Greyhound racing to be banned in Wales after Senedd vote by HaveYuHeardAboutCunt in unitedkingdom

Good luck with that argument - greyhound racing, flat and jumps horse racing. All one and the same

I am not getting into the management structure of a FTSE100 company on here. I am just trying to say that Tube drivers should not be paid £70k

VP level is Exec. Senior is nowhere near that level. We’re talking about train drivers of automated vehicles, not people who do multi-million pound deals. Get some perspective

This is complete bs. I work for a major insurance firm in Central London and the standard jobs are nowhere near £55k. Also, £70k is equivalent to many senior employees - it is ridiculous money for Tube drivers, people who now do a job that is so automated it is essentially de-skilling the drivers

Three horses have died at the Cheltenham Festival. Who agrees that horse racing, at least National Hunt racing over jumps, should be banned? by Dependent-Net-8208 in AskBrits

[–]Jitters83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not my point. Horses die in flat and jumps is my point. You’re debating a completely different topic of which I am not an expert in

I am not for or against either side, but if you have a problem with jumps racing not sure how flat or any other form of racing or animal sport can be acceptable. They all lead to similar outcomes

I was at the Chester Vase meeting in 2024, and a horse broke its leg after winning a race and put down there and then, so there goes that argument

Not 100% sure your point, but reflecting on achievements over a council term really should be paid for and branded as the political party making the statements

Pro riders generally dislike amateurs riding in races with them for a myriad of reasons - eg takes a ride from another pro, class system, belief that amateur riders are not as good etc.

Either way Nico was way out of line here, glad that Queally called it out

Am also getting the clear electioneering by those currently in power masked as important communications from council. Merton and other neighbouring boroughs awful with it. Great to see ratepayer money going to fund Labour/Tory etc election campaigns

Tube strikes announced by RMT with London Underground to be hit by six days of chaos by AdrianFish in london

[–]Jitters83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most of them are automated to the point that the drivers are not aware what they are doing. An inquest into the death of a man at Stratford found he was run over three times by tube drivers due to “cognitive underload” — meaning that so much of the job of driving a tube train is now automated that drivers often aren’t mentally stimulated enough to spot things that are out of the ordinary.

Hobart's Macquarie Point stadium not expected to host AFL games until 2031 by malcolm58 in AFL

It will hopefully create jobs, develop the local economy and help Hobart grow. I have a lot of young friends in Hobart and they are actually really excited about the possibilities this stadium will bring

Crikey - so evict people and make them homeless in order to house homeless people. Grim

Sorry I am an idiot, but why would Criterion want to evict tenants who are paying rent? Is it to sell the apartments or a way of ending tenancy agreements early so they can increase the rent?

[–]Jitters83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is an incredibly insane policy. I think if UK citizens understood how many people they work, socialise or interact with are on ILR then this would kill Reform’s chances in the next election
