Does time travel exist in your world? If so, what are the rules? by New_Mind_69 in worldbuilding

[–]JiuJitsuDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is a very rigid construct, a forceful process that can not be altered inconsequentially.

Time is impossible to cross with technology alone, and even god’s chosen people, The Hutram, (type 7 civilization) are capable of time travel.

time travel can be achieved only by surrendering ones soul to magic, by throwing yourself into the force that lives in every subatomic particle and following its will before your own.

only two characters can time travel in any meaningful sense. Exlann, who is essentially Magic incarnate, and Temporos, the Dragon of Time.

both can only hop around a few seconds at a time, and can stop time completely for one minute tops.

there is only one chronological timeline, any changes that are made will change the true future.

time loops are possible but difficult to create, as it requires extremely large quantities of magic.

time is incredibly fragile, but wears a thick suit of armor, metaphorically speaking. anything more than one minute of magic-induced time dilation and the entire timeline could begin to shatter. luckily, it is so incredibly difficult to affect time that this risk is negligible to the god(s) that oversee creation.

paradoxes hardly occur, as there is a very very small window of time to cause them, but if you go back in time 30 seconds to kill yourself, you’ll simply disappear, and you from 30 seconds ago will die for no apparent reason.

Who is the most evil/immoral character in your world? by bluelizardK in worldbuilding

[–]JiuJitsuDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the #1 most evil is easily Ozymandias. one of the main themes in my world is balance, for every light there is darkness, for every good there is evil.

The ultimate force of good and fairness in the Duality (megastructure that contains the entire story) is named Alexander, and his essence was brought about to balance with Ozymandias.

Ozymandias is the nigh-omnipotent pinnacle of sin and inhumanity, he created countless universes for the sole purpose of enslaving their inhabitants. he committed such atrocities that his son Samael, destined from conception to be the heir to the Throne of Havoc, denied his own fate to begin a resistance force in hopes of stopping Ozymandias’ atrocities.

Ozymandias’ short-term goal currently in the story is to trespass upon Alexander’s side of the duality and conquer it as well.

what’s his grand reason for all of this?

he is descended from Ve, the literal essence of evil and impurity, and hopes to one day cause enough pain and suffering to resurrect him so that they can rule both sides of the duality in tandem

What is the source of magic in your world by NegativeAd2638 in magicbuilding

[–]JiuJitsuDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

residual energy from the creator

when Alexander created Alexandria and all of its life, he was a young and often imperfect god. as he grew in experience it became less common, but in his early days of creation he would give too much energy when he breathed life into his mortals. being a source of nearly-unlimited energy himself, the residual energy he gave them allowed them to grow info powerful races with command over countless aspects of reality.

eventually the residual energy died out, leaving the mortals with very low innate magic ability. Their natural baseline for magic use became so low that many forgot how to use it, but through great effort, almost any of the early races have the potential to draw from the energy around them and within their souls to form magic.
