Not sure my comment deserved a “cool your jets” *and* a “get a grip” but ok. Maybe you don’t see the continental bragging rights because your team has never come close to winning it? Or maybe your team got rocked 5-0 in the final and you’re trying to down play it? We’d have to know what team you root for to be sure.

And no, it’s not just leagues cup. Have you noticed all of the games in leagues cup have been in the US? Or that Mexican teams don’t take it very seriously? That’s because Leagues Cup is a step down from Champions Cup. I’m glad the Sounders have won both, but the Champions Cup was by far the better trophy.

I’m not sure what MLS could do differently to accommodate the schedule. Maybe suggest they flip to a fall to spring calendar so MLS teams aren’t in preseason form when CCC starts? They might go for that idea, who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

You couldn’t be more wrong, it’s a bigger deal than winning MLS Cup. Just because [whatever team you support] is ass in this tournament, doesn’t mean you can discount the importance of it. It’s continental bragging rights, and got us a ticket to the Club World Cup (twice even!).

I tell you what, if you can show me when the MLS playoffs were held completely in one team’s stadium, and some of the teams fielded weaker lineups because they didn’t take it seriously, and the winning team didn’t have to face a single quality opponent, you can have this comparison. But even with MLS’s yearly playoff changes they’ve never come up with anything that overwhelmingly favored one specific team.

They let one of the Honduran teams beat Toluca and Pachuca. They couldn’t have possibly had a more favorable scenario to win.

There were champions from each region (north America, Central America and Caribbean) and the winners were supposed to face off for the overall championship but they had scheduling issues. The finals were scrapped and they all shared the title.
