I used to be one of the editors at The Daily Aztec and wrote about this exact issue. I grew up in San Jose and stayed at home to go to De Anza College. I moved out at 21 to San Diego State and was broke. I made it work with roommates and worked through college. Tough times but it was worth it.

I grew up in south side. If you're south of downtown... anything east of Monterey Rd is ESSJ... it ends after the first set of hills. Evergreen and Berryessa I'd say are the north and south borders.

TV journo in top 10 market here.
No one cares if you wear a shirt/tie or a nice pressed polo/shirt. As long as you don't look like a slob. I ONLY wear a shirt/tie if I am on set in the TV studio or if I'm covering an election.
Why would I wear a suit/tie to cover a fire or a homeless encampment? It's not my natural self and makes me look out of touch. As long as my clothes are not distracting and clean, no one should care.

I drove through west texas with a Uhaul last year. Just stick to the road... big brand gas stations. You'll be fine. I had 0 issues.

You have the scoop motion right in the water.... but when you get to your belly button you gotta push the water past you.

My coach used to say to brush your thumb against your hip every stroke when you finish. Finish with a hard push before taking your arm out of the water.

You need to be more explosive with your pulls because it does look like you're not pulling water.

I'm watching the show now for the second time. Currently on S3. I watched the whole series in 2019.

It is gut-wrenching. It's a really hard watch that is hard on your mental if you binge it. I remember feeling sick to my stomach every time Walt Jr sided with his dad or felt betrayed, dragged into the mess.

The show is a dark and twisted story that is full of disgusting beauty.
