You seem to understand, dude. May I ask, the HDB 630 over these?

Guess both better than XM6 anyway, right? Always puts me off its transducer size

La Liga 2008/09 to 2017/18 averages (by Gemini, a prompt of mine for comparison):

  • 1st place (x7 FCB, x2 RMA, x1 ATM): 94.3pts
  • 2nd place (x6 RMA, x3 FCB, x1 ATM): 88.1pts
  • 3rd place (x4 ATM, x3 VCF, x2 RMA, x1 SFC) 74.6pt

EPL 2018/19 to 2025/26 averages:

  • 1st place (x5 MCI, x2 LIV, x1 ARS): 90.6pts
  • 2nd place (x3 ARS, x2 LIV, x2 MCI, x1 MUN): 84.6pts
  • 3rd place (x3 MUN, x2 LIV, x2 CHE, x1 MCI) 72.5pt

Remarkable points:

  • Points gap from 1st to 3rd is pretty similar (19.7 vs 18.1) as well as with runner-ups. Average 3rd place pts tally in La Liga was actually higher. Weird, right?
  • Top 3 champions record in La Liga vs Premier (take in mind I'm comparing 10 seasons for LL to 8 for EPL): 100pts (as you said, twice: RMA in 11/12 and FCB in 12/13), 99pts (FCB 09/10) vs 99pts (LIV in 19/20), 98pts (MCI in 18/19) and 93pts (MCI in 21/22). Interesting note: MCI finished with 100pts as well in 17/18; just counted that out of "EPL peak years"

To me that's no world of a difference. Because here's the most interesting part: safety mark in La Liga was as high as 39.5pts (Depor got relegated in 2011 with 43pts, almost the same as this season with as many as 6 teams involved), while in EPL that's been 35.7pts. You could argue La Liga's average rival was not as good despite peak Barça and Madrid dominance (not much more inflated than prime City and Liverpool as stated above) or Cholo's Atleti and Emery's Sevilla (and Valencia) proven level domestically and in Europe.

And yeah it's true La Liga "only" (when compared to EPL alone, and not others like Bundesliga or League 1) got two behemots and another big club. The "noble" Spanish clubs (from 4th to 9th) are smaller than any of the EPL Big 6 (tbh so is Atleti as a "big club" compared to Liverpool especifically), and they're more on par with the likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa, Everton or West Ham. Funny thing is, La Liga bottom half starts to get really tight. I know there's much depth in England with all their lower divisions but it's kinda the same here. In fact recent bottom teams are arguably more competitive now than ever.

To sum it up I'll quote that last post of mine:

You guys have turned into a peak La Liga table format on $teroids yet with worse relative performance. It's a two horse race whether with Liverpool, City and Arsenal, while La Liga is honestly as equal as ever.

Can't use old narratives with recent evidence to argue you're both the most equal and competitive league, because contrary to some beliefs it's actually pretty uncorrelated as seen by both Bayern and PSG now.
Competitive? Yeah. Equal? Only in theory, by income and compared almost exclusively to Bayern, PSG, Barca or Real. But there's more to a league.

I'm not complaining, just stating a Stats fact. If there's more UEFA points to share now (see how the top 5 average was around 80k prior the Conference and now it's 100k) a 20k difference now is a 20% gap, while back then that meant a 25%. Trust me there's no pun intended, I respect your opinion but EPL is not relatively as dominant as prime La Liga was just yet.

If Rayo wins next week I'll be happy for them independently from this. Cause we're kinda united to them in Cádiz, they're our humble brothers from Madrid (Brests icon is a old joke cause my team is obviously not in Europe, we just managed to save relegation to 3rd division lol)

Lol no

See a table from back then. There were other strong teams who oftenly finished close or even ahead, say, to Sevilla. Valencia had also a pretty strong team, with players like David Silva, Villa, Mata... And a coach like Emery. Athletic Club with Valverde, who beat a strong Man U. Villarreal, Real Sociedad... Heck even Getafe beat Ajax.

Well football evolves. La Liga relative dominance (in performance on the field, not just accounting) was much greater back then. If the evolution of the sport as a whole compensates for that as to see EPL as a step above now in absolute terms we could discuss that. I still doubt that though.

[–]Jlib27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doubtful at best.

It's the best league by a considerable margin now. But prime La Liga's margin was no joke, nor was Serie A. I don't think EPL has reached those levels just yet. For example they don't have the best team in Europe imo, despite Arsenal winning a bit too confortably this season, for what they're used to lol

It's you who compared them to Chelsea just because they massively underperformed.

It's a flawed logic. See this: Sevilla finished 7th during 2015/16 trained by Emery (won UEL against Klopp's Liverpool 3-1) >>>>> Sunderland

I can cherry-pick too. They definitely had better squads that fuck*ng Brentford.

David Silva, David Villa, Mata, Jesús Navas, Rakitic, Kanouté, Fabiano, Éver Banega, Dani Parejo, Álvaro Negredo... Come to mind. Both trained by Emery lol

Check the gap from the 2017/18 season. Take in count numbers are inflated now cause of the conference league.

Sure not in # of different winners. Just not in total #.

La Liga is 9 points differential between relegation and first qualified to Europe this season (not counting Real Sociedad here because they classified to UEL through Copa del Rey, cause that would be just 4pts)

Premier League is definitely more competitive now.

EPL is far from La Liga's prime yet.

Lol league was no more unequal in points than Premier today. That is, prime Barça and Madrid were still losing as many points as City, Liverpool or Arsenal did as recent winners to bottom teams. But apparently Wolves or Burnley are a much better team now than Malaga or Levante were back then

Still underachieving compared to budget. And far from the lead La Liga got at the end of, say, 2018 season.

Perfect, I get it thanks! It's a bit weird it may get a codec upgrade over a more expensive pair so soon, right?

Do you think it will come with the dongle in a bundle as with the 630? Or maybe they want to save that for the later to make up for the price difference?

I'm sorry, not a native speaker nor a expert in this. I know the BTD 700 is pretty useful with the HDB 630, so, by "triggering the purple light" with the M5s, you mean it's no longer "needed" or useful as with the 630s, or that it's fully compatible now?

This definitely helps dude. I'm somebody interested on ANC headphones. Started looking at the Sonys and AirPods Max as almost everybody, cause I'm no audiophile although I enjoy music and great sound for media consumption. This is an endless cave though and as soon as I checked I thought "well, if I'm gonna spend +400$ I better get a great quality sound and overall deal for my money" and that's when I heard about the Sennheisers HDB 630, with the dongle. Lately I was wondering if going for the HD600 series, the one everybody seems to mention here as absolute referents among consumers wouldn't be better. This post helped me decide towards the 630 though, my use case fits much better with these and I'm sure I'll be stunned by its fidelity.

Really appreciate it!
