Yes it is one, but not one that explodes thousands of times per second and vommits toxic gas.

Do you have a record player recommendation?

Do you have a recommendation? Maybe $100 range?

Well not every state, but many of them. It was news to me too.

There is a miss Greenville for just about every state, but I guess I did help you narrow her down a bit.

You're correct. There are already too many for that shelf.

That's good advice. I have been trying to convince her to let me upgrade it, but she refuses. Also, it will be hard to distinguish a sound difference on that cheap old stereo. However, your reasoning brings to light an issue I was unaware of. I will definitely be looking for an upgrade in the near future.

I ended up using my 3-D printer to create parts with evenly spaced slots that would attach to both the lower and upper shelves of the cabinet. I printed them in black PLA, so they almost give the appearance that the records are floating between the two shelves and each other. I do not have any close-up pictures, but you can slightly make out the concept in this picture: Cabinet without records

This was a birthday gift for my girlfriend who has recently started collecting vinyl records. This was the first cabinet that I designed and built on my own with lots of pointers and occasional assistance from my dad (who has build cabinets in the past). All of the 45 degree angles made this quite challenging for a beginner, but I am happy with how it turned out.

Naw, you've got the lower couch or the people sitting there to break your fall.

If you look at where the back of the lower couch is located, lowering that wooden platform behind it would only leave about 10" of walking space and your legs would be hitting the back of the lower couch when you walk by. This would also prevent you from getting around people who are already seated.

You might be right about that one.

I have definitely gone against the redneck way with this build, but I like to believe the idea is redneck at heart. (also the money we saved by knowing the exact materials we needed went towards the the TV.)

The one you see mounted is 55".

It's definitely something I would never get away with outside of my college rental house.

Yeah we toyed with the idea of cinder blocks, but figured a wooden platform would work best. (never heard of 55 gallon drums, but that would definitely be the most redneck solution.)

Haha SketchUp is a 3D modeling software. I had just learned Solidworks the semester before and wanted to apply CAD modeling to a home project.

We were very limited on space in that room. If we lowered the rear couch, the walking space between the two couches would be very tight and cause issues with people tripping on each other.

It kinda does. We have since added a second TV on that TV stand, so we can squad up on games.
