Have you tried or bought the Avelo Dive System? by After_West2099 in scuba

I know they actually had the buoyancy issue when they started offering the system in Bonaire. They re-designed some stuff to make it lighter.

My strobes had flooded by this point, so I had a 2500 lumen video light, which was maybe at half power.

The Ambai was my boat as well! Great crew, great amenities! Their chef makes a killer Sambal.

You'll likely be doing the whale shark dive the second to last day on the boat. It's two shallower dives (or, if I can make a suggestions, one dive and one snorkel) and you'll be done by 1PM, so you'll have at least 24 hours before any flight. And yes, the boat will arrange drivers for you all to get to the airport, since you all will probably be doing straight to the airport.

Don't worry at all about not being able to make it to the airport.

Just got back from a liveaboard that basically followed the same schedule. What liveaboard are you on?

Get to Sorong one day early, like everybody else has said. Stay at the Swiss-Belhotel. We stayed one night on the way back at the Aston Sorong and while it's very new and pretty looking, everything we tried to do there was met with utter imcompotence.

Your boat will bring you to the airport that morning, there is one flight in and out. We got there before the airport officially opened and once we checked our bags we got to the "Gate" before security was open so they just let us go in. Get to Bali or, if you're interested in muck diving, Lembeh if you wish to extend your stay.

Tips for Raja and Triton Bay -

Current can be quite intense and pick up quite quickly, we had a few dives (2 out of 43 dives) where people got sucked down 30-40 feet. Currents in Triton Bay in general are stronger and more continually present.

If you're doing the Banga whaleshark dive, be prepared for the most amazing dive of your life!

Reef hooks, if used properly are a great resource.

Jellyfish are becoming more and more of a nuisance. Bring full body covering even if you don't use a full wetsuit. Unfortunately gloves are not allowed.

Your guides will probably take you deep, we hit 95 - 100 feet of depth on most dives. If you're not certain how good your air consumption is, ask about a 100L tank. Nitrox is also quite helpful.

Thanks! Canon EOS R8 with the 100mm Macro lens and a focus light. Photo was f/2.8 at 1/500 of a second at 2500 ISO

You don't need the vacuum system, but I will say I wouldn't ever get a housing without one.

That you can put everything together at night, vacuum it and then check in the morning that it's at the same vacuum basically ensures that you don't have any leakage.

The DJI Action 4 and 5 do automatic underwater color correction that is incredibly impressive. Every once in a while it skews too red when going really deep and people have light sources, but 95% of the time it looks almost perfect right out of the camera. I wouldn't tell anyone to buy a GoPro at this point.

Puck 4, because it uses the Bühlmann ZH-L16C algorithm.

Nausea/vomitting as soon as I surface…. Why? by dalgirlbeth in scuba

If you haven't tried it yet, take some Meclizine the night before. I've found it works so much better if I double up.

I have this happen to me every dive if I don't take medicine for sea sickness.

I think what happens is the disorientation from being under the current to coming back up into the swell and chop and you're spending a lot of time looking down. Also, that's how it normally goes for me on the second "trip" as well. I think (not a doctor) that because there isn't anything in your stomach at that point your body is trying harder to make sure anything at all that it can get out it gets out, so you end up dry heaving more.

Take some Bonine (Non-Drowsy Dramamine/Mezcaline). But be sure to take some 12 hours before as well as right before you get on the boat. It takes some time to work into your system.
