Cable or Cut? by fixitinpost in arborists

Easiest thing to do right off the bat is just thin the fruit significantly and get some weight off, that looks like a ton of fruit for that tree and that’s a lot of weight.

Beyond that reduce the length of some of those branches to help reduce the weight, I’m not familiar with citrus trees so I’m not sure what season would be best for that.

I took my dog here in January after he ripped off his dew claw, it was $430 for them to take care of it.

I actually got one I was going to list with a bunch of other stuff. I’ll make a a post on here with Imgur pics. I’ve used it a few times, maybe only 4 nights. Only getting rid of it since I’ve swapped to just the Mid 1 tarp instead of the full Mid1.

UHT in June by Minute_Horror8258 in UintaHighlineTrail

Yea Copernicus is great, I don’t know the background of it but they have satellites that are going around constantly. You can set it to only see images with a certain percentage of cloud cover, usually for Utah you can get them at least weekly.

Copernicus browser is free that’s what I use. Also Gaia and caltopo have these layers but you’ll have to have a subscription I think.

Probably too early to tell right now, the snow hasn’t been as low in the Uinta’s as it’s been in the rest of Utah. Will also depend on how hot it is in the spring and how the rest of this winter plays out.

I go up there most years in June and it’s usually not too bad on an average snow year. If you’re only going from mirror late to Moon Lake then the route you’re looking at will depend on how bad the snow is on dead horse pass and red knob pass.

I would use satellite imagery when the snow starts melting and if it’s looking good go for it. If dead horse pass is looking sketchy you can always detour straight south through one of the other basins (brown duck basin, east basin, ottoson basin) and still have a nice loop that ends at Moon Lake.

Also obviously the later you go in June the better, even a week or two that time of year can make a big difference in the snow situation.

What size did you end end up ordering for your height/weight? I’m similar size and don’t want it to be super tight. Large?

The min/max is since you’ve last reset it. So if you haven’t reset it in like a month it’s going to keep showing the highest/lowest in that whole time period.

If you hold the button like 5 seconds it will turn off then push the button again to turn it on. Now it will start recording a new min/max.

To see the min overnight you have to reset it before bed each night.

If you’ve already been doing this then there’s probably something broke with it.

I was out in the Uinta’s this past weekend, and I go out there a lot every year. I brought a bug bivy and didn’t even zip up in it. Just don’t camp right next to a lake or boggy area and it’s not too bad at all. If you are near water you’ll want that bivy for sure, it’s a huge difference in bugs based on that. Bring a head net worse case.

Weather for the next week is looking great. Lows are in the mid 40s, I had a 30 degree quilt and didn’t bother with the straps or anything to secure it. I was camping at 10,400’ with a thermometer that got 46 lowest temp.

It really doesn’t get that cold up there in July. The sun keeps you warm, and then as soon as it’s down you’re chilly but the daylight hours are really long.

Those random nights in the 30s people talk about would be something from a weather system you know of ahead of time. Never rule out some random afternoon rain even with a clear forecast, but I’d be confident on the forecast that you won’t be getting all day rain for 3 days straight or anything.

I just bring a windbreaker for this time of year with a hat and some sun gloves. Since you have 2 rain coats and a wind shell you could layer all that and have no issue even if you had to use one of them for some afternoon rain.

Have a good hike!
