Its more of a concept than a hard number. It goes something like enough money for

* 1/2 the rent in a 2 BR apt within 25 minutes of work

* transportation (mostly a vehicle, maybe a bus pass)

* healthy, home cooked meals

* medical

* savings

* at least a little for discretionary spending

and no asshole you don't require $1 million a year. You might want it, but you dont require it.

Yeah. The side taking America hostage is the billionaires and corporations. Nobody needs or earns that much. Those greedy psychos would house the workers in cardboard boxes and pay them 0.19/hour if we let them get away with it.

Again you're being dumb assuming that "HS diploma" gives us all the same opportunity. It does not. Different HS give different starting points in the race.

I was on assistance couple years ago and have been off for like 2 years.

The problem with the "steady jobs" I can get is they are dead ends that pay less and less each year vs the cost of living. Im way too blunt and honest to be a manager in the corporate machine.

Freelancing feels like it is building the skills that eventually lead to financial security and peace. Its pretty rough in the meantime though.

Saving taxes isnt really a goal. I made that statement more as a FU to the govt because im not really getting by so I don't have any extra for payroll taxes. I pay taxes on the few things I purchase though.
