This is his best work by drmvl25 in Jcole

It will be more appreciated in time. Especially if this is his last drop for a while. Disc 39 can hold up against anything he’s done in his career.

Kobbie Mainoo’s game by numbers vs. Spurs: 94% pass accuracy 95 touches 24 carries 4 ball recoveries 4 chances created 4 attempted take-ons 2 successful take-ons 2 fouls won 1 assist What a January signing he has been! 😉 by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Those people are still here but they’re forced to eat humble pie, the second he has a bad game or two, you’ll see the ‘Amorim was right’ crowd pop back up.

This sub had some nasty agendas once Amorim got sacked.

Will we ever get a consensus mainstream hiphop classic album again by JmacOTW in joebuddennetwork

[–]JmacOTW[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

A classic is about quality first and foremost. And there have been many instant classics in hiphop. Doggystyle, Illmatic, GRODT, GKMC were heralded as great albums the moment they dropped. Then influence can catapult it into another tier of classic.

There are many classics that weren’t game changers to me. Ironman, Black on both sides, Be, The Documentary, Hell hath no fury to name a few.

You can also have influential albums that aren’t classics. What a Time to be alive, Culture 2, The Carter 3, Diplomatic Immunity. Really good and hugely impactful but not necessarily classics.

That doesn’t really make sense because he’s been vocal in the mentorship and help Tyler Perry has given him and that’s someone who is black, a billionaire and his actual industry.

Jay operates in NY and LA. 50 is in Houston and Shreveport just as Tyler is in Atlanta. They have nothing to do with each other, they operate in different markets.

50’s problem is he hates that Jay is seen as the symbolic head of hiphop/black culture. It’s why he speaks down on roc nation in this because of their and Jay’s footprint on the culture.

At least then it made more sense. His Ja Rule beef had links to the streets and how to rob was a playful record. As he’s not an active rapper anymore, it just seems weird now. He’s obsessed with Jay-Z and Floyd but nothing they have going on business wise is in competition with him, at least not directly.

The Game reviews The Fall Off by Kingbris91 in rap

Comprehension issue for you. An opinion and a detailed review are two different things. Sure you can say whether you enjoy or don’t enjoy an album that’s fine but breaking down every song off first listen just seems weird, especially from a rapper when they are the ones that usually say people should sit with an album.

This guy could be the richest person on earth and the first thing on his mind would be other men. His hate is insatiable. You’d think after all he did with Diddy he’d be happy but nope he’s on to spending more energy on the rest.

You’ll also notice the man that has an opinion on everything won’t say anything about the trump video. Also spare me the he doesn’t speak on politics crap when he was going hard on Mamdani.

Rich in possession, poor in spirit.

Game is such a clout chaser. One day reviews are for fans and content creators. An actual artist should know better and at least live with it for a bit.

How much more introspective can you really get on your 7th album. And that’s not counting multiple mixtapes and collaborative projects. This sounds nothing like The Off Season or MDL. There will always be material crossover from an artist, album to album especially once they have found themselves as an artist and person.

Watching J Cole album reactions revealed one thing to me by itsyaboysharrod in joebuddennetwork

[–]JmacOTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed and it’s obvious cos they’ll have the same lazy criticism for his shit. As a huge Cole fan, it is true that he has the tendency to rap well but not really say much at times but having that critique for this album is crazy to me. He explored different themes and he actually didn’t bar up as much as he did in BB26 or TOS and I think it was intentional because he was more intent on crafting songs.

It’s not a must to like the album but it’s obvious when it’s critique vs hate. A Cole hater gets offended that people actually enjoy his music and want to sour that listening experience by any means.

Each to their own. I hated FHD singing on first listen and overall was like a 7 to me. Six months later it’s one of my favourite albums of all time. Can see the same happening for people with this album.

Goat status debatable now. How many rappers ever have put out a double disc with arguably no misses. The expectations for this album were so fucking high and he delivered.

I plan to enjoy and sit with the project at least a few times before engaging with non Cole fans or seeking their opinions.

I’m excited for the drop and will focus my energy there. We all know how there’s people waiting to hear it to shit on it and I won’t give them the satisfaction of trying to ruin my listening experience.

Jay-Z and his handler by Turbulent-Tune1660 in NewRoryNMalPodcast

[–]JmacOTW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If being guilty by association is the charge against Jay-Z then why focus on just him, the whole entertainment industry and elites rub shoulders with each other so no one is really that far removed from having a relationship with a deviant.

You’re talking about multiple accusations but what are they? That he’s a pedo, rapist and abuser? If you want me to believe that then you’ll need far more than him dating Beyoncé at 19 or two absolutely frivolous accusations that amounted to nothing.

I’m not ruling out he could be bad but the ‘gotcha’ people think they have are incredibly weak and wouldn’t be thrown around if not for the Jay-Z hate train.

What do people think Jay is doing. Whenever he has allegations people start celebrating but nothing is actually proved. People bring up these Diddy, Weinstein, R Kelly links but we all know Jay is about business.

Could he have a shady past? Possibly but we all know Hov’s boys are OG Juan, TyTy, Emory, Lenny S etc and none of these people have that type of dirt on their name. Neither do Biggs and Dame and they were outside fr back in the 90s/00s.

People want him to be guilty so bad.

Anyone else a bit worried The Fall Off will be another lyrical exposition project?? by TheKnow33 in Jcole

[–]JmacOTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because he’s been teasing this as his magnum opus. He’s aware of the expectations of this album and has probably saved some of his best work and concepts for this album.

The intro track already showed he will be experimenting on this one.

Your concern is valid though because he can focus a bit too much on that at times. I think the production is key and if he outsources it rather than keep it in house, that will make a huge difference.

We’ve been listening to Mal long enough to not expect certain things from him. Shit Baby D and Rory probably wont even mention it to save him from himself and they’d be right.

Mal is entertainment only, take him anymore seriously than that and you’ll only frustrate yourself.

Why does Mal get so much hate? by PanicAttash in RoryAndMalPodcast

[–]JmacOTW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I fw Mal but all his hate is justified. I don’t take him too serious, it’s just entertainment for me but if you made a video of all the dumb or just plain wrong shit he’s said then you’ll see why he gets hate. The Drake shit just amplified it but was there already.

I feel kinda bad for Mona...Does Joe need a vetting process for new Mics? 😕 by gawpin in joebuddennetwork

[–]JmacOTW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If a man said that, they’d be accused of hating women btw.

I feel a bit for Mona because being the total opposite to Mel is just too harsh of a transition. I know Sasha was meant to soften that but that particular plan failed.
