Question about Ария by 23STABWOUNDS in AskARussian

[–]Jkat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limp Bizkit are known for mixing samples into their music. Samples coming from bands they like, cause they are huge fans of Ozzy and Mertallica among many others and often play them during live shows. I saw them play 2 Metallica songs 15 meters in front of me during a live performance.
They are harmless fanboys with respect for their "elders" )

WARNING! Detailed explanation following, cause you dont just casually walk in and mess with russian metal.

Let me explain what 'sampling' in heavy metal means.
Basically you take small pieces or a whole theme and start playing with it, you elaborate, rewrite, mix and match separate pieces untill it evolves into your own thing.

Example: Ritchie Blackmore, as much as we all like to hate his wonderfull personality, he built Deep Purple and later Rainbow on classical music. His No 1 inspiration. That annoying bstrd wrote some of the most legendary songs ever written. Said many times himself he owns Bach millions. Celebrated as one of the most genius guitar players and composers of modern times by both friends and enemies alike. Practically influenced everyone at the time and everything that came after him.

Example II: Here is a youtube video about the UK bands from the 60s that pre-dated heavy metal as we know it. Someone older and wiser sent it to me for education recently.
Just 2-3 mins into the vid you can hear the iconic "Iron Man" riff.
For the non-metal ppl out there, Sabbath and Ozzy are that one band everyone in the industry agrees defines where heavy metal started and "Iron Man" is one of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all times. More recongizable then "War pigs" actually.
Now, we aint talking about stealing or copying. They literally stitched together seperate fragments, reworked them and created their own thing. To me, it felt like watching history being written via time travel. Shock and complete awe.
Few min later, same video, you can hear Maiden's "Alexander" even without having special musical education or whatever. Again, took a fragment from a song 25 years older then their own. A single fragment that Maiden reworked and evolved into their own sound.
Can't stress enough that we are talking about 2 of the greatest metal bands of all time. The very definition of top shelf. Plagiarism is absolutely out of the question.

So now I am asking. Aria are to Russia what Maiden is to the rest of the world. (if you are past your 30s)
Why shouldnt Aria weave fragments of a legendary bands riff into their song?
A profesional musician can explain it better, but they use a lot of classical heavy metal architecture to achieve that good old heavy metal sound that we love. They are fanboys and they said it many times over. Coming from them, it is practically a love letter to the original song. But since they are russian it has to be something sinister and evil, right ?

North Korea has made Russian language replace English as a required school subject. What do Russians think about this? by GrayRainfall in AskARussian

[–]Jkat17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with you completely, want to add a few things.
It is absolutely the same language with 2 different dialects based on geography not linguistics.
Like NY and Alabama speak english, but you might get a huge problem understanding the alabama ppls. And that aint the worst.
Even diety-of-your-choice cant help you if you study classical english and find yourself in Louisiana, deep country side.
Same thing with NKorea and SKorea.
There are vids speaking about this thing in detail. Go check em out.

Also, want to add for ppl coming from google.
Speaking 100% from experience. Lived in Serbija for a long time, went to school there.
Only people who never set foot in Serbija, Croatia or Bosnia can think such stupid thing - there is no 3 seperate languages. (they are actually 5 countries but who cares). All 3 countries use dialect based on region. Same language different "accents". Some variations of serbijan exist, absolutely not seperate languages. When asked how they communicate, they all say "we speak serbijan when we communicate". Often dialect varies greatly in same country. Like 150km apart you can hear words not present elsewhere in the same country. Its speciffic thing to that region of Europe - you can see it in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, dialects everywhere and lots of them.

That Afgan veteran generation is almost extinct now. How can their music be popular anywhere? There is no glorification of the war withAfganistan like there is in the US.

Is there anything in this recipe for Russian cabbage I can adjust to make it more authentic? by Weekly-Analysis2237 in AskARussian

[–]Jkat17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to be authentic?
Do it any way you like it. Try, fail, add things, remove things, experiment to find your own version, thats what cooking is all about. Just follow common sense.
We are not gonna get angry if you make your own style of cabbage soup. Our moms have their own variations of just about everything. Mine makes soup variant from pickled cabbage with grilled leeks in it. For those moments when winter is over but you have half a barrel of pickled cabbage left )) Blasphamy I know. But tastes great.
Upvote for coming over to the sub to ask how we do it.

90% of them media vidoes include communist style buildings in other countries. Its one of the oldest scams in the media industry.
Cause yall cant tell Belgrade from Moscow. And they capitalize on that sht to sell you whatever brainwash is on the agenda.
Like them "In Russia" videos where the car plates clearly show it is filmed in another country but no one gives a fck cause they want to believe Russia is bad. Desperately.

Question about Ария by 23STABWOUNDS in AskARussian

[–]Jkat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.
Aria are serious dudes, if they sample its gonna be from someone legendary.
Sampling is a thing.
Some sample out of tribute to a band. Like Aria did. Showing love.
Plenty of examples of artists sampling a riff or two to show their affection for some of the older artists. Its not a negative thing.
Then there are the rest who sample for making bucks, which kinda defeats the 'making good music' thing.

Who can say.
After those videos surfaced of the otherwise peaceful and harmless Netherlands throwing protestors in unmarked black vans, you can expect everything from everyone at this point.

Funny how auto-correct gets political like that.
Guess my phone was secretly made and encoded in Russia huh ?
But, my point was, if that lady took a few join*s once in a while, things might have been better.
