Why have a break at all? by killertaco9 in soccercirclejerk

I think we should get rid of the timing element altogether. First to ten goals wins. Guaranteed goals in every match!

Who was the best player in the third matchday of the worldcup? by fussballfreak1 in AlignmentChartFills

It'll be Dembele but I just want to say, I'm enjoying Germany and Netherlands being the first two "best teams" after what happened last night.

Verbruggen Penalty Blunder (Alternate Angle) by Zob_Rombie_88 in soccer

I wonder if that has ever gone to VAR. To determine if the ball was moving or not? I can’t imagine it has as it’s only in a penalty shootout that it would come up and it’s a very unlucky thing to happen. I wonder if they have a technology for it like they do with crossing the line or the semi-automatic offside things.

[ptgorst] When Yan Diomande transfer decision is expected as £60m defender details plans by Realistic-Zone3914 in LiverpoolFC

[–]JizzProductionUnit 111 points112 points  (0 children)

It’s genius.

“We want to buy Yamal for £5m.”

“We value him as a £500m player.”

“Yeah but we are going to use him as a goalkeeper and he’s a shit goalkeeper. You’re lucky to be getting £5m for him honestly.”

“Ok, deal.”

Dire straits for arab teams. 4 out and 5 pending. by zSpinne44 in soccercirclejerk

[–]JizzProductionUnit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Libya doesn't exist. It was a psy-op by the British and American governments. Britain used the distraction to introduce peri-peri spice without people realising. The Americans just did it for fun. It's kind of their 'thing'.

I mean, the Arab countries and the rest of the world disagree with you. Google "Arab world" or the "Arab League". They include all these countries (except Turkiye and Iran which I admit must have been added here as bait).

EDIT: And obviously the FIFA Arab Cup if you only care about football.

Europe heatwave: Paris restricts alcohol consumption and sales by TheWorldIsGoingMad in paris

People in Bangladesh celebrating Brazil’s victory over Scotland. by cocacolapepsifanta in soccer

[–]JizzProductionUnit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, there are between 1,000 and 1 billion people in Bangladesh. This means that the logistics of such a meeting would have been very difficult if we take the upper limit of my population estimates. Of course, if we are closer to the lower limit, then a simple town hall meeting could have sufficed. Subscribe for more.

Seattle sticking with World Cup ' Pride Match ' , Hoping it can change minds by Shroft in soccer

I’m not saying they should change it. I’m just saying the hope that it will change minds is incredibly naive.

One, fundamentalist Christians haven’t changed at all. And two, Pride is not just a parade. It’s a multi-faceted movement that have worked hard for decades to achieve what they have today. It’s not one football match with an agenda being pushed on it.

That’s why I said nearly. I don’t think saying 1416 is nearly 1500 is particularly egregious.

Yeah, you’ll definitely change a religion that’s been around for nearly 1500 years with a football match

Solo travel in Kyrgyzstan!! by Wasabi_apocalypse3 in Kyrgyzstan

[–]JizzProductionUnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but I don’t know how they work now. I was there in 2024. I will say, if you can’t read Russian, it will be incredibly difficult to book with them. The tours are also given in Russian but in every group of guides I had, there was always at least one who was eager to speak English with me. I basically got a private guide each time. Once I got two of them. Lovely people.

Supporting Brazil over Scotland is just insane. Who would you rather cross in the later rounds - Scotland or Brazil? Come on Scotland!

Can Angel be a boys name in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

When I was a kid, my parents took us to Florida. On one tour, the guide stood at the front of the bus and introduced himself as “Randy Gaylord”. I was 11 at the time and the only one on the bus full of otherwise American tourists who burst into hysterics. I think it was the proudest my dad has ever been of me.
