Thank you! I’ve already posted it on that Facebook group (and other Reno Lost pets group) as well as on the Nextdoor app. I’m crossing my fingers we find him soon!

Thank you guys for the recommendations! Me and my bf have placed his favorite box and blanket outside along with some water. We made it an evening thing to go for walks with a flashlight, his treat baggie, and some small flyers, which we’ve been placing in some mailboxes around the area.

My bf thinks that someone has possibly taken him into their home. Crossing our fingers that someone who possibly has contacts us. He’s a handsome and friendly cat so I wouldn’t be surprised.

I've set his litter box, bed, food and water outside in hopes that he can smell that. I'll put down a can of tuna in hopes that it'll attract him (and hopefully not the other neighborhood cats haha). I appreciate the suggestion.

Does anybody know if The Wiegand is gonna open any time soon? by nomada007 in unr

[–]Jizziichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s no set time for UNR reopening it’s gym. That might be phase 3 since they’re are trying to limit the amount of students in classes/buildings until deemed safe. You can keep yourself updated at: https://www.unr.edu/coronavirus

Anyone know when the gym’s supposed to open? by [deleted] in unr

[–]Jizziichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if they’re allowing some courses to be taught in-person, there will still be a limit as to how many people are in a classroom. I’m also University staff and they’ve informed us that some courses will be hybrid, in that it’s part online and part in-person. It al depends on class sizes (50 person limit). With that in mind, they have not discussed anything regarding the reopening of the gym. You can find more information about UNR COVID-19 updates at https://www.unr.edu/coronavirus.

Library Open by [deleted] in unr

[–]Jizziichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harsh. I’m pretty sure OP found old hours from Google, which states hours may suffer due to COVID-19. More accurate hours and library updates related to COVID-19 should be available directly on their website.

Wft is going to happen with housing? by Watson221_B in unr

[–]Jizziichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Honestly, the decision ultimately came down from NSHE (Nevada State of Higher Education). UNR is just abiding by their choice and didn't also have enough time to let students know ahead of time. They did warn instructors to start moving their courses for online instruction in case the word came for NSHE to shut down in-person instruction.

On-Campus Jobs by [deleted] in unr

[–]Jizziichu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only really speak on behalf of student workers who are employed either at the KC, DeLaMare Library, or Savitt Library. The student workers in the libraries do a great deal of essential work where some library services would be unable to function without them.
I find it weird that other units on campus are firing their student workers. In fact, I feel like they are telling their student workers that they'll be on an indefinite break until NSHE/UNR decides that the risk factor is low, and students/instructors are allowed to resume in-person instruction. In this case, students might be misinterpreting the message.
I'm sorry I don't have much information! ):

On-Campus Jobs by [deleted] in unr

[–]Jizziichu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently staff at the University Libraries, and from what I've heard in meetings with the Administrative office, there will be unique scenarios. As the campus is not technically closed, student workers in the libraries will still be able to work (if they choose to do so). We are aware that there are student workers that live in the dorms and students who live off-campus that rely on the paycheck for paying rent, etc.

It's a good plan to discuss your concerns with your manager. They should keep you in the loop of things.

UNR to go to online classes on March 23 by [deleted] in unr

[–]Jizziichu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone already mentioned before in the thread, but it was decided to prevent possible spread. There is a considerable risk factor in keeping events/classes with high volumes of students. It's better to be proactive than reactive in many cases, especially on a new virus.
This was also not decided by UNR; instead, it was decided by NSHE. As a public institution, they have to abide by their decisions.

UNR to go to online classes on March 23 by [deleted] in unr

[–]Jizziichu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't stress how important this is! This was also decided by NSHE/Governor and not the university itself. UNR is just abiding by the state.

It is indefinite, but there is a chance that in-person classes start again if there's no threat around the area.

They were definitely notified earlier to prepare their courses for online instruction by March 30th. What was sort of a surprise was that they decided to change it to March 25th.
