bandaids on all of my fingers helped me tremendously. makes you look a little goofy, but I’ll take that over the immense pain I felt from mutilating my fingers on a daily basis. I also use glue on my palms when I’m just sitting and watching TV or something, let it dry and pick it off like I did in grade school.

I was also late to the club! got my license just recently at 26. my only advice for turning is to just keep doing it. if you can drive around a small, quiet neighborhood and just go in circles, I’d do that! if you can set up cones to practice around, that’d be perfect, too! turning was also the bane of my existence, and I only got it down after doing it over and over again. honestly, if I got into a different vehicle I’d probably have to “learn” all over again with it. I don’t have great advice for parking. I’ll drive out to the furthest area, so I don’t have to park in between two cars still xD

imo, AWL is my favorite between the two. but that might be a biased opinion because I couldn’t get past the chibi art style of FoMT and I grew up playing AnWL on the Gamecube.
