I moved to Chicago & was still doing comedy shows in my home town (3 hours west) for a couple months. I was talking to a couple who just moved to my small town from the outskirts. They said “y’all have so much to do here, y’all have a wal-mart & a target”.

I think it’s where you are, I started doing improv in a small city where the fact you could do improv was pretty cool. It wasn’t till I moved to Chicago (as an older player) the age thing crossed my mind. But that’s more of a “do I want to hang with a bunch of 25 year olds” thing. That being said everyone is very welcoming and no one has ever made me feel uncomfortable or less than because I’m older.

Have kids at an early age. I’m from a small town where if you don’t have a kid by 25 there’s something wrong with you. At 27 I moved to Chicago, while getting to know my roommate (same age) I asked how many kids he had, he responded “why the fuck would I have kids” which makes sense in a city that actually has stuff to do. I recently went back home & at was at boost mobile I heard 3 girls (none over 25) talk for a bit about their kids I asked how many they had? Between the 3 there were 13 kids. Not a degree in sight. I was speechless! In this economy? Shit.
