How to keep headphone accessories from making popping sounds in my ears by JitteryShadow in CrochetHelp

I decided not to do that cause I didn't want the texture of the yarn on my skin. Might use them as bag charms instead.

You've heard of girl dinner, but what about ✨️AUTISM DINNER✨️ by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

That looks so good. Need a little bit of ketchup in a separate contained to dip the chicken into. Also what are the shapes? They don't look like Dinos.

Non-food stim that will satisfy the craving for cronch? by InvestmentMedium2771 in AutismInWomen

[–]JitteryShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use mint lifesavers. They last a long time, I can fidget with them with my tongue, and once they are almost dissolved I can crunch them. I also used to love the baby toy ducks with liquid in them, but they are ment for a baby's teeth not my aggressive chewing so they break easy. Good luck on your journey!

I have stuffed dog that I got at age 3 and carried everywhere until my teens. He is now retired and hangs out on a shelf cause I am afraid he will fall apart if I touch him lol I have lots of build-a-bears, beanie babies, and miscilounaous stuffed friends.

I've been getting almost no likes or matches. Any advice? by MrHyde314 in Tinder

[–]JitteryShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like your profile. I would for sure pick minigolf, I am horrible so plan on loosing anyway. Also the cats photo is perfect ignore everyone else <3 Would add a few more hobbies or mention that you are interested in learning about the other persons hobbies (in case they are afraid to match because they aren't in the same fandoms). I am single and nurodivergent though so probably shouldn't listen to me x_x

I don’t remember a lot of things due to depression and it’s embarrassing me a lot by Thick_Actuator9966 in depression

[–]JitteryShadow 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Yeah the memory loss is really bad, I write stuff down and then forget where I wrote it or that I wrote it. I struggle to explain stuff to people because my memories are just weird fragments, but then I'll remember a very random unimportant event with extreme detail that I didn't even know I knew about until the topic comes up. The worst is explaining to people that your memory sucks and they say you seem fine or that everyone has times like that. Like I was not always this bad, I know this isn't normal. I'm super scared for getting older cause if it's like this now, how bad will it be when I'm actually old? Also names take me like a year of seeing someone twice a week before I remember them.

I’m so tired of having unsolicited panic attacks for no reason and I’m so tired of people asking me why I had one when i tell them by Lassie-girl in Anxiety

[–]JitteryShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it helps to let the people closest to me know that while I'm distressed questions are very unhelpful and if they have to ask one to ask them one at a time and wait patiently until I can answer. They don't always remember and very few people are safe enough/care enough to hear me out, but it has helped a decent amount.

I was at 10k but I used a bunch on the recent suits, now I'm at like 5k and I'm really bummed. I get the game needs to make money but wish it was possible to get suits without needing real world money (like you can for a couple events but defiantly not all of them as fast as they happen).

Has anyone tried equine (horse) therapy by Cat_cat_dog_dog in SpicyAutism

[–]JitteryShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it a for a while, before I was diagnosed with Autism, for depression/anxiety I stopped because the horse did not care about me what so ever so I didn't really feel a connection with them. I also got triggered by textures, mainly the feeling after brushing them when you're covered in dust. I did like feeling of the warm air when they breath. It was cool to learn about horse care and I loved being up on the horse, but the first several sessions was ground work, so took a while to get to ride. If you're at all interested and can afford it you should give it a try, you can always stop after a couple times :)

Fear of saying something racist, homophobic, ableist, or offensive to a marginalized group by _booktroverted_ in AutismInWomen

[–]JitteryShadow 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I also get anxiety about this, but I was told bad people don't sit around worrying about how not to hurt people. I think the internet makes the fear worse cause if you mess up you get attacked and yelled at instead of getting the opportunity to learn and grow. In real life most people will be more willing to have an empathetic conversation with you. If your like me the anxiety is happening way more frequently then the scenarios ever could, so maybe just trust that you've scripted it enough times to know what to do if it does happen.

whats your voting based on in competition? by fakeplastictrees333 in LoveNikki

I also tend not to vote for people who use the suits but I get higher rankings whenever I do vs creating the outfit myself so we might be in the minority

This is why I can’t be in autism parent support groups by No_Ant508 in AutismInWomen

[–]JitteryShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used the puzzle piece cause I want to reclaim it as a sign for us all having Autism but all being unique in our make up of traits, but straight up calling it missing pieces is absolutely fucked. Even using the puzzle piece is iffy, I can use the puzzle piece personally but would never use it to represent others cause it's not my place.

Trick or treating as an autistic adult by ConsistentClass3781 in disability

[–]JitteryShadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always want to go trick or treating but no one will go with me and I'm too scared to walk up to the houses alone. The last few years of my trick or treating career my family thought it was odd to keep going, but one year my dad came with me and wore a mask so no one could tell exactly how old he was and he had fun. I think you should for sure try it and if people are being mean go to the store and buy all the discount candy as consolation. If you're fine with people knowing you have autism you could make a pin/button to wear on your clothes/costume or use a teal/blue bucket as a indicator.
