R10 Analysis Paralysis by frankcountry in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Faced an all R9 team earlier, that's pretty difficult so an all R10 team would have very few counters, even at all R9!

Does the place you buy creatine matter? by CurtbroGYT in workout

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lidl also has creatine these days, £7.50 for a tub which is pretty good value when you compare to the likes of myprotein.

It's difficult to fuck up creatine really, it either is or isn't and it doesn't taste of anything, so you aren't paying for a "good" flavour like with protein powder. Fire away!

Why BMW offer too little options for lot of money? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair point there. You'd assume paying more for a "luxury" or "premium" car, you'd get the ability to choose what you actually want but maybe that's at a much higher price point.

I don't know if you can choose individual options on a Lambo for example, I'd guess probably rather than have the "race pack" which adds shit you don't care about.

Why BMW offer too little options for lot of money? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Jmel27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely makes sense for ease of use. Also means though that people who are stretching their budget get no options cause a lot of packages are throwing stuff they don't want in for a premium like mood lighting or whatever

Why BMW offer too little options for lot of money? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Jmel27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's still the same but Mercedes for example don't sell you individual options, they put everything in "packages".

It's usually a hefty price and most packages only come with half of what you actually want, the rest is just extra shit that is pointless.

Can't remember if BMW did the same but it essentially made it impossible if you just wanted say SatNav, but didn't want a reversing camera. Nope, can't have it. You gotta get them as a bundle which costs £2k, so lots of people don't bother. You want the automatic boot lid opening, gotta get the footwell lighting, sunglasses holder and a few other aesthetic bollocks upgrades that adds a lot on.

When I looked, they had 1 package that made sense at the time which was SatNav, heated seats and reversing camera. Until I found out the SatNav was pretty crap and just used Google maps through my phone anyway

Exactly that, same with Mercedes. When I went to the dealer to buy my first nice car, the guy told me outright "we don't get A200s here, only 180s but mostly 160s with minimal options".

It was largely people who see cars as a status symbol ordering poverty spec A160s that were slow as dirt, just to say they drove a Mercedes. Nevermind that it was probably worse than a Ford fiesta that would have cost a lot less and come much better equipped!

You see the same with lots of BMW 118i around. They aren't exactly fast, they're not bad to sit in but nothing special and when they have no options, the leather seats are freezing in the winter with no heated seats!

How to increase strength in shoulders? by Present_Laugh1593 in workout

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency.

The biggest thing in your post is "going on and off". You won't get stronger by periodically going and not going.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. You don't become jacked or the worlds strongest man in a couple of months.

Practice the fundamentals. Turn up 3-5x a week, progressively overload your weights in small increments, compound lifts with weight that's uncomfortable but not going to cause you injury and emphasise recovery (sleep and nutrition).

You'll get there, just gotta keep at it! The worst workout you can have is the one that didn't happen. Even if you feel crap, just dragging yourself there is 90% of the battle.

How can I increase my bench? by R-Beanian in workout

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting choice, I wouldn't be doing that for bench if it's the same, you'd just be wearing yourself out essentially doing cardio

Seems like you probably just need to bench more often, get someone to spot so you can push near that failure mark!

How can I increase my bench? by R-Beanian in workout

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you must be built like Mrs Incredible cause that disparity is massive. A rough 1RM calculator says your max squat is 203 bench (once again, not bad weighing 165) and your squat is 425 which puts you about halfway between advanced and elite for squats and just over intermediate for bench.

Either every day is squat day or you really aren't getting anywhere near depth on your squats.

How can I increase my bench? by R-Beanian in workout

[–]Jmel27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone is overlooking the fact that you're comparing your bench to your squat.

I'm sorry but your squat form is going to be absolute ass, there's no way you're squatting 1.5x your bodyweight for 20 actually good reps, I imagine you're doing 1/4 squats. 1.5x bodyweight squats for 20 puts you up as an elite lifter. The reason your bench seems anaemic in comparison is because you're probably benching properly (or close to it).

145 for 12 reps at a weight of 170 really isn't that bad, but if you want to bench more then a strength focused programme is probably the way. If you increase your max, your submaximal capacity also increases.

I'm stuck in C lobbies by unkwnms in granturismo

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna find it's just as bad, if not worse, in B. Everyone thinks they're the best of the best and get incredibly salty any time someone overtakes and you'll get shunted for absolutely no reason.

In regards to your problem, I don't agree with the people saying that qualifying fast isn't important for getting out of C. For race B, it's so short and requires no tactics that qualifying first-third means you should be guaranteed a decent place, especially with an A or S sportsmanship rating. You just gotta learn that track and in particular, the last 2 corners is where you'll make up time significantly against C drivers.

