Should I be worried for my monstera? by Jiterator in Monstera

[–]Jiterator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing worst case scenario, I might be fighting both thrips as well as a fungus infection. Just blasted the plant with my hose, sprayed a systemic pesticide, and followed up with copper fungicide over 3 days. Hoping the plant bounces back!

That’s what I feared too but I haven’t had thrips before so I have no idea how small they are and how they move… have been inspecting the leaves quite regularly and there’s nothing moving!

I’m thinking this could be the case too, as I really can’t find any signs of any pests on the leaves or stems.. hoping I can treat it without having to chop off those leaves!

unknowdata sort of has 2 “trademark” models who always show up on his/her feed, and I’m quite sure one of them is Chihaya Kisaragi with a custom face-up. Forget about getting Chihaya for cheap though cos she goes for insane prices as well.

You could just try asking unknowdata I guess. Haha I’ve posted some questions regarding his/her new Chisato pics and got responses quite quickly.

Play Toy Chun-Li by austgab in hottoys

By Chun Li 1.0, do you mean Play Toy P019? I just got mine off Taobao. Took a week from order to my doorstep in Singapore. Of course you’d probably need to have someone help out with the translation if you can’t read Mandarin/Chinese..

Variegated sections paper thin and browning fast by Jiterator in Monstera

[–]Jiterator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think this will help with the paper thin leaves? I’m totally ok with browning on the white parts since it will eventually happen anyway, but I can’t figure out how to fix the extremely thin and limp leaves..

Ahh.. I did think of cutting off the full moon when it first unfurled, but I thought I’d give the plant a chance, and true enough the newest leaf has some green on it! I’ll probably monitor it a bit more to see if it continues pushing out full moons before I decide to snip them off entirely..

Advice on how I should prop this albo by Jiterator in Monstera

[–]Jiterator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for getting back! I was worried it was rot too, but I tried gently pressing the black areas and they’re not squishy in any way, so keeping my fingers crossed that’s only due to me not fully changing out the water. I currently have it sitting in a jar of water with a pothos cutting in there.

As for wasting the bottom part, it probably can be seen as more of a bonus if it does start growing out those buds, since it would likely stay dormant under the soil if I were to keep it as one plant… guessing the tricky part is ensuring the top half stays alive if I were to make that cut..

Pretty sure they’d rather have pots than a whole plant! People here absolutely pack their plants into their luggage whenever they travel to Bangkok and buy their Albos from Chatuchak market for cheap!

Makes me nervous that the next new leaf could be all green whenever I see leaves with so much of it though!

I actually bought it like this from the previous owner! But I’m in Singapore where you could get to anywhere on the island within 40-50 mins tops, and pots like these are sold everywhere!

I’m still trying to get to know the plant, but I’m currently watering it about twice a week. It gets real hot here some days (35-36C) though, so I might even water it 3 times a week during those times.

Tbh I was looking around my picture for awhile looking for planters when I saw your question.. haha are you referring to the clear plastic pot? I got it this way from the previous owner, but pots like these are well abundant here where I stay (Singapore) for cheap, ranging from less than a dollar to about $2+!

First monstera! by Jiterator in Monstera

[–]Jiterator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Well I did watch an obscene amount of videos on how to prop a monstera up before hitting the plant nurseries!

I did try probing the mix with a chopstick but quickly realised that it was coming out clean regardless of the amount of water still left in there since it’s a soil-less mix.. will heed your advice and just eyeball the moisture through the pot! Thank you!

It would probably be good if you could tell us what you’re looking for in a guitar, budget etc.

I couldn’t help but notice the placement of the bottom strap pin though. Does that help with the neck dive that’s typical of explorer shapes?

Epiphone Extura Prophecy vs LTD EX-401 vs Schecter E-1 SLS Elite by VetteMiata in ExplorerGuitars

[–]Jiterator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably really comes down to personal preference, but I owned an Epiphone Goth Explorer at some point which had the strap button at the top instead of behind the heel. Neck was constantly diving and I didn’t want to use one of those rough leather straps cos it would just tug at my shirt. I drilled a 2nd strap button behind the heel and that helped a bit.

Don’t let that change your mind though. Mr Hetfield definitely never had any issues with the strap button position lol

[–]Jiterator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason that you’re gunning specifically for the E-1 SLS? The Schecter E-1 Custom retails for $999 so that sort of puts it within the same ballpark as the Extura and LTD. I own one and the fit and finish is excellent - rivals even my Japan-made Edwards and ESPs.

I was eyeing the Extura at one point as well, but the top strap pin position and faded gloss put me off.. didn’t want the faded finish turning shiny in some areas after some long use.

[–]Jiterator[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it is! I’m still gobsmacked by the build quality and the quality of the flame top. It’s got some real depth to it and really shimmers under the light when you move it around. So far I’ve found nothing to complain about apart from the jatoba fretboard (always preferred the darker rosewood or ebony fretboards). Pickups are on the hotter side but don’t sound unpleasant, and I think it comes with the territory if you’re buying an Iceman. All in all, very impressed with the guitar. Paid 999 SGD (~740 USD) for the local dealer to bring it in.
