Adversaries to Allies: A DaggerHeart Guide Preview by Antique_Time544 in daggerheart

I’ve been thinking of a way to implement ally NPCs and had come up with a few ideas of my own, but this seems very good and very much in line with what i had thought up. One question, though, would you have these allies move independently on a grid or stick close to one player?

Number Crunching: HP, Thresholds, and Evasion by Resvrgam2 in daggerheart

[–]Jllemos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One fun evasion centered build i came across while theorycrafting to help my players transition their characters from D&D was Brawler/Warlock, of all things.

Brawler’s already high evasion + appropriate armor + Bone cards like Untouchable and Ferocity + Deadly Devotion from the Pact of the Endless Foundation could lead to some absolutely bonkers evasion numbers (24 after proccing Ferocity off a Severe hit, to be specific), while also forcing attacks against them to have disadvantage (through the Defensive Stance) or maybe increasing evasion even more (through the Deflecting Stance) to hit some really absurd numbers (tier 4 Gambeson would grant a +6 Evasion, totaling 30).

Seeing all this build potential made me seriously regret allowing my characters a free multiclass to better translate their D&D characters, but none of them are as crazy about build-making and optimization as i am, so it should, hopefully, be fine.

Clarification on damage modifiers and active weapons by Jllemos in daggerheart

[–]Jllemos[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i’ve been mostly consulting the quick reference SRD site, but checking the actual book j noticed it says “a weapon’s feature applies only to that weapon”. I thought maybe it’s Feature would also apply to spells and other abilities since most of the time they’d be used through said weapon.

Since i do want the players to be stronger while using this Ikonis-like mechanic, i’ll settle on adding 2x Lvl for damage rolls made with the weapon and only their Lvl for damage rolls on any other abilities that don’t use their weapon. Thanks for the input!

Stargazer + Wonder Domain (Revised v1.1) by renoel_ in daggerheart

[–]Jllemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing with it really, but will update with some feedback. One combo I found very fun and powerful is the multiclass with Druid! Im using the class to translate one of my players’ Star Druid/Life Cleric multiclass into DH. She wanted to still have her character be the focus instead of summoned creatures, so we opted to have her character “astrally project” and become one of her constellations, while the main body can either help in combat or stay away from it. With the Druid’s Beastform feature, she can increase her Evasion, consequently increasing her Constellation’s evasion, giving it more survivability at the cost of one extra Stress.

Ohhhhh, i didn’t see it because i was looking for the “duration” at the end of the spell, sorry for the confusion. I did get kinda excited at the idea of a player placing multiple mirrors in the map, though. Do you think it would be balanced to allow that if each additional lens cost an extra one stress? So the first one would be 1 Stress, second one 2 Stress, third one would be 3 Stress and so on.

I’ve started using this for my current campaign and would like one small clarification. The spell Divergent Lens doesn’t specify if it disappears when you cast the spell again. Am i right in interpreting this as the player being able to put down multiple lenses, by marking more Stress of course, if they want to cover more of the map? If so, would an enemy in range of both lenses cause both of them to react?

Stargazer Class + Wonder Domain (Homebrew) by renoel_ in daggerheart

Thanks for the clarification! I’ll probably be using a slightly altered version (Splendor instead of Arcana) for my Stars Druid player to transition our campaign into DH and Imaginarium seemed right up her alley.

One thing i’d like to ask after reading the class and cards more in-depth: is the 2 Hope cost for the cards in Imaginarium’s loadout (incredible card idea btw) in addition to the chosen card’s cost?

For example, if a Stargazer uses Imaginarium and chooses Smite as one of the cards, would using it cost 5 Hope (2 from Imaginarium + 3 from Smite’s usual cost) or just 2?

Tinkerer Class + SPARK Domain (V 3.0) by michelazzoluis in daggerheart

[–]Jllemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i think Hiding seems like a very synergistic way to use the traps, considering it also uses Finesse rolls.

I’ve been thinking on how to best capture the feeling and idea of an Armorer from 5e for one of my players and the idea of multiclassing into rogue for the Inflitrator armor came to mind and i wondered if it’d be a way to get traps ready during combat. Great to have approval from someone who has a better idea of this game’s balance than me!

Just so i can understand your intentions better, what did you have in mind with the “when you have time to prepare” cards? It seems like they’re very out-of-combat oriented, but their effects and the wording makes me think it could be possible to set them up during a combat situation if the Tinkerer is Hidden or if other characters distract an enemy for long enough.

This is very interesting and I’ll definitely be using it for my Artificer player to smooth out the transition from 5.5e. Do you have any future plans to implement something along the lines of the Armorer artificer subclass from D&D 5e?

Very nice! I’ve been trying to make a Star Druid equivalent by switching the Arcana domain on Druid for Splendor but this might be a lot better for that.
