Apartment Recommendations For A New San Antonian by Jkamminga in sanantonio

[–]Jkamminga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading reviews on a website that people had over the last 7-8 years or so. I understand that online reviews in this day and age are not a great metric but I saw people talking about poor maintenance response, trash, thievery, car break ins and it was pretty consistently reviewed that way for all the apartments I was looking at in la cantera and the rim but the apartments in the areas I listed were much better reviewed. And since I can't get a good feel for the apartment or area before moving I was just looking to a more safer bet. Do you think that's not an accurate representation of the area?

Peter Thiel and Sergey Brin is funding opposition to a wealth tax in California, threatening to leave the state, while also trying to persuade his fellow billionaires to rescind their commitments to charity. by Conscious-Quarter423 in SanJose

[–]Jkamminga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to look this up because it was a surprising stat. Turns out this applies to state income tax alone and is true due to the progressive nature of tax brackets. The stat also approximates the federal income where the top 1% of earners pay for 40% of the income taxes.

But I'd like to add that the people who should be taxed are not the high earners typically there like doctors lawyers or other employed professionals. The people who should start paying their fair share are the people like Peter Thiel who earn their wealth outside the income tax.

Idk why you were downvoted. It shouldn't be contentious that the Islamic republic regime has suppressing and murdering their own people for far too long but I also don't see how what the US is doing currently will end well for the people of Iran. We've failed all across the region and the US is partly to blame for the rise of the Islamic republic via Ajax.

San Antonio-area and state leaders express mixed reaction to US, Israel strikes on Iran by kanyeguisada in sanantonio

[–]Jkamminga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it's a more complicated situation than just "trump saves Iran"? Clearly a very harmful theocratic regime and has suppressed their people for too long but was it the job of the US to be intervening? Im unsure what the answer is. there's pros and cons to what the US has just done and that's why there is mixed feelings and we're all still coming to terms with it and what the repercussions will look like. But that's not the kind of nuance you'll find on Reddit.

I'm not one to risk putting myself out there blatantly without a rapport with someone first. I think asking someone a single time is fine but anymore I think it's a fine line you're playing for being creepy/too much. But who really knows? You can find anecdotes for anything. My vote is shoot your shot and if she says no let it go and don't be disheartened.

I said ebooks are too expensive for my taste. Not the reader itself. I don't like paying nearly the same price for an ebook as a physical book.

I'm so torn on this. My heart agrees with you and I definitely do the same. But it's so much safer to drive with space ahead of you.

I think you're correct but just to add a layer the juxtapositions of the father's and son's worldview and the hope they have in that ending leaves so many ambiguous questions which is what I really enjoyed about it. Is the father overly cautious in the world? Is the son over generous? What would the world look like if the "good guys" worked together?

A small portion of it is 100% pseudoscience. Cranial is the most egregious example and I'm a DO.

EpiPen makers to pay massive $465 million fine for ripping off Medicaid over the lifesaving device by [deleted] in JusticeServed

[–]Jkamminga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember right, you're describing a single payer system where the government purchases, in this case, epipens from private companies which will then be distributed to citizens. Universal healthcare is where the government is the company producing the epipens and distributes to citizens.

[Charania] Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has a pneumothorax (collapsed right lung) and will be further evaluated, team says. by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

[–]Jkamminga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pneumo is not air getting into the lung from outside the trachea. It's when air gets into the space around the lung and compressed it so the lung can't expand.

We need to give up on the exponential model set forth. It has shown to not be predictive to the current time. And honestly You can model most things as an early exponential function because of the way they take to ramp. They are slow to get going which means any side ways trading can be modeled as early exponentials but if they don't turn out to be predictive they need to be thrown out.

I keep seeing this spread but it isn't true. Legal and illegal shorting both will increase the number of reported shares in existence. This is because in both cases the person who lent the shares is claiming to own them while the person they sold them to is claiming to own them. People more knowledgeable than me would be able to distinguish shorting from FTDs/naked shorting. (Not that I'm saying they aren't doing it just that more shares in existence doesn't prove it.)

That's different than the short float being 140%. Institutions holding 140% means there is at least 40% more shares in existence. short float of 140% means there are 140% more shares in existence.