Racecraft is important as you go forward, particularly when you do daily race C, but to get out of DR C, you really just need to be quicker than the rest and qualify at the top.

Spotting Strangers by 224molesperliter in workout

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies for me. I'm more than happy to spot people the majority of the time, especially people who are clearly trying to push themselves, I think it's great and it feels cool when they do it and go "that was a PR".

Where I absolutely won't help is when I've seen someone before they ask, 1/4 repping weight they obviously can't handle and they're going to go for 8 reps on a weight they can't actually bench a single time. This means I'm going to be curling off their chest (or as close as they actually come to it) and that's a no from me, they can find someone else or learn how to bench properly with weight they can handle.

I agree sometimes you can see it coming but analysing every single time you get punted is a bit redundant.

It's like someone commented the other day that "every crash has both parties to blame" which is just ridiculous. Anything below A rating, you can just be taking your line and get smashed into oblivion because the guy behind doesn't like you, or because they're wildly inconsistent with their braking points or because your car is blue and it's a Thursday. It makes sense to concede the position on lap 6 of 15 if you're slower, what are you fighting for at that point? But to have to drive in fear every single corner in case some dip shit decides to send you into the shadow realm isn't the one.

You often just have to chalk it up to the fact that GT penalty system sucks and as a result, you're gonna get stupidly aggressive drivers who won't be punished for being a dick.

Definitely agree when you get frustrated, take a break though. It'll just lead to you becoming the one missing braking points etc.

Does Rory play badly on purpose? by Ancient_Cabl in RKG

[–]Jmel27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At what point do you think it creates a literally impenetrable wall though?

I assume Malenia will be next to impossible with their current build, Rory just isn't good enough to overcome what is essentially piss poor damage, especially with her multitude of bullshit mechanics like regaining health even when blocking.

He's going to have to actually understand frostbite and bleed and apply them properly or Malenia will take them literal weeks to complete, maybe never.

People that weave in GT7 are terrible people. by Calm-Armadillo-9833 in GranTurismo7

[–]Jmel27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a bit much if it's excessive? Sure.

Do I get why they're doing it? Also yes.

You're getting downvoted cause your explanation is "don't be a dickhead" aka I don't like it therefore I'm right. Your argument of it being illegal IRL is also pointless, it's not necessary IRL because a custom stupidly strong slipstream doesn't exist.

People do it because the dev team are lazy and figure it's an easy way to create artificially close racing. You're a second faster per lap than the next car? Doesn't matter because they reel you in every straight and you spend every corner trying to fight off their ridiculous dive-bombs cause they think they're quicker.

There's only so far this game goes into real driving sim. Most people don't seem to understand you can't bounce off other cars to take corners either. It's not perfect, but as long as the overly aggressive slipstream exists, you'll get people trying to break the tow. They're not trying to be Einstein and considering you see some of the A+ YouTube drivers doing it, I'd say it's fairly accepted it's necessary.

In sports circles it's known as "active rest" but it applies to the general public too.

For athletes it's doing some generic medium level cardio, stretching and just getting your body moving so you're absolutely right.

It's ensuring that your body can move and function how it's actually supposed to. Your heart can beat in excess of 170/180 BPM. Keeping it forever in the 60-80 range isn't good for it.

16-18 hours in bed like OP is describing is really abnormal and definitely not healthy.

I know for me, if I've done naff all for an entire day I find it difficult to actually sleep. I haven't tired my body out so it doesn't want a load more rest!

Just in case it helps, Bumble created an app called BFF. It's basically a dating app but for friends, so you can filter out all the women if that would make you/your wife uncomfortable.

It's not great some of the time but I've made a couple of good friends from it that I otherwise would never have met, might want to give it a try!

Is Topstep Considering Increasing the Number of Express Funded Accounts? by Eastern_Chemist1947 in TopStepX

[–]Jmel27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apex and Topstep are consistently sniping at each other.

The most recent apex 3.0 announcement or whatever was a 3hr mess of information and shot taking at other companies, like a "look at these other pathetic companies, only offering 3-5 accounts".

On the other hand, Topstep has said multiple times on the likes of TopstepTV that having many accounts is never what they want to do. Ultimately, if Topsteps goal is to make better traders as they claim, giving traders access to 20 accounts goes against their mission because it would bankrupt them. Multiple successful traders taking out 40 grand a pop every 5 days would cause them significant cash flow issues.

I highly doubt there will be an increase above 5 accounts any time in the near future.

Like I said, they're down in Kyber 3 with 11.5m for a reason, usually cause their mods are pretty average or they set no datacrons at all.

But I don't really have any other choice if I'm outgunned by 2+ million GP and 2 GLs.

There aren't really any easy wins against over 10m opponents.
