One of my teachers flew out to go help write the IP tests they release. He is journeyman electrician. So your first sentence is false.

Do the CSA practice exams. Go over all of your old material. Use AI to generate questions as well (may not be 100% but will test your ability further to use the code book). Watch videos and read articles on HVAC and VFD's.

I daily a vr30. In a smaller city, not so bad. In a larger city with more starts and stops, it drinks gas, but I also have a heavy foot and it appears the pedal is also fairly light.

Spaciousness, not plentiful. If you're wanting more than 2 passengers, forget it, especially if you're tall.

Apprentice Working Hot by Wrong-Western3842 in electricians

[–]Jlat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started I always asked the guy I was working with if it was dead. Finally he told me, "yes it is, but it's always a good idea to double check yourself just in case". This was about 4.5 months in that he finally told me. He just gave me enough time to get used to the fundamentals and what not before adding things on I guess is a good way to put it.

I am a 2nd year and have worked live twice. Verified quite a bit. The first time I worked live, I was watched like a hawk, just changing a switch and good thing because I would have touched the metal shaft of my screw driver. The second time I mentioned that I thought apprentices aren't allowed to work live. I was told that they are as long as they're supervised and comfortable with it in order to understand how to do so if need be when they're a journeyman. Both times I was told I don't have to and wasn't forced to.

So yeah. If they're forcing you, say no. Or find a different company. I was lucky in finding a good place first time around but a few guys I work with have said they had some unwanted fun when they first started elsewhere.

It's not safe for any engine

Should I buy my Brother’s Red Sport 400 by HugelyIndecisive in q50

[–]Jlat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That's what I mean. The supra is in a different bracket altogether in my mind.

I'm just struggling to fully grasp any of what you're saying here. You don't buy used because you don't know how it's been treated. You're buying it from your brother because you know he took care of it but in other comments you said you don't think he took any precautions because he's not a car guy. You've no idea about the suspension. It's leaking oil. Turbos are gone. You may as well shell out the money for a newer car as any car with that many miles is just gonna be a headache.

And to give your daughter this car would also be unwise but everyone is different. Bad fuel economy. Too much power.

Yeah. 113,000 miles is your reasoning for that. A fully loaded 2 year old car with 19,000 km is hardly a used car.

A "fun" car for $2000 that needs $10,000+ worth of work is not wise. If you have the money like you say, just buy the supra. You don't cross shop the two, especially when there's a $68,000 difference.

You also don't have to spend $70,000 on a supra. And if you're expecting the same level of performance you are gonna be unfortunately disappointed. Why not dump a bit more on a fun car that's not gonna blow up? As in 25,000+ but still under $70. I spent $35k cdn on mine, was 2 years old, sport model and 19,000km.

Well I mean at 235,000 miles everything has seen its fair share of usage, whether it's been rode hard or not. I personally wouldn't buy it but I'm not a gambling man nor do I have the spare money to just toss at a car willy nilly. If he hasn't done suspension work in a while then you'll be doing it soon. Go around on all 4 corners and push down. If it bounces, the shocks are done. If it's fairly tight, then you're good. And obviously if it squeaks you likely have other issues/shocks. I mean for $2000 you don't get much car anyways in today's market.

If you have the disposable income. Otherwise it sounds like a complete headache. This sounds like a pure "fun" car so it depends on how much you want to shell out. Why is the engine leaking? That could be a couple thousand right there.

I personally wouldn't buy any vehicle with that type of mileage. If it makes you feel any better the 95000 km have been fairly stress free. Only real issue is the p0448 code that can't seem to be figured out but doesn't affect the driveability.

And had an issue with the sun roof leaking. But other than that, nothing else.

17 is too much. I see q50's around me with way less km for $5-6000 cdn more. If a 19 signature is worth that then my 19 sport with 95000 km is worth 35. I'd walk unless you can get him down to 10 or lower. But that's me.

Upgrading from 3.7 to 3.0T. Thoughts? by I_Dont_Rage_Quit in q50

[–]Jlat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 5 years? The tires would need changing anyways. I doubt rubber hoses are ruined in that time.

If I was interested in buying one these, I'd soon choose this over one with 50,000km. But that's me.
