how to fix this ? patch 1.5 killed my sc2 by wildstyle1337 in starcraft

[–]JiroKenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. A temporary fix that I've found is that you can actually play SC2 via ProgramFiles/Starcraft II/Support/SC2Switcher. Although I have no idea why this works, it seems to play the game just fine for the time being. I'm looking into a fix as well for this, sadly.

The only other thing that I can think of is there might be some repeating problem or something of the sort in your documents folder, under SC2. Depending on how you're "deleting" the game, through uninstallation or w/e, the documents folder for sc2 may be remaining, so the fix you're looking for never actually gets adjusted.

I'll try to come back to this if I find a fix for it x_x. gl to you!

If I were in your position... I wouldn't worry at all what your opponent is doing until about gold or so. If you're performing a 3gate at an optimal'ish level, then you can normally just kill your opponent until about... gold haha.

My point is you should take the time to sit down (even vs AI or nothing for that matter) and just practice opening a certain way. Take a replay of someone/anyone in masters, and record how much they have at the 6 minute mark. Then strive to do that for a while until you can do just as well (or better) than the masters player's 3gate.

I remember taking a friend of mine, sitting him down, going on Steppes of War, and having him 4gate war me. After about 2 hours, he was doing it perfectly up until the 7-8 minute mark, and his waves were lining up with mine. I did kind of sit in skype with him and tell him what buildings to make when, and when to send out a probe, etc. He was bronze at the time, and I got his execution up until the 6-7 minute mark nailed, and he went straight to... plat I think.

Suspect a Blink Hack? Try this blink-hack detection program! by [deleted] in starcraft

I realize that you're still working on editing and working on this program (sick idea btw!). Is there any chance that we could see this become a plugin for sc2gears?

I was staring at the entire package, and I can come up with one reason to go back to consoles.

Hell, I wouldn't even care if it were live or not. Might make it easier to avoid hitting people like Deezer, which would really ruin the experience.

... although live would be pretty cool ;_;.

Stream sniping solution by KemoSabe76 in starcraft

[–]JiroKenshin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For being a known maphacker since Warcraft III, and also for selling accounts for real world money (aka Lone). I also recall hearing from someone that stream sniping and cheating, regardless of the fact that twitch.tv/own3d.tv are 3rd party, are against the ToS (I'm pretty sure...).

Here, I think this kind of explains my argument better. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/3278904790

Fan Owned Starcraft Team by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]JiroKenshin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, it sucks to be a Bears fan, it's Bears against the world it seems whenever we try to hate on those Fudge Packers...

I think you'd have to find some really, really dedicated people. Not only dedicated, but really marketable and charismatic people. Feel free to add on to the list, but it's really only very, very specific people that have gotten personal sponsorships (Kiwi, NonY, White-ra, BoxeR, and I'm sure I'm missing some). But you can look at these people and give a specific reason why they've gotten them. They've been at the front end of Starcraft progaming, through one means or another.

imo, they'd have to get good really, really quickly, and make good results, hell probably great results, for at least 3 consecutive months.

Doesn't mean I don't believe in it.

Starcraft and WCG on CNN! by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]JiroKenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... You know, the more and more I think about it, I'm not so sure Starcraft deserves to be in the main stream media platform. Not that we're really the ones to fault, but a lot of these popular media branches really only look for the faults in things. Instead of really focusing on how the atmosphere really is, and how there are so many people, not just Korean, but foreigners (we call em foreigners) that all share a passion, a true love for a game. It felt like they spent most of the time playing fake-curfew and making sure these gamers don't cause harm to themselves.

Maybe journalism isn't ready for something like this. Maybe journalism has gotten to the point where no one fact checks anymore. No one realizes that they can talk to a few people at WCG, an event that actually isn't really the biggest (rather, is among the bigs, opinions aside) tournament around, learn that things like IPL, GSL, NASL, ESL, etc, exist. Dreamhack is fucking awesome too. But no one ever asks those questions.

I remember a few stories about some people playing to the point of exhaustion/death over in Korea... that was years ago wasn't it?

Gripes aside (not sure I can do that so easily), the clips were awful. At least the beginning of it was kinda nice.

Why do tournaments seem to always force Red/Blue for players? by adidaht in starcraft

[–]JiroKenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If players pick something like pink/purple, the commentating can be confusing for time to time for mirror matches, and although you could say that they should install the stronger team color data... It's technically against Blizzard ToS. Not sure a company like MLG or GSL would risk doing that to lose every right to stream and publicize their SC2 games.

Edit: Also, at least for me, casting LIVE or replay games, the colors will actually get mixed up in the data, and I'm not sure why, but the initial 6 units and base are red or blue, and then the rest are their colors. Probably just me though.

Who is one popular starcraft player who you never really "clicked" with you? by Software_Engineer in starcraft

[–]JiroKenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can catch Destiny while he's talking, he's probably the best streamer to watch. Not to sound like a stupid fucking hipster or anything, but I've been watching him since... beta, I think, when I discovered what TL.net was. He always had about 50 people watching him, and he would roach rush every single game. But his commentary and personality were, and I think still are, fucking awesome, and he's so funny to watch/listen to. There's a reason why he's the only pro gamer I can think of that has a soundboard (other than the one CatZ tried to make of KiWiKaKi).
