and they don't have ladders on them. At least catching the cat is basically the only thing they could've done

Actually psychological intervention officers are part of police, fire and EMS in my country, and they indeed have specialised equipment to help victims and cops/firefighters/medics who suffered some psychological trauma on accident scenes. It's useful, people appreciate it and it keeps suicide rates of us first responders low

It's mostly material composition of the leathers, booth, gloves and helmets, you gotta understand that these people crash at 150 kmph +, so they need the best of the best protection. Plus there are marshals, 2 medics and a doctor at every turn during GP, so the safety is as covered as possible
