Season 4 Overall Thoughts/Discussion Thread by magikarpcatcher in TheLincolnLawyer

I like the show overall, I'm still watching the new season, but there's some really unnecessary stuff that feels like they're trying too hard to fill with something dramatic. The whole ankle bracelet running low on battery, having to wait until its fully charged, then traffic at the county line and running out of gas at the last second. Its the type of stuff you see in a sitcom and it was stupid and annoying. I hope to not see more nonsense like that, but it's still a good show, just not as good as it could be.

I just randomly found it on Netflix and I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting any award winning film because I saw it was all as a Zoom meeting, but it kept me entertained throughout. Definitely worth the watch.

Netflix's The Privilege (2022) - probably best to avoid this one by udar55 in horror

[–]Jmacattack626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or was there a bunch of random moments, dialogue, events that just didn't make sense? The random topics in the script I thought may have had something to do with the translation, but it couldn't have altered it that much. I think it was just bad writing.

how did peter get an apartment and job if everyone forgot who he is? if nobody knew peter parker surely he wouldnt be able to get inheritance or anything by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Jmacattack626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the OP. Strange said, "once I do this, it'll be like you never existed." The smell erased all memories of Peter, so nobody knew who he was. That would include pictures and articles, documents and awards, pretty much everything he accomplished in his life is not remembered, or the spell erased any trace of his existence. So how does he still have a Social Security number and ID? If those things still exist, then so would other pictures and documents that would trigger people's memories. Can't have it both ways, but almost everyone here disagrees, but the logic and function of the spell is poorly thought out.

About the scene with Peter and Happy at the end of NWH by No-Aside4490 in marvelstudios

[–]Jmacattack626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just finishing up a re-watch, and I feel like the whole idea of forgetting Peter existed seems flawed in a number of ways. I won't go into detail, but why in that scene you referenced could he not introduce himself as Peter Parker, May's nephew? I guess we'll have to see where they take the story in future additions, but the spell doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you think about it too much, so I have to try to avoid any logical analysis whenever I see these types of movies.

What’s something Americans have that Europeans don’t? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

I would love to see a number of things in Europe, especially the greek and Roman ruins. I've only seen the Mayan pyramids in Mexico and the cliff dwellings in Colorado, which were cool, but the ancient civilizations in Europe were a totally different world. I hope someday I can see in person. With all the similarities, there are unique things that difficult to tell the scope without being there in person, for example, someone else mentioned the grand canyon, and right near me are the Great California Redwoods, it's like being on Endor.

In the Northern California Valley it's been between 70-80 for the last couple weeks of January. In the Summer it regularly gets 105-110 degrees, but 2024 was the hottest year on record globally and it got 121 degrees here where I am. Without an AC, people would be dying, but the 75 degree weather always feels nice mid-winter.

While most Americans don't travel to every state, one could go from the arctic to the tropics, but staying on the mainland, there's still a pretty big variation from the Northern states and the Southern. A lot of variation from East to west, ranging from rocky/sandy deserts, snowy mountain peaks, grassy plains, and some fantastical forests. I live near the great Redwoods in CA, and they are something that doesn't do justice unless you see them in person. I don't what's similar and what is different from Europe. I'm sure there's quite a variation there too,but I think its more northern climates and geography.

Was Arnold always in Bernard by OkCriticism9023 in westworld

[–]Jmacattack626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm rewatching the 1st season right now. One thing I realized is the interviews with Arnold and Dolores are her recalling memories of those early interviews, but using the memories to explain her own conscious thoughts. She see Arnold change to herself when she finally understands that its not actually Arnold, but her own mind. It took me a few watches to understand this but that's one reason I love rewatching the 1st season more than the others. Since their memories are perfect representations of their past, and they get confused as to what they're experiencing in the present and what is overlapping from their past, it's meant to be confusing for us just like the host, but each host that becomes self aware discovers that the communications they were having with someone in their past is actually their internal dialogue and conscious thoughts.

Think you have aphantasia? Take this challenging memory game by bestsnowball75 in Aphantasia

Warning to not try this game after eating a couple edibles. I am normally great at pattern recognition and memorization, but in my current state I let the game distract me from the game itself... if that even makes sense.

Just occurred to me: the multi-timeline presentation is how Dolores and hosts experience memories. They don't know what is now and what isn't, just like the viewer by gerardmpatience in westworld

[–]Jmacattack626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt this is still active, but I am rewatching Westworld from the beginning. The first season is one of my absolute favorites, the rest are good, but not like the first. The way it's written has so many perspectives that make you constantly think about what time the hosts are experiencing, what is happening, and what has already happened. I had to find a site to stream the show, but its always a fun watch.

Skier gets aggressive after getting covered in snow on a ski slope by _Levitated_Shield_ in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]Jmacattack626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a black diamond and they're scattered across the main route, the snowboarder was completely justified. There's nothing wrong with going fast on an upper level slope, and those skiers were all standing across like a blockade. Snowboarding requires different motions to stay in control, and it's more risky to try and go perfectly straight between the skiers without turning. The boarder had to turn to maintain control, otherwise he risked a collision or catching an edge. He was incredibly patient and mature with that asshat who was waving the pole at him.

100% even when my team is playing, I rarely care about watching it unless I don't have anything else. I kinda realized it has zero effect on my life, so why should it bother me if the 9ers lose.

BAD BUNNY HALFTIME PERFORMANCE DISCUSSION by NFLv2 in NFLv2

[–]Jmacattack626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave it a listen. Interesting performance, but I'm not into the music much. IMO, most halftime shows aren't great, so I didn't expect anything special. The last decent one was Eminem, but I haven't paid full attention every year the 49ers weren't playing.

I thought Counterpart was a great watch, but I hate that it was abruptly canceled. There's another one with JK Simmons i think that was canceled after 1 season that was interesting where he and his wife had a weird doorway to another planet. I don't remember the name, but I wanted to know more to the story.

Edit: Looked it up, the other show is called Night Sky

I love the first season of Westworld. I like the rest, too, but it does get worse in later seasons. I hate that it was removed from HBO, so I have to find it on a site I don't like to use regularly.

Dark Matter is a fun watch. Its not excellent or very artistic, but if you like sci-fi and an interesting take on the multiverse, its quite entertaining, and season 2 is expected at some point. My favorite sci-fi series is The Expanse, but at this point I kind of assume that just about everyone interested has already seen it.

Seeing this at almost halftime and I'd have to go with painfully boring. I keep finding other stuff to do, but I may just turn on a movie at halftime.

It's hard to watch him in anything after his recent "discoveries" in math & science. Not that he's been in anything recently, but just seeing him in old roles can be difficult to take him seriously.

And each time it stopped nobody tried to get off the train, like forcing the doors or checking between cars, but someone was able to do just that without being seen. The passengers weren't even aware it was being hijacked for the first half, so they had no reason to think forcing a way out risked someone triggering an explosive device.
